THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.

The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially the location near the Eiffel Tower. Great food, generous portions, and an overall good experience!

I came here on my first visit to France with my sister and brother-in-law. I had just finished my time at the Eiffel tower and walked over to this restaurant for a drink and a snack. I was seated immediately, waiting for the rest of my party. The staff were incredibly patient, allowing me to stay for the fifteen-ish minutes it took for my family to arrive. We, of course, ordered the hot chocolate topped with cream. It was incredibly rich, which was the draw. It was required that we each ordered our own teapot, which provided about two and a half cups of hot chocolate. This was a bit excessive, as the drink was heavy and I could only stomach a cup. I did wish the restaurant allowed us to split the pot amongst our table. Nonetheless, I enjoy dining at Carette and returned on my second Paris trip with my husband. Anyone visiting for the first time should try their thick hot chocolate at least once.

This is the lobby of The Hotel Plaza Athenee hotel. Great for people watching and fine delicacies ... now Just a mess. A 50 Euro Croque Plaza sandwich . Sounds pricey? It is! But it's also been the best sandwich in Paris for over 20 years. A truffled cheese and chicken sandwich now laid waste. I've had it many times. Maybe 50 or more times. Did Chef Imbert "reimagine" it? Are they going for a rustic disheveled monstrosity? My twin lovelies had the lobster club and loved it. My soulmate "The Chosen One" dined on a local Reblochon cheese plate. Wonderful. French cheese is ALWAYS a gift and not pasteurized and ruined like our government (in America) demands by law. My fellow Americans - you have not had cheese until you've had it in France. Anyway, after a mind-boggling and rude wait of 95 minutes (95 minutes!!!) we left. I had no lunch. Just a gift of time theft. The hostess apologized on the way out adding ,"I don't know what's going on in the kitchen today. It's just awful." I concur.

The chocolate was very good, and the desserts not bad (I believe one can get better ones for this prices); but they were aesthetically beautiful and very good tasting, anyways. When I payed and went to the lobby, I realized that my umbrella had been stolen. My Alexander McQueen umbrella. I informed the receptionist and she called the "attached director". She couldn't give me a solution, and she gave me the hotel's typical umbrella. She took note of my mail because she assured me that she was going to watch the recordings of the cameras. That was about four days ago and I still have no news about her. That is just unacceptable for a five stars "grand luxe" hotel. Five guys on the door than can't take care of your umbrella, and no one offers you to put your thing in the wardrobe. Unbelievable. Very disappointed and sad...

This restaurant is elegantly decorated, having plenty of seating, and a piano where performers come to play in the evening time. My girlfriend and I came here several times during our stay the Peninsula. Our first meal here was the croque monseur. It had the expected ingredients: ham, gruyere, bechamel, and a bit of butter. It also had some truffles, which gave it a very distinct taste. While truffles are not my cup of tea, the chef here somehow did make it my cup of tea when he included truffles in my croque. We also came here for dinner, in which I ordered grilled salmon while she ordered steak. The portions were smaller than expected, but the food was prepped decently. The side of potatoes and veggies, along with dinner bread, was decent for a late-night meal. The breakfast service was great. I ordered a salmon and cheese omelette, with a side of avocado, a cappuccino, and a glass of water. Again, the portions were smaller than expected, but the meal was prepped well. The staff here is amazing. I was initially worried that my high-school French was not going to allow me to get by. But the workers here speak English and Spanish as well, so we were good as far as communication. Overall, we were impressed by this restaurant. They took care of us very well, much how the staff in the rest of the hotel did. If you're staying at the Peninsula in Paris, this restaurant is a great place to dine.
