Eggplant rolls with tomato sauce and Parmesan....DELICIOUS!!!!
    Leticia M.

We were referred to Felice our first night in Rome, and grateful we managed to get a reservation. I highly recommend you do it far in advance, otherwise you will be having a late reservation at 10 PM. However, it's so worth it! The food is outstanding!

My wife and I were in the area and were trying to get into another restaurant but the reservations a full so we wandered around and found Felice a Testaccio. This place has been around for a lot of years and we are glad we went here. The staff were very attentive and friendly. They serve good crusty bread to start with along with the oilve oil and balslamic vinegar. We shared the Bufala mozzarella appetizer, I had a green salad and finally tried the Cacio de Pepe for my main course. My wife had the carbonara. I downed a half bottle of the house Chianti which was very tasty. The staff told us they have other locations and are soon opening one in Torino later this year. This place is a gem and great to try.

The Cacio e Pepe here is unmatched!!!! All the adjectives in the world are not enough to describe this dish. They toss it right in front of you as well

Heard great reviews and had to try it ourselves. And it lived up to the hype. We decided last minute to try Felice a Testaccio so we did not have a reservation. Luckily, they were able to fit us in right before closing. Normally, you'd definitely need a reservation. We ordered the Cacio e Pepe, Breaded Cutlets of Lamb with Fried Zucchini, Carbonara, Eggplant Parmesan, and Tiramisu. Honestly, everything tasted wonderful. The Cacio e Pepe stood out the most. It was the best Cacio e Pepe I've ever had. The tiramisu was also so so delicious. They had great service and spoke English really well. I hope to come back in the future and try more items on the menu!

My family is native to New York City and visited Italy this summer. I came to Testaccio and was the young man helping the big wheelchair into your restaurant in August. Thank you for your help and delicious food for my father and my family. All the food was amazing and you are good people. You should know your food is desired not just internationally but also globally. People talk about your pasta in several languages, even in New York. Do everything exactly the same! Your food is so good it could be as popular as Rome's Roscioli or Florence's All'antico Vinaio in New York if you wanted. Grazie mille

Food (3 out of 5) -- we made the trip to Felice a Testaccio for their famous Cacio e Pepe. Sadly, we were disappointed. The cheese and pepper were out of balance with too much cheese and no pepper flavor. There is a lot of focus at Felice on the presentation with the dish brought to the table with the cheese not having been mixed it. It's a nice presentation by the server making a show of mixing it table side. Unfortunately, in our case this left us with pasta that was cooled off far too much with some cheese not even fully melted and blended into the pasta. Service (3) -- service was better than our food, but still mediocre. Felice strikes me as, unfortunately, another once excellent restaurant that is largely now just getting by based on the momentum of its past success. Atmosphere (3) -- generic and nondescript. We did not come to Felice for the ambiance.

The food was amazing as well as the service. All the pasta were well cooked. We loved both the cacio e Pepe which has a light creamy taste and carbonara which has a smoky creamy taste from the bacon. Lamb is super good and it's very well cooked and rich but balanced. Omg the potato with the it is soaked with some sauce and I just could not stop eating. The veal with ham is every good too and it's my first time taste veal layered with ham and the taste is mild and nice. The highlight is the dessert semifreddo that is super smooth and super good.

Came here for my birthday last night expecting to be blown away since all the reviews say it's the best. I've been trying cacio e pepe at every spot we've eaten at in Rome (Tonnarello and Da Francesco so far). This was my favorite. It was really executed well and the sauce was perfectly balanced. Their saltimboca and involtini were fantastic too. So why 3 stars? The service was horrendous. I'm not sure if we came on an off night or if they were short staffed or if we experience the widely known racism towards Asians in Rome. We sat for awhile waiting for menus, so that delayed us making up our minds. There was a big table of locals sitting next to us and then they sat another table of Americans that spoke a little Italian a few minutes after us. They tended to those 2 tables before us. The food came out pretty prompt and cleared away after we ate, but we waited for almost 45 minutes before a dessert menu was offered. The table that came after us was offered dessert right away. I know Italian culture tends to wait i between courses to sit, talk and digest but this was way too long. All the servers avoided our area even though I made eye contact with one of them. I didn't have this experience anywhere else on our 2 week trip throughout Italy. In fact the service was phenomenal at both Da Francesco and Tonnarello. Once we did get the dessert menu, the tirimisu was yummy. It's too bad the service took away from the quality of the food. I also don't expect people from another country to try to speak in English, but I found it curious that this was the 1st restaurant that didn't even attempt to try with us. 2 stars for the food but will not recommend this place for the poor/lack of service.

