FOOD - Fresh, well-seasoned, tasty, enough so that everyone was stuffed by the time starters and entrees had come and gone ... and a couple of us still found room for excellent desserts. We had started with limoncello spritzes, which cooled us off nicely. A liter of the house red was perfect accompaniment for the food. SERVICE - We arrived almost a half-hour before our reservation time, and they didn't bat an eyelash. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, engaging, and attentive. Good job. AMBIANCE - Nice brick and stone interior, lending a sense of antiquities and class. NET-NET - I would come back here at the drop of a hat. It wasn't cheap, but more than worth it for what we got.

Both were every bit as incredible as we remembered: the pasta rich and full of flavor with pecorino and guanciale, and the pig perfectly tender and juicy with that irresistible crispy skin. Yumm! We started with the Crostino N'Duja, which was rustic, spicy, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. We also ordered a charcuterie plate. To finish, the lemon torte was bright, refreshing, and surprisingly, not too tart. It was exactly just the way we like it. Kevin's service was outstanding--warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, which made the celebration feel even more special. We were given a couple of shots and a special cookie for my hub's birthday and after learning I am Filipino, he also offered us shots of his own special Ube liqueur. La Tavernaccia has truly become one of our favorite places in Rome, and we already can't wait to come back again to try something new that Kevin highly recommended - the Roasted Veal.

We got the meat option. They open daily at 1PM for lunch and it's €1,00 for water if you need one. Take away only and no seating inside the pasta shop. A lot of people just ate near their store on the street... It's very close to the Spanish Steps so it's pretty easy to find. Right across from Pompi Tiramisu so you can get a dessert after the pasta. The noodles were chewy, great flavors and the pork crispy (looked like bacon than pancetta)... For 5 euros it's such a steal. I saw a bunch of local students swarming the outside of the store while chomping away at their pasta... it has to be good right? The store is clean, small and has big trash bins inside in case you're finished with your pasta and want to throw away the container... I ended up getting some dried pasta to bring home. Highly recommend checking them out. Hubby wasn't even hungry and still had more than half of MY pasta.

The line out the door caught our attention and the 4,50 euro sign for pasta was too affordable to pass up. Pastificio Guerra usually has two handmade pasta options for you to choose from. An option with meat and one vegetarian one. The menu was different on both days we went. The first day we came they had a bolognese meat one with a mushroom options. On the second day we came they had a gnocchi with red sauce and few meatballs. I think they had the same mushroom vegetarian one they had on the first day as well. We had the meat ones on each day and they were both good. A portion was a good size and filled us up. The pastas were flavorful and came out hot. They give it to you in a take out container with a spork to be eaten. No bags. They don't have seating inside or outside. It's more of a grab and go type of place and the line moves rather quick. They also sell their ready to be cooked pastas inside.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming,…read moreand the staff truly elevate the meal by offering samples throughout the evening and creating a friendly, lively mood. The food was AMAZING. My family and I started with the prosciutto and buffalo goat cheese served with oil and pepper, which was my favorite part of the entire meal. We also ordered a pretty good vegetable lasagna, a chicken dish with a delicious sauce, and two gnocchi dishes, including a carbonara-style one. Everything came out quickly, and there were unique items displayed around the restaurant that you could try and buy, which made the experience even more fun. We were so full from the appetizer that we only ate about half of the gnocchi. The owner noticed and kindly refunded those dishes, saying we should not pay for something we barely touched. That level of thoughtfulness is rare and left a huge impression on us. Overall, Masto is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food, quick service, and some of the kindest staff you will ever meet. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

The ambiance was incredible!

Behind the simple building facade is a fabulous Roman restaurant! We did not have a reservation, but there were some tables available, and we were given our choice. A glass of prosecco soon appeared to welcome us, followed by the menu, which is fairly extensive. We chose Carciofo alla Giudia for a starter. This was the best deep fried artichoke we have had in nearly 25 years of dining in Rome. For our Primo Plato, we enjoyed a perfect Cacio e Pepe -- homemade egg pasta with garlic, pecorrino cheese and black pepper. We stayed with pasta for our Secondi Plati, enjoying Bucatini Amatriciana and a pasta with bacon and artichokes (alla Gricia). Both were outstanding. Desert was a sinful Roman apple cake with zabaglione gelato. The wine list is being revised, but we found a nice Shiraz from Casale del Giglio in Lazio. The restaurant decor is simple. The staff is superb. Menu is in both Italian and English. We will return for another meal before we leave Rome.
