For a defeated conquerer the French still hold the guy in high regard. I guess a part of it has to do with him not having done anything that would have made the French especially ashamed, or it simply could be that at the time it was a little more acceptable to be a Europe wide conquer, but then again I'm sure if the other person who attempted to conquered Europe didn't cross the line he did things probably wouldn't have turned out as bad for him. However, the tomb, not surprisingly, quite large, and Napoleon is certainly portrayed in a godlike manner. In fact they make him look like a modern Caeser. His leutenants, and family, are also buried here. While the tomb itself is impressive, it does get a little too much after a while. read more
