This is as good as it gets in Vence. Nothing is better...nothing…read more It's all true. It's opulence, it's scenery; they're all breathtaking. And as for the dining experience, it's very comparable to a 1-2 star Michelin restaurant. From the first to the last course, you'll remember the experience. They take care of you until you leave the lobby. I had so much foie gras during my stay in Vence, but Le Saint Martin served the most memorable one ever. And the beef and the various cheeses courses were also phenomenal. They also make their own sweet wine (or cognac), nicely aged, and very smooth to the last drop. I would come back just for another sip. Highly recommended. Make the reservations. Come a little early to take on the views, and hang out in their lounge.

What a nice hotel! Beautiful vistas and grounds. Rooms are comfy and very large for the region…read more There are art galleries incorporated into the hotel as well along with large modern art instillations that contrast beautifully with the more traditional landscaping of the grounds. All staff are incredibly gracious and welcoming, English speaking as well so if I needed anything and my french husband wasn't around I wasn't stranded. The hotel is located near Nice with shopping, beaches, shops to rent scooters or motorcycles (like we did!) and the airport but is far enough away it's peaceful and quiet, the hotel itself has quite a history of its own from the Knights Templar to Winston Churchill, it also has ruins on the property from the third century. This hotel is also home to an exquisite two star Michelin restaurant, while it is a bit pricey I would definitely recommend you make a reservation and dine in, the only downside is they allow smoking in the restaurant, what a great way to ruin a meal... My only other quibble is the bar is quite over priced, the drinks are good and I cannot fault them for quality but a €28 cocktail is a very poor value.

It has the added advantage of being right at the entrance to the town. To continue. The service is abrupt and not particularly attentive, but professional without grace. The food was very mixed. I had a delicious beef, carefully prepared and sauced, but one of my dining partners had a lamb which was tough and tasteless. The real issue that lowered my review score to just "OK" was the cigar smoke from the next table. it is bad enough to have to endure the lessening addiction of the French to stinking up their environment with cigarette smoke, but cigar smoke is beyond the pale. Nothing is as annoying as having a bite of perfectly prepared beef ruined by a cloud of stink from another table. A word to the restaurant management; If you can't see fit to ban smoking from the restaurant, then at least keep it to cigarettes. I would think any self-respecting chef would want his work to be appreciated without the smell of ash over-riding his creations.

Highly recommended restaurant in Vence…read more 3 course meal for under €40. And you get great a view of the country side too. This is a no brainer. Me and a buddy spent a few days in Vence and dined a lot while we were here. Had several foie gras throughout the week and this place (although the foie gras itself is the same as the other restaurants) garnished it with very nice fruit and some greens. Paired well with the foie gras, making it not to rich and fatty. Totally recommend the beef fillet. Nice and juicy. And with a nice bottle of bourdeux, the beef just melts in your mouth. Depending on the time of year, the mosquitoes do become an annoyance if you're eating out in the patio while enjoying the views, so bring some bug spray (just in case).

Or, at least, they were French tourists. The food was excellent, with every dish beautifully presented and very tasty. I noticed that, for my American palette, the dishes were under salted, but they provided this wonderful herb salt with the main course that added a more luscious flavor to the steak I ordered. The avocado salad was simply amazing; the best dish I've had so far in France on this trip. Service was a bit rushed as the server seemed somewhat impatient with our bad French, but I can understand as they seemed to be understaffed. Bathrooms: very small, but beautifully decorated and very, very clean. I love the gold fish art piece and the bit of exposed stone wall. (See photos)

The food was amazing, to put simply. My friends ordered variations of the ratatouille. Putting it inside a crepe is such a novel idea and mixed with egg just made it irresistible. After trying it I wished I had ordered the same. I, instead, chose to order the honey, chevre salad. Those are two things that should always be together on a salad. The sweet honey and the baked chevre are MOUTH WATERING. I am unsure of how this message has not been passed along to American restaurants yet. Please start doing this and I will eat salads daily (or maybe just more often than once a month). It had every flavor you could want from a salad and topped with bread to make even more delectable. The view is beautiful and overlooks the valley. You can daydream about the houses you'll never be able to afford or instead about which wines to try next. Located in the old walled city of Grasse it's a short distance from the parfumeries that tourists both French and international love to visit. It's best to park at one of the three nearby parking lots and walk through the windy narrow streets to this restaurant tucked away in the former store rooms of a building. There are the amazing arched brick and stone ceilings and there is a nice cover patio in front perfect for relaxing and enjoy the Cote d'Azur weather. It's the kind of place Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware go to get inspiration. Very Provinciale. Specializing in cuisine traditionalle there is a nice selection of a la carte starters, mains and desserts as well as two 3 course prix fixe menu for 36 and 26 euro both with many choice for each course. The portions are larger than at most restaurants in France. There are equal selections with seafood and meat and even vegetarian main dishes, not always something easy to find in France. The starter were huge with my salad being loaded with lardons as well a cured duck and the warm goat cheese salad the French spouse was just the way it should be she said and since she grew up in Grasse I'll take her word for it. The mains were equally good with a lamb confit cooked en papillote in filo dough wrapping, served with potatoes gratin and a celery root and parsnip root mash. The French Spouse had a more regional dish which is a seafood stuffed with fish in a tomato broth, it was served with rice and the parnip and celery root mash. The dessert were huge and tasty. One was chocolate mousse cake with a base of Genoise layer with super light but still rich and chocolatey cake with more creme on top and served with a cup of warm chocolate sauce to pour over it. The French Spouse's lemon crepe was full of tangy lemon curd and served with a shot of kir. The place is filled with locals wanting an upscale but comfortable meal. There is a lunch time prix fixe for 13 euro. The dinner menu ranges from 6 to 20 euros per plate and has to the two prix fixe.
