Industrial vibe and no floor to ceiling walls
Candice S.

Really cute hidden gem! The neighborhood isn't the best so that was a bit of a creepy drive but once you're inside you forget about that. There is some street parking so that's helpful! The space is industrial, quiet and calm. Given the industrial design, there aren't any floor to ceiling walls. This was annoying because the sound carried through the space. The reflexology area is right off of the front entrance so you heard everyone paying and exiting/entering. The was truly the ONLY downfall of the experience. I also wish they had some aromatherapy going on but not a need, just a small want. The staff was nice and the experience was great. I got 30min foot reflexology which started with a foot soaking. During that time they quickly rubbed my arms and hands. The foot rub was nice and I'll definitely be back!

Massage/facial room

I love this place. They always give the best massages and are not at all rude. I have been coming here for years and would be so sad if the were to close down. Every single one of their masseuses are great! I definitely recommend this place to everyone; they are affordable & good at what they do & trust me i am extremely picky with massages. GO HERE!!

Love this place! I'm a big fan of foot reflexology and it's hard to find a decent spot in Rhode Island. I discovered this place on the Internet and i'm glad I did. I usually don't go to Providence that often, but this is a good exception. The service is good, the place is clean, and the prices are fair. I will definitely return again!

I was impressed from the first visit with the careful, thoughtful attention she gives to what I am saying while mentally noting what she observes from her holistic approach. Her desire for her patients to improve is quite apparent...she seems to be constantly evaluating, assessing, making adjustments in treatment to yield the best results. Another reviewer said this: "She was on an all-out mission to eradicate the source of my condition." And I can't say it better myself. Within a short time migraine frequency and duration began to lessen...which is amazing as nothing else had worked to truly lessen them since they began in 1997. And other symptoms have improved as well :) In addition to sharing her expertise in acupuncture, Yvette has great knowledge of nutrition, herbs, cycles in the body...I could go on...This has been my first experience with acupuncture and I knew nothing about it prior. I recommend Yvette all the time. I am sure there are other good acupuncturists but I never tell someone they should "try acupuncture" I tell them they should see Yvette.

She absolutely changed my life and empowered me to take of myself in a whole new way. Yvette treated my chronic migraines with both acupuncture and herbal prescriptions, greatly reducing my pain and frequency. She was also the only medical practitioner who could solve a months-long acid reflux episode (despite the gastroenterologist having previously told me I would have reflux for life!) The only reason I no longer see Yvette is I have moved out of Rhode Island, but I make an appointment whenever I am back in town! I cannot recommend her highly enough.

I've never understood why New England doesn't have more of a spa culture, so I'm genuinely glad…read morethis place exists - and overall, it's quite good! If I weren't a bit biased from being spoiled by Canadian and West Coast Korean spas, I'd probably give it 5+ stars. I love that there's a cold plunge, plenty of relaxation rooms, an unlimited stay, and massage chairs. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the facilities feel clean and well maintained. A few minor improvements would really take this place to the next level: - The steam rooms and hot saunas could be hotter. - The cost is steep. I fully understand that my expectations are colored by $30 West Coast spas, but a slightly lower price point would make frequent visits easier to justify. - The locker room/wet area was very loud. I appreciate that conversation is allowed, but the volume made it hard to fully relax. I'm not sure there's an easy fix without acoustic upgrades. - The Korean food was disappointing, especially for the price. - This is very personal preference, but I do enjoy the traditional no-bathing-suits culture. Most women were wearing bathing suits, which made me feel a bit self-conscious being the only one without. Totally on me, but worth mentioning if you're expecting a more traditional spa experience. Overall, I'm happy to have a spa like this in the area and hope it continues to improve. If you've never tried a spa like this before, I highly encourage giving it a shot!!

I have such a "love-hate" relationship with Spalight. When they first opened, this place was an…read moreabsolute dream--meticulously clean, welcoming, and my go-to spot to totally reset. Unfortunately, the facility has hit a bit of a decline lately. What used to be impeccably dry, clean floors are now prone to dust and hairballs, and it's gotten so wet in the wet sauna areas that they've just started putting out "caution" signs instead of actually keeping it dry. I've seen quite a few people slip. Even the "unlimited" towel perk has been downgraded to a strict two-towel limit, and the food portions and quality have shrunk exponentially compared to the cost they charge it at. That being said, there is one major saving grace: the Korean auntie who does the body scrubs. She is an absolute legend and deserves a massive raise for everything she puts up with! She's the main reason the experience still feels somewhat authentic and worth driving to. The rooms are also on the smaller side, so if you go during peak hours, it's definitely more "crowded" than "calm." Honestly, the only reason I still make the trip is that it's the only K-spa within a reasonable driving distance from Boston. If there were more local options, I'd probably skip the decline here and head straight to NJ or NYC for a higher-quality experience. It's still a decent option if you're desperate for a scrub and a soak without the four-hour drive, but I really miss the high standards they had at the beginning.

