Lunch: 15.50 Euros for main dish and 20.50 Euros for appetizer + main dish. The seats were comfortable. The chef makes his own smoke salmon, the best I have had, with slices seemingly translucent (not the type you can buy at a grocery). The home made tagliatelle with scallops and shrimp was also excellent, at a better lunch price than you can find at the sea. The service was kind and courteous, a relief which is not so common in France. Worth coming back.

We ate lunch there one Saturday in June 2014. We were in the garden, and our order was taken by CD, cooked by CD, and served (mostly) by CD. We had a wonderful shrimp appetizer that included raw almonds. I was skeptical, but it was superb. This was followed by a terrific fresh fish on a concasse of green tomatoes. Then we finished on the smoked goat cheese in smoke. If you are drinking wine, you would be foolish to think you can choose better wines for his dishes than he can. He has a wonderful staff, worthy of his restaurant. You should go if you are nearby.

Like all the other semi-fine to fine dining in the area, the all have the standard foie gras in the menu, and beef or lamb for the main course. Superb staff. 3 female staff all working to serve about 8-10 tables. So, you just have to be patient here. But they were all super cool, and gave good recommendations of where to hang after dinner.

The restaurant is located just off one of the main squares of Vence. It is charming from the moment you walk in. The owners of the restaurant clearly care about food and the enjoyment of their guests. The husband is the chef and the wife runs the 'front of house'. Both clearly have the support of a skilled team. I chose the 45 euro menu and was delighted. Once you have sit down a complimentary tapenade with bread is presented to you. After ordering an amuse bouche of salmon terrine was delivered which was a small yet perfect delight. My first course was a house prepared foie gras terrine with a fruit chutney. Superb! This was followed by a main course of roasted provencal lamb with spring vegetables. I di not choose a dessert instead I ordered a 'plateau du fromage'. All of the courses were beautifully presented with a taste for the region. Throughout the service was attentive without being over bearing. From beginning to end this was a delightful experience. Bravo!

Me and a buddy spent a few days in Vence and dined a lot while we were here. Had several foie gras throughout the week and this place (although the foie gras itself is the same as the other restaurants) garnished it with very nice fruit and some greens. Paired well with the foie gras, making it not to rich and fatty. Totally recommend the beef fillet. Nice and juicy. And with a nice bottle of bourdeux, the beef just melts in your mouth. Depending on the time of year, the mosquitoes do become an annoyance if you're eating out in the patio while enjoying the views, so bring some bug spray (just in case).

Or, at least, they were French tourists. The food was excellent, with every dish beautifully presented and very tasty. I noticed that, for my American palette, the dishes were under salted, but they provided this wonderful herb salt with the main course that added a more luscious flavor to the steak I ordered. The avocado salad was simply amazing; the best dish I've had so far in France on this trip. Service was a bit rushed as the server seemed somewhat impatient with our bad French, but I can understand as they seemed to be understaffed. The young chef trained at Gordon Ramsey's two-Michelin-star restaurant in Paris and his outstanding pedigree shines through in the cuisine. We started with two amuse bouche, a lovely light mushroom soup and a delicious butternut squash purée with Parmesan crusted morsels. Next, we loved the crab ravioli which came bathed in a wistful coconut foam; interesting dish with rich flavors and a mix of textures. For main course, we had the duck breast which was perfectly cooked medium rare and absolutely melted in the mouth with a divine savory sauce that we cleaned off our plates with bread after finishing the duck. For dessert, I had poached pears with local goat cheese and homemade gelato; fantastic mix of textures, flavors, and temperatures. My husband had a ball of darks chocolate, dusted with gold flecks and filled with sorbet, over which a hot coconut based consumme was poured, causing the chocolate and sorbet to break and meld together. All this for less than €40 per person. Our server Levy was a very nice young man who spoke English well and always spent a few extra minutes with us to explain the dishes and help us choose what to order. Although we didn't arrive on time for our reservation and all the tables in the restaurant were full, the staff set a table for us upstairs and made us feel right at home. All in all, a wonderful meal at a great value with a gracious staff and precocious chef with a bright future. La Litote means "the understatement," an apt name for this excellent but unpretentious restaurant. Highly recommended.
