I honestly wish I could remove the yelp minimum 1 star and give this place a very solid zero.
The food was awful.
I could have been mistaken but it seemed that the only food available was one of four dishes, this was evidenced by The menu identifying either "repas de midi" (noon meals) or "repas du soire" (evening meals). The four evening meal dishes were Lamb merguez with couscous, vegetable couscous, Duck confit and salmon.
I ordered the lamb, wife ordered duck confit.
We ordered a bottle of wine to share
Our server sat down at a desk to put our order, already placed with the kitchen, into their PoS, when an older lady approached her the, two were in earshot and I was clearly able to hear her say, in french, "I told you earlier we were out of the couscous". I braced for the inevitable but didn't think anything of it as The waitress didn't say anything about it when she delivered my wife's salad. I felt relieved. Until fifteen minutes later she came back with the news she'd had for at least twenty minutes. And said " do you want to order something else". In retrospect, I should have said no.
I don't like fish or duck...duck is my preferred evil.
She disappeared behind the wall and came back about a minute later with our two meals.
1- Confit duck with cranberry sauce.
2- veggies: string beans, zucchini,
red peppers
3- scoop of parboiled basmati rise
1 - duck confit
A solid quarter inch of fat on top of the meat absolutely drowning in cranberry sauce. The confit looks as though it came directly out of the bag and onto the plate, it wasn't crisped up, no Maillard reaction, just boiled in fat.
Cranberry sauce was overly bitter.
Meat was so painfully salty that it took three or four glasses of water just to get through it.
2 - veggies
The string beans were over cooked and mushy. The zucchini was the star of the whole meal.
3 - parboiled rice.
I don't know if I really need to say any more than this side would have been improved if it was served with an ice cream scoop.
Old french music playing in the back ground does not a fine dining experience make.
Several other reviews have said they have an excellent wine list. There were 5 reds, 5 whites, one sparkling, 2 rose. I've seen more extensive lists at Boston Pizza.
This was the worst meal of my life, and I've eaten hot dog soup. I honestly wish we had celebrated my 35th birthday at a McDonald's. read more
