I visited this restaurant during my trip to Paris as I had seen some individuals recommend it online. We made a dinner reservation here for two people and we were able to be seated right away. The inside of the restaurant is very well-decorated, and I can definitely see this place as being good for hosting special events. For the food, we decided to get escargot, frog legs, and lamb chops. All the food here was cooked well, with lots of flavor to them. The meats were all quite juicy, and the lamb especially was very tender. The service was quite good here too, and it wasn't too hard to get the attention of the waiters. Overall, this was a nice restaurant to check out and I can see why other have recommended it!

4.5 stars rounded up. Diane Keaton's character in "Something's Gotta Give" brought me here. If you think that's unoriginal, wait til you hear I ordered the same roast chicken she mentions in the movie. Not only did it not disappoint but the half portion of roasted farm chicken (32 €) exceeded my expectations. One of our servers plated it tableside, spooning rich, comforting juices over tender chicken. The nicely-cooked carrots & onions lent additional flavor to the dish, & I couldn't stop eating fries with mustard; so potent, it cleared out my sinuses. I also took bites of my companions' filet mignon (50 €) & risotto with crispy zucchini & prawns (31 €), both as delectable as my own dish. As stuffed as we were from dinner, passing up dessert at a restaurant this good was not an option. Baked Alaska (18 €) was flambéed with rum at the table & the Coupe Mont Blanc (16 €) combined chestnut cream (my new favorite edible discovery) with vanilla ice cream, melty chocolate, & whipped cream. A superb ending to an unforgettable meal, & we so appreciated the professional, but warm service we received. Merci! Perhaps I should write Diane Keaton a thank you note for the romantic, old school Paris recommendation, but I suspect she's too busy to entertain my foolishness.

A legendary brasserie. Le Grand Colbert is a historic establishment with high ceilings, gilded chandeliers & crisp white tablecloths. Wonderful garlic herb butter enriched escargot, harmonious rich Foie Gras, and mouthwatering delicious Poulet Roti. Finished our dinner with soft, buttery Crepes Suzette Flambé Au Grand Marnier, the presentation was a memorable experience!

I saw this restaurant had mixed reviews. We wanted to give it a try and see what was what. It is known for a scene in the movie, "As Good As it Gets." I made our reservation and when we arrived we were met with a friendly smile and we were sat right away. I noticed the beautiful decor and inviting atmosphere. It was my husband's birthday, and I was really counting on an amazing meal for him. When I made the reservation, I let them know it was his birthday. Our waiter was amazing, warm and very kind. He made some great recommendations. We were served complimentary nibbles of delicious potato chips, olives and bread. We ordered and shared the French Onion Soup and it did not disappoint. It was super cheesy and full of flavor. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two. It was absolutely wonderful. We both love steak and it was perfectly seasoned, it was tender and very juicy. The side of béarnaise sauce was creamy and it paired perfectly with the steak. The steak didn't need it as it was delicious without it but we love béarnaise sauce. It came with a side of French fries and green beans. The green beans were fresh, crisp, and beautifully seasoned--lightly sautéed with just enough butter. The French fries were golden, crispy, and irresistibly good. Not greasy, just perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way we like them. To end our amazing dinner experience, we ordered the Baked Alaska flambéed with rum. They brought it out with a birthday sparkler and sang happy birthday in French to my husband. Our whole meal was excellent from beginning to end. This was truly a well-rounded and satisfying experience. We would definitely come back again.

Chestnut Napoleon. Pastry had a bit of burned taste, but the crème was delicious.

Fantastic in every way. Wonderful oysters, tartare, and a chateaubriand to die for! So amazing that we booked another reservation during our short trip.

After trading a bunch of reviews I almost cancelled our lunch reservation and I'm sure glad I didn't. We had none of the problems others mentioned. It is a lovely restaurant and service was friendly and very good. The food was excellent. I had a lovely piece of chicken with a great sauce and done frites. My husband got the salmon and I was very jealous! He wouldn't trade but he gave me a taste and both he and I thought it was excellent. The sauce was great we got the prize fix lunch . First course was eggs mayonnaise with a lot of mayo and so good. They brought little bowls of potato chips snd olives as an amuse bouche which was nice. People of all ages were dining there and everyone seemed happy. And I didn't hear any English (except for our waiter). This is a classic French restaurant so prepare to settle in and enjoy the food and the experience.