Fantastico. Started off a little slow but service picked up and was attentive throughout. Two different waiters, one for drinks and another for food. The host/head confirmed that everything was okay with us at the end which was a nice touch. Honestly every dish was amazing to me. From apps to dolce, each was superb. I very much like the artichoke which was cooked to perfection, tender and good flavor. Can't go wrong with any of their pasta dishes. The meatballs tomato sauce was succulent, great for dipping your bread also. The semifreddi desert is a must try. There was an issue with double charged for wine but that was quickly resolved. Great atmosphere and enjoyable. I would return.

Service was impeccable. We didn't know who was our designated server because everyone in the restaurant seemed to help one another out. The ambiance was lovely. Quiet, spacious, and actually a decent inside temperature! It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. We ordered the eggplant parm, cacio Pepe, and mixed salad. The mixed salad was very fresh. Apparently the cacio pepe used to be served in a cheese bowl but we weren't that lucky. The pasta was fresh and nicely cooked Al dente. We were too full for dessert but then pleasantly surprised when a serving of meatballs showed up at our table! Very tender and the sauce was perfect.

Food was good. I wouldn't crave any of this but it was fine. The cacio e pepe wa perfectly al dente, but the sauce was broken. The lamb had very little meat - what you see in the picture, that top layer is fairly thin and that's all of the protein. It was probably just over 2 ounces worth. So not enough protein to potato portion. The server was so kind. I expressed I wanted to try the cacio e pepe but also wanted to try the lamb and it was just to much food. He graciously offered me a half portion of the pasta so I could have a full portion of the lamb dish. Very appreciated. The sommelier was also generous with her time and advice. I'm not familiar with all of the Italian wines yet and explained to her my preferences and she recommended a delicious option. I'm terms of ambiance, I sat outside and it was a warm, balmy November evening in Rome under a lit tent. It was a relaxing and an enjoyable place to dine.

We were reading an interview with Eataly CEO Nicola Farinetti about his favorite restaurants in Rome and Felice a Testaccio was at the top of the list. He seems like someone we could listen to, so we made reservations for lunch and we are SO glad we did. Even though the restaurant was full, since we had a reservation we were seated immediately. The service was fast and attentive, one waiter gave us friendly recommendations for dessert and they didn't rush us out, even though the lunch was clearly over and tables around us that showed up after us were leaving before us. After ordering a well-priced Eremo Tuscolano Frascati Superiore, we were quickly served our eggplant parmigiana and an egg frittata, which were both delicate, light and tasty. Our main dishes showed up shortly after we finished the first course and since this was our first visit we decided to order a couple of Roman classics. The Spaghetti alla Carbonara was amazing, with a pervasive taste of the guanciale in every bite. The other was their signature dish, Cacio e Pepe, which I ordered because of my recent obsession with Tonnarelli. When they showed up at the table, I was a little surprised because it looked like the cheese was just dumped on the bowl, but I quickly realized that this was because they did a tableside mixing of the dish, which I loved. This was the best Cacio e Pepe I've eaten in Rome and the Tonnarelli was amazing. We hadn't planned on having dessert here, but due to the quality of the antipasti and main dishes, as well as what we saw coming out of the kitchen, we decided to stay for the dolci. Another great choice because the Tiramisù and the Black Forest cake were definitely worth staying for. It turns out Mr. Farinetti was right and you should definitely check out this fantastic Testaccio destination for lunch or dinner.

This place is all about the food. Located in a non-touristy neighborhood, they serve the most delicious cacio e pepe, probably anywhere. We sat outside as their seatings seem to alternate between inside and outside. The inside is gorgeous. I also had the roast lamb which was perfectly done. The prices are fantastic too. If there is any negative, I think the service a a bit rushed but truly the best of Italian food.

My family and I started with the prosciutto and buffalo goat cheese served with oil and pepper, which was my favorite part of the entire meal. We also ordered a pretty good vegetable lasagna, a chicken dish with a delicious sauce, and two gnocchi dishes, including a carbonara-style one. Everything came out quickly, and there were unique items displayed around the restaurant that you could try and buy, which made the experience even more fun. We were so full from the appetizer that we only ate about half of the gnocchi. The owner noticed and kindly refunded those dishes, saying we should not pay for something we barely touched. That level of thoughtfulness is rare and left a huge impression on us. Overall, Masto is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food, quick service, and some of the kindest staff you will ever meet. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
