Everything is amazing! Food is amazing! Delivery is amazing! Beat prep meals I've ever had!

I'm guessing you are similar to me: life has gotten too busy and you don't have time to cook/pick up food. You need some help with having healthy, tasty meals on hand. You just want food delivered without any extra hassle. In addition, you probably also want to support a local business. I am fairly new to meal delivery services, but Meals by Mel found surprisingly creative ways to fall short in the few weeks I had their subscription service. First for a meal delivery service, delivering to the right address is pretty crucial. For the first two weeks, they delivered twice to the wrong address, so I had to walk around checking other people's front doors to see if they had dropped the food off there. The building isn't hard to find, the address is in giant letters right on the building, and UPS/Fedex/Amazon/USPS/etc have never had issues. The issue was only fixed after I reached out multiple times. Ask yourself, do you have time to constantly be following up/checking in, and your food could still potentially be delivered to the wrong place? Second, I saw other meal delivery services have insulated bags, so the food isn't just literally dropped off without any refrigeration. I thought I saw the option to add it to my order when I first signed up for the subscription, but I didn't add it at that time and I was looking to add it now. I googled it and found a Meals by Mel website link for the bag. So, I added the bag to my delivery for that week, but the website glitched out and didn't show I added it. I reached out by email and asked what the situation was on Wednesday morning before the Sunday delivery and received no response. And on Sunday the food was delivered with no insulated bag. I'm not sure if I was charged for it or not. I reached out again after the delivery, and they promised me they'd look into it. A week later and another delivery later, still no response. Again, do you have time to constantly be reaching out, following up with no response? Finally, again on Wednesday one week, I changed my subscription (before the deadline) and on Sunday they delivered the previous week's food. Not only that, when I checked the website again to change for the next week, it was as if nothing had changed from 2 weeks ago. Ask yourself, do you have time/energy to wonder if the food that's delivered is the one you ordered? Overall, if you like stressing out about: 1. Whether your food will be delivered to the correct address 2. Whether your food will be delivered cold 3. Whether your food will be the one you ordered, then you should choose Meals by Mel. Otherwise, I suggest you pass. read more

Don't do it!!! The first time I placed an order for the week I was excited because I had tried a few meals from this business through UFC Gym and those were good. However, the actual meals I ordered for my weekly lunch and dinner were a HUGE disappointment I ordered multiple of the hibachi bowls and they were extremely salty not a bit over salted a horrendous amount of salt that it made my bf and I sick. After a couple months this past week I decided I'd give it a second chance and made sure not to order the hibachi bowls...AGAIN, we received extremely salty food and in all of the meals with beans in them I noticed a weird smell and really bad taste , they were 100% expired and it made me sick AGAIN. I've been dying to try this meal prep and I finally did and OMG it was worth the wait!! The food is absolutely delicious and very flavorful. I chose steak and overnight oats. Both extremely tasty, my favorite is the caramel apple. The steak was cooked to perfection and didn't overcook when I heated it up. It was so easy to choose and order what I wanted to try and I received an email and alert immediately when my order was ready. I chose for it to be delivered to a gym close by. Pick up was a breeze and I was so excited to grab it for what you get, I'd say it's very budget friendly and almost the exact, if not a little less than I would normally spend on groceries to make myself. I see it advertised all the time on social media and I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and now I wonder how I will ever live without it. I felt happy, healthy and full after every meal. It's perfect for everyone even if your not into a fitness life, if you have a busy life this is a game changer. I am admittedly kinda hard to please when it comes to meal prep. It is super important to me that that the nutrition info logically matches what they send... When I try a new service, I weigh out the meals to see if it makes sense. I was thrilled to find their meals are consistently and accurately represented!! This is so rare I can't even convey. Thank you for consistently providing super delish food! I've gotten countless meals from other meal prep with 2oz chicken claiming 50g protein..... or 8oz cooked rice claiming 30g carbs. Wildly inaccurate.... but with Meal by Mel, I don't have to worry that using a meal prep service is working against my efforts! My favorites so far: orange chicken, red pepper rigatoni, Buffalo chicken wrap (eat on day 1 or it gets soggy), teriyaki chicken Sometimes I add a bit of roasted veggies to the meals that are lacking in veggies. My only constructive criticism would be to make all meals have 1-2 servings of veggies but that's an easy fix for me. read more

