The largest piece at Louvre and in the same room as the Mona Lisa. Must visit

Must visit. One of the few places your time slot matter. The largest piece at Louvre and in the same room as the Mona Lisa is " the Wedding Feast at Cana" Jesus' first miracle, turning water into wine at he wedding

The pyramid at the Louvre was designed by famed Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei and completed in 1988. It was controversial as the design and appearance did not fit the classic French Renaissance style of the Louvre. Now it's a widely recognized icon and it serves as the main entrance to the Louvre.

The Louvre is one of the world's largest and most iconic museums, and its vast art collection is spectacular. Located in the heart of Paris, France, along the banks of the Seine River, this magnificent campus was once a royal palace. It's lovely, for sure! But is the time commitment and logistical hassle of seeing the Louvre worth it? Like any decision, it depends upon many factors, including your family's interests. You also need to consider your travel schedule, when you are visiting, and your willingness to endure a little stress in order to lock eyes with the Mona Lisa. I believe it's worth it. The architecture, culture, attention to details, artifacts, fossils, paintings and history is something you can't pass up. Be sure to go early or on the later side because it gets really really busy. There's so much to see other than paintings. So take your time.

The coolest Pyramid around! (except for Egypt lol) The pyramid is beautiful! And it is huge. The architecture is just awesome to see. It is so pretty. Seeing the pyramid from the ground is cool, and it is also great to see it underneath the pyramid when you are inside. This structure was one of my favorites, aside from the L'Arc du Triomphe. The pyramid was my second favorite structural piece. You can see it right outside the Louvre. It is a masterpiece. Once you go underneath, where the entrance to the Louvre is, you can see the inside of the pyramid. It lets in lots of light and it sparkles in the reflection of the sun. Very pretty! It is a must see. I'm not sure if I liked seeing it from the outside more. Seeing it from the inside and looking up really made it look spectacular.

Despite being to Paris, and more so the Louvre, the pyramid really didn't catch my attention until my latest trip. My first time at the Louvre all I could focus on was actually going in. Now that I had my second time there, the pyramid was much more interesting to me. For one thing, the Louvre was having issues selling tickets online, so you had to go through the pyramid to purchase tickets. For another, this landmark is huge and made of glass and metal. When you're trying to kill time or are just waiting to enter, believe me you notice it. That and it was during winter, so there were less people. At any rate, this pyramid is a beauty and I, of course, got my photo with it.

Loved the Louvre during the day and lit up at night. Took obligatory Louvre photos on the pillar blocks. Such a beautiful area to explore.

Louvre is a beautiful place filled with artwork and collections from many different types of painters, sculptures, and much more to see if you are visiting here. This is one of the most iconic places that people all over the world would visit! This is my second time ever coming here and it still takes my breath away while I am walking all around the museum. Yes the line to get in is insane and they do make every single person go through security, so don't bring anything inside that could make you not get in! I would suggest coming here and spending a day walking around. I would say pick an early time slot but know you'll be having to wait a while to get in. Buy your tickets online and don't wait until you get there because they do sell out!

I've never really thought of the pyramid as it's own separate thing. It was just an unusual entrance to the museum. However, on further thought I can see it. It was a totally separate project by a well known artist. As pretty as it is outside, and it's a great known location to meet people, it's looking up from inside that really makes it.

The pyramid is definitely a MUST see when visiting Paris! Be aware that the area gets extremely crowded so I'd recommend heading out early. When we visited there was security check points coupled with the line to get in for tour times made it a bit frustrating. But overall just being in Paris and experiencing the Pyramide du Louvre was AMAZING. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that you always dream of visiting. We spent hours here. And once inside there is also a mall and food court area. You can also get to the transit station.

Icon for the Paris other than Eiffel Tower. This is one of the most photograph area. More importantly the pyramid is not jut the out side only, the museum below ground has an upside down pyramid. It touch a small concrete pyramid below. The person who created the pyramid is a Chinese American who designed this pyramid. If you saw this, you know it is Louvre museum. It is a city symbol. The pyramid lighted at night provide a good night view. The translucent glass also provided the sun light shine to the ground of inside museum.

Once you enter the museum, go below the pyramid. The site from below is unbelievable. What a great design. The huge atrium is breathtaking. I purchased a tour and had a fantastic guide. This person had a masters in art history, which really showed during our tour. This person showed us the most important things in the museum. He called it the 3 divas of the Louvre. Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, and the Mona Lisa. They explained many bits of information on each of these most impressive sites. Things that you cannot know from just any tour book or even some guides. Undoubtedly this was the best tour I've ever had, and this location calls for it. We were told that if you spent 1 minute at every exhibit in this museum, it would take you over one month to see everything. What a great place this is. A place where history has stopped and tells you a story. The art is unbelievable. The status are amazing. The atmosphere is awe-inspiring. I absolutely loved the experience of being at the Louvre. Even with a map, you will be surprised at what you find around the next corner. You could spend a whole day here and go around the world and so far back in time that it doesn't seem real. I recommend getting a tour from a reputable company. It will make a huge difference in your experience.

Entrance to the basilica is free, and it's opened from 6am until 10:30pm. It was built with the "self cleaning" Chateau-Lando stone from France, and the rain and weathering keeps it white. Crowds linger on the steps and around the overlook areas. Vendors try to sell you cheap locks to put on the surrounding fencing (the locks covering the fences-even with signs saying "no locks permitted" are an eyesore and should be removed). Security line checks are long and in February 2026 we waited about 30 or 40 mins to enter. I can only imagine what chaos it is in the high season. Once On Top I was almost 1,000 feet above ground and the views were dramatic. One level is fully enclosed behind large windows and the level above is open air with large metal screens for protection. That day the wind was calm so it was very pleasant to be on that level. On the open air level you can buy a glass of champagne and macarons to celebrate if you wish. Above you the tower rises for about another 100 feet for radio antennas, etc. It costs extra to go To The Top and it is worth it. If you do, go there first and then work your way down to the 2nd and then 1st levels. You can only access The Top by elevator. The 2nd level (400 feet) and 1st level (200 feet) are accessible by elevator and stairway. Remember it's much easier going downhill than uphill. By the way, the stairs are open air but enclosed with metal screens making it impossible for you to fall off. If you are on the 1st level and want to exit it is faster to do so by stairs rather than waiting on the elevator. There are upscale restaurants on the 1st and 2nd levels and there are chairs that you can sit on and enjoy the view. Actually, the famous French landmarks are better seen from the 2nd level than The Top. There are 2 Metro stations within less than 10 minute walking distance to the Tower so getting here is easy. It amazes me that this HUGE landmark was originally designed to be a temporary structure only, They were suppose to take it down but decided it was too popular.

The catacombs are part of Paris' abandoned mine and quarry network, and bones were moved to the catacombs because the cemeteries were running out of space. The first bones were transferred from the Cimetière des Saints-Innocents after the cemetery was closed in 1780 due to overuse. The catacombs are an extremely popular attraction, and purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended as a limited number of people are admitted each hour, and with good reason -- the experience would be extremely unpleasant if overly crowded. However, you can only purchase tickets one week in advance, and the catacombs are not open on Mondays. The two full days we were in Paris were Sunday and Monday, so I had to ensure that we were able to get tickets for Sunday April 7. Fortunately I was successful! Tickets were €29 each, although per the website, they are now €31. Unfortunately, the catacombs are not accessible for people in wheelchairs or who have mobility issues -- the 1.5km long route has 243 stairs -- 131 to descend and 112 to ascend. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and if you want to see bones and skulls (no full skeletons, though), the Paris catacombs won't disappoint!
