That means, no basic ingredients like citrus are used. That's basically telling the bartender they cannot make 99% of cocktails in mind and have to take risks to make something tasty happen. That concept in itself is a recipe to create things that will be genuinely and authentically Canadian. In other words, experimentation at its finest. Opened in 2024 by the team behind Quebec City's only 2 Michelin starred restaurant, Taniere, this is now the spot to be for those in the know. So, how is trial and error going of crafting something genuinely Canadian? Cocktails are superb on both taste and presentation. The food is remarkably plated with extremely high quality ingredients. Everything tastes excellent. If that's not enough, the entire interior looks like a very private club and the team of servers and bartenders is superb and welcoming.

I also hadn't had a charcuterie board this trip yet, so splurged on one here. It came with three types of cheese, three types of meats, two types of pickled onions, traditional cucumber pickles, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, an onion puree, a mustard puree, and bread. First off, I appreciated they actually provided the appropriate bread-to-other ratio. I feel like normally you run out of bread while eating a board but I actually had bread leftover with this meal! The cheese and meat were good of course, but I want to make a special call out to the onion puree, which was like condensed French onion soup, and the cucumber pickles, which were some of the best pickles I've had because they tasted so fresh, like they had just been brined. All of this on a deck looking out towards the river. Stop by here after late afternoon cruise with Croisieres ML across the road to continue enjoying the river view! Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - limited street parking nearby - several complex mocktail options available. I wanted to try one so bad but I was too full for more!

I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

We were seated on the patio and our very sweet server was right out to take our drink order. Since we are eating Poutine all over Canada in search of our favorite. We so enjoyed sitting on the patio, it was a beautiful day, we were people watching and enjoying the umbrellas place up the alley. Our poutine was delivered to the table and I can honestly say it was our favorite. The fries were crunch and creamy on the inside. The gravy was rich and had a deep flavor and the cheese curds had lightly melted. Every bite was perfect. The eatery and bar are tucked into a stone house that dates back to 1668, if only the walls could talk. The bar and restaurant feature local Quebec cuisine and is a gem. The service was excellent as was the atmosphere.

We had 9 people and they sat 5 at a table and 4 at the bar and we were completely fine with the arrangement. It is quaint and small and we could see our family and even shared some food since we Were close enough. The cheese fondue is not to be missed . It was absolutely the perfect start to our meal. Then we shared an original poutine and it also was delicious- best I had on our trip thus far! I ordered mussels for my meal and a steaming pot arrived and they were yummy. Ambiance and service were great. They accommodated our awful French attempts. Drinks were large. Honestly, I feel lucky to have dined here. Everything was wonderful!