I have zero idea how this place is still standing. I mean a lot of people go because it was in some old movie from the early 90s ... but do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs! Their steak made me legit sick. I'm quite positive it was spoiled. The French onion soup was thick and impossible to eat with the giant old stale bread sitting on top and the broth was basically gravy. The chicken they're so famous for was bland. Don't let movies fool you ... this place is a must skip.

A iconic dinner spot in Paris - very beautiful with exceptional service. We ordered the kidney veal by accident -- not the tastiest but that was our fault. Other than that, the selection is great and I'm a huge fan of this restaurant.

We went here recently on our trip to Paris. Located in a very neat area of the city was Le Grand Colbert. I made a reservation ahead of time which would be recommended if you come here. They do a lot Of Classic French cuisine. I ordered the filet with a spice of the peppercorn sauce. The sauce really had a strong taste, but it was very good. All of the sides were excellent. The French onion soup stood out to me as it was extraordinary. Overall being a tourist and watching a few movies that were filmed at this restaurant I had a very memorable experience here. I would definitely recommend to anyone as they offered us a very special dining experience!

Service was very good considering how busy our server was. We had a 9 pm reservation and the place was full. He made a suggestion on oysters and my husband and I both agreed they were some of the best we've had. I can't remember the name but they were described as fat and fleshy and had a G imprinted on the shell. My husband had the scallops and they were very good. I had the filet mignon, I'm generally a pescatarian but really wanted to have the meat experience but Unfortunately the meat was a little tough by my standards of the melt in your mouth I was looking for. Perhaps because I ordered it medium but still it should have been tender. The pepper sauce and side of mash potatoes and green beans were delicious and paired with our bottle of cab the meal was very good but short of excellent for me. I would come back again. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is fun and inviting. Oh and we started with a dirty martini that was delicious!!

Came in today to meet friends who lives in Paris. They both caught a cold and canceled and I still wanted to have a Parisian meal. The food selection was amazing, I ordered the French Onion Soup (delicious and not salty ). I also order the chicken too big for me and chips. The service is 5 stars, they work well as a team. Ambiance is very Parisian and has a beautiful decor. I would highly recommend you try this establishment if you're traveling to Paris.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

It was a cute little spot with plenty of seating and a small bar right up front. The problem was that it's so cramped in there. They fully pack that place pretty tight in there. While they take walk-ins, they were so busy that had we not had a reservations we likely wouldn't have gotten a table in a reasonable timeframe. I think we waited about 15-20 minutes outside until our table was ready. As for service, while they weren't exactly rude, they for sure weren't exactly friendly either. This was also a spot that didn't cater too much to tourists by having English on the menu. I don't fault them for that though, it's their country. I would recommend having a translator app at the ready though with French downloaded. As for the food it was a bit of a letdown for me. We had a number of items to share with each other. Without having reliable signal in Paris, it was hard to use the translator app so I'll do my best with the foods. We ordered a ratatouille (don't think it was a traditional one though), a shrimp dish, white sauce pasta, escargot, duck breast and the chocolate mousse. The ratatouille was OK but was just like a roughly chopped cooked vegetable dish. The shrimp dish was fine as well but nothing standoutish. Our favorite dish was my friend's white sauce pasta; it was flavorful, rich and decadent but somehow not overpowering. The escargot, as expected was not good for me, but "When in Rome" (or Paris haha). It was just a weird chewy Thing that just tasted like oil and garlic with whatever herbs they used. I especially was off put by the little grains of sand or broken shell that was a part of each bite. The duck breast was a little bland if not for the sauce and it was also a tad tough as well. I will say the chocolate mousse was super rich and sweet; I couldn't eat that whole order by myself but it's nice to share for a little end of meal treat.

I enjoyed the mini mushroom raviolis and delicious Grand Marnier soufflé. The plat was somewhat odd because the chorizo chunks were really strong flavored which overpowered the scallops. I ate one chorizo chunk and pushed the rest aside. The scallops were cooked perfectly but not seasoned. The service was gruff/quite brief with dishes dropped by assistants.
