We had an old water heater that went out, which was a real problem because we have baseboard heat. So, we really needed a water heater. We had a quote from our heating company and Dave said he could beat the quote. He got us a continual hot water heater, installed, for about $4K less than what we had been quoted. Work was top notch. We have hired Dave for several projects, not the least of which was replacing the hot water heater. A major project was renovating our garage. His work was great but a lot of it was during the winter, which meant that there were a number of people who were calling about heaters and issues with their house affected by the cold. When we needed a hot water heater, our work went to the top of the list. When it's January and some of the garage needs to be finished, work for others that is really important in the Alaska winter (like water heaters and other issues) went to the top of the list. I suppose I could bitch about that but I also recognize that the time line of my garage being finished isn't a matter of life and death. Fixing someone's heat or hot water or other matters can be life or death in an Alaska winter. I figure it's better to have a really competent handy man with a conscience than making sure my garage is his A#1 priority. So when his timeline for finishing our garage gets delayed because he's fixing the heat on an elderly couple's house, I don't worry. All in all, Dave's done excellent work. He's also been completely up front and 100% honest and done a great job. I've recommended him to friends of ours who are older and need real help because I know he will do a competent job and be honest about his services. That is, I know he will do a good job and I don't have to worry about him overcharging them. My wife and I are already discussing our next projects with him. I don't know if I can give a higher recommendation than that.

It was a time and materials job so money was not an issue. We inspected the wiring that was installed and we discovered that 16 gauge wire was used where it should have been 6 gauge. We informed the owner what the problem was and he refused to address the problem. He didn't even want to look at it. He said it was "bullshit" that we are accusing him of using the wrong size wires. We never accused him of anything. We just wanted him to look at the problem and find out why the circuit breaker was popping. He just kept saying "this is bullshit" and refused to even address the problem. He got paid well for this job but did not stand behind his work. A real electrician came out and installed the right size wire and the right size conduit. This company doesn't stand behind their work. If they make a mistake, obviously you will have to find somebody else to fix it. Be leery!

I made calls to various plumbers in the Mat…read moreSu area for pricing information prior to scheduling service and I feel like they weren't very transparent or honest with the pricing information that they gave me prior to me making the decision to use them. We had requested the removal of our reverse osmosis unit and to convert our dual drain sink to a single drain: Since we were getting new countertops and a new sink placed, they recommended the removal of the reverse osmosis and prep for the drain work in the first call out. For the second call out after the countertops and sink were installed I was told they wouldn't charge me for the call out fee and instead charge the hourly rate of $180 - sure, great. That's basically the standard pricing information I got by calling around. My main issue is that once the second call out was finished, I was charged $490.00 for 1.5 of work and materials. I was confused since the $180 hourly rate for even 2 hours of work was $360. They then informed me that since the previous job he was at was an hour away from me I was responsible for paying for his time to drive to my house? Not only that, the plumber told the manager that he was at my home for an hour and 45 minutes, which wasn't true. I have a ring doorbell that shows him arriving exactly at 1PM and walking out of my door at 2:33PM - which 5/10 minutes prior to that he was standing in my entry way collecting payment and discussing the pricing with me. In total we spent $730 on a job that took (collectively) 2.5 hours and only $35 of that total was for materials for the pipe and attachments/fittings under the sink. I'm no expert in plumbing but I've since discussed this with a number of people who are pretty shocked at the amount of money we had to pay for what is considered a relatively simple project. After speaking with Phillip he explained everything to me, which I appreciated, and offered to refund us $100 If that would "make me happy." I declined the refund because he made it seem like I was the only customer to call with this complaint. It really isn't even about the money, it is really about integrity and transparency. Had I known I had to pay for the plumbers time from driving point A to point B (regardless of how far away) I wouldn't have felt so blindsided by that cost. Also, the additional 15 minutes the plumber said he was there when he actually wasn't was really just a flat out lie. Long story, long: No, I won't be using them again and I don't recommend using them either.