Massage envy texted a reminder to my cell and confirmed the appointment when I replied to the text. The lobby entrance is located on the Waterman Street side of a large building, just about in the middle. Check-in at the large reception desk just inside. One of the staff confirmed my appointment and lead me to an area just off the lobby where she asked several questions related to my appointment: Areas of concern, pressure preferred, allergies to be aware of, health concerns, etc. After signing a waiver, I was brought around the corner to their waiting area. Lemon water is available here. Lighting is very low, soft music plays. A faux fireplace lends a nice glow. The building temperature is a bit warm, which you'll appreciate while getting a massage. My practitioner came to get me a couple of minutes after my appointment time, but I did get my full hour appointment. Restrooms are available for use before or after your appointment. My massage preferences were briefly discussed again, she left the room so I could change and dimmed the lights. Soothing music is piped throughout the building. My experience here was good. The staff are friendly and professional. The receptionist did try to sell me a membership before I left, which I declined. Everything was clean, it felt like a safe environment and I felt amazing after my appointment.

I called a few weeks ahead to make an Express Japanese Scalp Therapy appointment for us. Two weeks later, I had to call back to reschedule the appointment. It was an easy process and there were no issues. Benefits of head spa treatment include strengthening of hair follicles, stimulating blood flow, reducing dandruff, easing headaches and tension, and cleansing of the scalp and hair. On the day of the appointment, my friend and I walked in and were directed to the treatment room. Our beds were next to each other, but there was a curtain separating us so we had privacy. We were given a robe and told the staff when ready. The employee did a deep scalp cleaning, water therapy, head massage, shoulder and neck meridian, shampooing, nourishing hair and blow dry. The treatment took about 30 minutes and I felt so relaxed after. My hair felt very clean and soft and looked more shiny and healthy. After getting dressed, I checked out, paid and tipped with my credit card which has a 3% surcharge. It would have been cool if my scalp and hair roots were analyzed using a microscope providing a detailed view of my scalp's condition like in other places, but that didn't take place here. To say I enjoyed the Scalp Head Spa treatment is an understatement--I SAVORED it. It was pure bliss for 70 minutes. Seeing my scalp magnified before and after the treatment to compare the difference was a nice touch. Monee, the owner, even capped the whole session with a cup of fragrant, complimentary herbal tea. If you prioritize self-care and love tuning out the world while being pampered, I highly recommend giving this treatment a try. I can only imagine this is how Japanese emperors and empresses were treated once upon a time, and now I, a commoner from Rhode Island, get to experience it too! :) I must have really loved it because I bought a package of three future treatments on the spot--and one gift card for my husband--at a good discount. This is the real deal. Don't fall for those salon "extended shampoo and massage" services masquerading as head spa treatments in shampoo chairs. Not even close. Go in with an open mind and enjoy this lovely experience. Highly recommended. UPDATE: I went in today for my second experience and yes, still heaven!

As weird as this sounds I would been more comfortable with my lower back buttock or hip being touched because those areas hold the most tension and it's what you come to expect when you go in for a massage. I put my target areas as neck and lower back and they were totally skipped over to spend an incredible amount of time in very weird places. He went from above neck to knees and below with touching next to nothing in-between that point which is more than half the body going untouched. And no there was no hidden magic relief in the actual areas of need from rubbing these other places. It's not any technique I've ever seen or heard of. By the reviews you think this is best place in RI to go so I was honestly really puzzled. Are the reviews fake? Why was my massage so different from everyone else's? Why was he ok and able to apply needed pressure to others but touched me like a feather? Why was he ok touching other peoples necks backs with similar issues but not my own but didn't say anything about possibly having some undiagnosed injury to explain the skipping of half my body? Is he uncomfortable massaging women - well according to the reviews not so much he's massaged deep knots from the necks and backs of women too. The only commonality which idk what to make of is that both of us who got lots of ear lobe tlc share the same body type so I'm not sure if he just uncomfortable massaging a particular body type which if that's the case just refuse service make up some excuse don't take the money and then give someone a head massage that is expecting a back massage because you have some kind of hang up about touching certain parts of a women. And I'm not sure if it's he's afraid of an accusation or injuring a particular body type or if on a worse level has a thing for the ear lobes of a particular body type after seeing Rebecca's post. My massage was quite some time ago but seeing a recent Groupon made me think of when I went here and got that really weird massage so I decided to look through some of the reviews and when I saw the ear lobe thing and how that person looked very much like myself I knew I had to post.
