There are 2 sides of the restaurant: the more casual order what you want brasserie side and then the fancier multi-course chef menu side. I chose the brasserie side, where I had a reservation for a bar seat - turns out that wasn't really that necessary as there were several individual bar seats open; A group would probably have a difficult time getting a seat on a Friday evening though. For drinks, I had a paper plane and a last word. Those are my two go to cocktails for nicer bars, and they pulled them off fantastically (they also knew what I was talking about which is kind of rare for the last word). For an extra nice touch, they clipped an actual paper plane to the paper plane drink. Fun! For food, I ordered the Duck Confit. It was super crispy on the outside, but the meat was super tender and juicy and melted off of the bone. My mouth is watering while thinking about it. It also came with bread service. For dessert I had the tiramisu. I would give it a 4/5 - it was a little more bland than others I've had - not bad at all, but not my favorite one of all time. They seem to be serious about their coffee (see pictures). Since I was sitting right in front of it I had to order one to go with the tiramisu. I had a basic americano, and it was a great addition. My only real complaint is the bar seating felt a little bit exposed as the main walkway through the restaurant goes along the bar seating. Drinks 5/5, Service 5/5, Food 5/5, Ambience 4/5

After discovering Monarque in the Michelin Guide, we made a reservation during our time in Old Montréal, excited for an elevated dining experience with some adventurous dishes. We started with the bone marrow and also ordered the schnitzel, duck, and swordfish. The clear standout of the evening was the swordfish. Beautifully light and flaky, paired with a delicious couscous that gave the dish just enough substance without taking away from the delicate fish. It was easily my favorite bite of the night. The schnitzel and duck, however, didn't quite live up to the same standard. While both were good, I felt the heavier citrus-forward sauces did much of the work in bringing the dishes together rather than allowing the proteins themselves to shine. I appreciate a kitchen willing to experiment with less conventional dishes and bold flavor combinations, but some of these felt more interesting in concept than execution. The duck in particular is something I could have done without. Where Monarque truly excels is hospitality. The service was easily the highlight of our evening. The staff was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful in navigating the menu. This is the kind of establishment where if you drop your fork, someone is practically there with a replacement before you've had a chance to pick it up. The pacing was seamless, and the entire experience felt thoughtfully orchestrated. The atmosphere is elegant and formal, with dim lighting, white tablecloths, and an upscale setting that lends itself beautifully to an anniversary or special occasion dinner. My biggest hesitation comes down to the value. At this price point, I expect the food to be just as memorable as the service, and unfortunately, that wasn't quite the case for us. My verdict: 3/5 stars. Monarque is worth experiencing once, especially if you appreciate exceptional hospitality and an adventurous menu. But while I left impressed by the service, the food didn't earn a spot among my top-tier dining experiences. If you do visit, the swordfish would be my recommendation!

It's located in the old Canadian National Railway station that still partially serves as the Intercity Bus station. Parking is no problem, there is free parking for Siboire customers between 4 PM and 4 AM while the parking garage next door is avaiable during the day. First, the most important, is the Beer. I had 3 pints, one of their Oatmeal Stout, which was excellent, nice and rich but not too heavy and flavourful. Not quite as good as St. Ambroise's Oatmeal Stout because it is a bit too watery, but still great. Then I had a pint of Calvaire, which is their signature Pale Ale. It is a great pale ale that has a good hoppy bite. Finally I had the Ingenieuse, which is an Irish Red ale that is fairly sweet for a Red but still very tasty. The Food was very good, I had fish and chips that was very good. You get to choose the kind of fish you want and get 3 pieces plus fries and coleslaw for $15.00. The fissh was nice and moist and the batter good, blus the fries and coleslaw were excellent (some of the best slaw I have had). Definitely worth the money. The Service was also excellent, the waitress was attentive and very friendly. This is one of my favourite places in Sherbrooke and I hate saying this but it is actually a better pub with better beer than my beloved Golden Lion in Lennoxville. We stayed in Room #2 which had king sized beds on the main level and in the loft. The beds were very comfortable. The large bathroom had heated floors and a very nice shower. There were plenty of towels and supplies-soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash. There is a mini fridge in the room. Also, tea bags and French Press coffee. We enjoyed sampling the beer before ordering a full pour. I particular liked La Bicknell, an IPL. Of course, Jane did a flight of beers. And, the cocktails were delicious, as well. After exploring the town, we decided to eat in their pub. There was live music that night, which was delightful. We shared Forestry Poutine-if you go to Canada & don't get poutine, did you really go? This was probably the best poutine I ever had. And, the portion size was so generous that we didn't need to order anything else. The room came with breakfast. So very good! I had the Club Wrap that was top notch. Jane had The Brewer's Little Hunger. The meals came with home fries & Jane got toast & baked beans with hers. The coffee was very good. Under COVID, Canton Brasse is doing curb-side pickup for their growlers which is probably pretty fun if you're looking to pick up some brews along your journey in the Eastern Townships. The experience is exactly what you hope for in a small brewery like this: staff are extremely friendly, the space is well-lit and simple and the product is delightful. We tried the smoothie, the DIPA, the kviek and the sour IPA. By far, the sour IPA (pointe de tarte) was the most notable- we ended up grabbing two growlers to take home with us. Of course there's a $5 deposit for the growlers but apparently certain Montreal breweries will take them, should you be returning to the city. I dropped one star because while staff was very diligent in cleaning the place and amending service for decreased contact (for example, menus are online only), the terrasse tables are pretty close together, which made the busy terrasse space feel kinda unsafe. Otherwise a total pleasure!