I've been loving Meals by Mel! I started my subscription early December to get ahead of my new years goals, and I recently checked in at the most muscle mass and lowest body fat I've had. They've made tracking my macros super simple, and I've found the online selection tool for orders to be the most effective out of other meal prep businesses I've tried. They are a great service for anyone looking to make tracking more simplified. However, i don't see myself continuing my subscription all year long as I want to get back into cooking, but again- amazing for simplifying your macros goals with great options. read more

Food is no good in taste. Chicken bland , hibachi is salty , hummus and chicken plate is just thrown together , hummus is all mixed into everything. Just bad quality meal prep . They cancel orders they don't have ready even if they say they emailed you when in fact they don't . Don't worst your time with this service . The food is flavorful, delicious, fresh and the macros are amazing. It fits in with my weight loss and working out regimen. The portions are great too. The food was good for the first two rounds. Even though they would forget to put items i ordered AND paid for. The driver would deliver at some point between 7-11am which is a huge gap to be waiting around at home with a toddler. After multiple issues (I've only ordered 4x) and always having something wrong or missing with my order i finally cancelled. This time the quality of the chicken wasn't good and they forgot the green salsa on every plate that would normally have it. Every order there was some type of mistake. Wouldn't recommend. I wish I could rate them higher. I genuinely looked forward to finishing these meals so I could never have to eat them again. They were usually bland and flavorless. Take for example the carne asada bowl. As a proud Hispanic I can confidently say their carne asada is just a bowl of rice and unseasoned steak. Unbearable on the first try. On the second try of that same meal, we knew better. My wife and I had to stick to the steak on the pan and properly season it before it was considered edible. The chicken hummus bowl was another meal that suffered the same flavor issues. Aside from that the food was laid out in a sloppy manner. Why were my beans crammed underneath another side? I cannot recommend this place at all, even with the 40% off code we got, not worth it. read more

If I could give 0 stars I totally would. I am not only a very unhappy first time customer, but also as a very unsatisfied one as well. I had heard nothing but good reviews about this meal prep company & that they handle everything well in regards to delivery, the quality of the food & the small details of it all. Unfortunately my experience has been no where close to pleasant. First off, my meals were delivered on Sunday September 26th, but I never received a notification of when the driver was close by or a message when they got delivered. I left my house around 8:30am & didn't come back until around 1:30pm not knowing if or when my food was delivered to my home which means I have no idea how long the food was out for.  It also wasn't kept cold by ice packs or anything of the sort. This is particularly unsettling because I did order salmon & chicken which are both easily prone to bacteria.  Second, almost all of meals have an inaccurate calorie count. A couple were off by maybe one or two, but other meals were off by a significant amount. Not to mention some of meals didn't include everything that was described in the package. My chicken with roasted sweet potatoes & cauliflower rice had no sweet potatoes & was instead substituted with green beans. This is clearly not what I paid for in my order & it also completely throws off the calorie count as well which is important for being in a calorie deficit. Lastly & probably the most unacceptable part is that there was hair in one of my meals. Not sure if its human hair or animal hair, but regardless of the fact it is completely disgusting! I was hoping that they would somehow fix this, but its been several weeks & I haven't received an email back or a phone call after September 29th & I've since emailed, called & left a voice mail. In about a two week span this company continued to fail us, by not showing up when promised, lack of response to me and my fellow employees. Usually people associate meal prep with rice, chicken & broccoli but Meals by Mel has a huge variety of options to choose from (my favorite is the white wine lemon chicken!). I do not like writing bad reviews about a local small business. I REALLY wanted this to be a good experience, but there are some things you can't overlook. Let me start by saying that the food had good flavor, but that is about it. I paid extra for extra protein in my meals and more than half of the meals we received did not have it. They were aware of the issue and subbed donuts to compensate. However, I didn't order donuts and I don't think that is a fair trade for the protein I paid for. Also, they took it upon themselves to sub one of my wifes meals with a spicy meal. My wife does not do spicy so that was a fail. When I contacted them via text, like they ask, they responded that they would refund me for the meal AND the money that they took from me for the extra protein I paid for and never got. I never received the refund. In short, I would not go back to this place. Nor would I recommend to anyone else. Taking people's money and not giving them what they paid for is shady business practices in my opinion. read more

I've been buying meals by Mel for several months now and I love it! It's significantly helped me with meeting my macro goals and being able to spend more time with my family instead of meal prepping. All their meals are good! And there are so many options to choose from. I've tried Factor and flex pro meals for years and finally tried Meals by Mel.. I've never been happier to eat pre made meals. Chicken reheated can be nasty some times, I give their chicken meals a 5 out of 5. They started doing delivery to homes which is awesome because I'm always on the go.
