We took the ferry over to Levi from Quebec so we could see the city at night from across the river. The view from Le Corsaire are not nearly as good as from the river walk or ferry terminal, but the food and staff are quite nice. It is a classic pub atmosphere and menu. We ordered the fish and chips. we do not recommend it at all. We expected cod and was very disappointed as the fish was not tasty. It was a cheap pollack And the batter was terrible. I ordered the soup of the day- cream of spinach soup (terrible). I asked for bread when I ordered the soup and 10 minutes after the soup arrived , burnt bread was brought to the table. Our last night in Levis & discovered this local hot spot located by the ferry. Perfect! Indoor & outdoor seating. Young families with children & couples of all ages. Le Corsaire has been my fave bar to visit when stopping at Lévis. Just head down to the ferry dock and it's right there on the waterfront. The old block government building it is in looks dour and boring, but find that side entrance, or patio facing Québec and now we're talking! Beautiful inside with a massively tall interior ceiling and rousing crowd filling the place with life. I've been traveling on my own here and always felt welcome and comfortable sitting at the bar which gives a chance to chat with locals and staff. The food here is top notch and a level up on typical brewery or bistro fare which is typical of anywhere I've been in Québec so no surprise. The first trip I had the wild boar burger which was fantastic! It wasn't on the menu this time so instead I got the brisket. I didn't realize that each item needs to be ordered on its own at this place. That means you order the main, and the sides to go with in addition. I ordered the main plus a salad, and this was perfect! Especially since I was in Québec where salads are revered instead of being something your mom made you eat, and largely ignored. My goodness that salad was good! They had to re-make it for me since pecans seem to be a popular salad topping here lately and I'm allergic, so they just added more of everything else. Beet and goat cheese was the main ingredients and it tasted like heaven on earth! The brisket was delicious as well, just popping with flavour. For dessert I had the raspberry/rhubarb torte which topped off an amazing meal. I had a couple IPAs on tap, which seemed fitting since this is a brew-pub after all. And when chatting with the staff after that I asked where I could park to spend the night in their fair city and he said that I won't be hassled anywhere and to just use their parking lot if I wanted. And I did; it was great waking up to an epic view of the Québec castles lining the St. Lawrence across the river from me. We arrived to the other side of the river, from the ferry and there were no other restaurants in site, so we decided to visit here. They don't serve dinner until 5pm, so they had a limited amount of appetizers and a variety of beer on tap, so we decided to eat a little before dinner and have a beer: Vodka apple shot - 5 stars - we arrived and my son started playing foosball and they said it was only for 18 or over, and my son said he was 18. The bartender didn't believe him and said, if you are, a shot is on me, and when he looked on his id, he saw it was his birthday, and gave a drink on the house because 18 is legal drinking age in quebec. The bartender/ waiter was very nice and could speak English explaining the different beers and appetizers. Meat appetizers - 4 stars - a variety of different meats, including pate, seal and bison tataki. Was an interesting, gamey taste. Ginger beer - 4 stars - not my type of beer, I should have gotten the dark beer, but was refreshing and smooth. Got a buzz, but not sure it was because I shared the vodka shot with my son. read more

This was in the middle of February, the river was frozen...but we decided to take the ferry across to Lévis to check out le Corsaire. We're glad we did! The beer selection was pretty good with something for everyone. A bright pink looking sour for me, IPAs and stouts for others. The menu is in both English and French so it's easy to figure out not knowing French. The waiter was also very nice and helpful when we gave the deer in headlights look when he came over and started speaking to us....and knew we'd need help. Good beer and good food. Not even sure what we had, but it was all pretty good. Some of the translations seemed a bit "off" as there was an appetizer that said "wrist ears"...the waiter explained to us what it was and decided it was going to be fried pork rinds or fatback. It was fatback. Looking it up online later it's supposed to translate to "Christ ears"...again, not something we had ever heard of, but whatever it was fried pork and it's was pretty good. It was a good experience, and the waiter/bartender was super friendly. Definitely recommended if you happen to take the ferry across as it's right there...even if you didn't have any other plans, it's worth the trip. read more

Cool little microbrewery just off the ferry port. We got a flight of their brews. They were all decent. Nothing really extraordinary. Galere (3): A pale ale that had a mild body. Captain Philips (3.5): An American IPA that had some good hops to it. Dark Mild (3.5): A dark English ale that had a nice maltiness to it. Carcajou (3.25): Decent blend. Nothing overpowering. Goes down easily. Out of that flight, I got a pint of the Dark Mild. Just a very drinkable beer that had a good blend of flavors. Atmosphere here was awesome. Workers and patrons were super friendly. My husband is a photography enthusiast who totes his fancy camera, tripod, and multiple lenses with us on our adventures. You can imagine how excited he was to take the ferry across the river from Quebec City to Levis in order to capture shots of the skyline of Old Quebec. As the intrepid planner of the duo, I researched things to do once we disembarked in Levis. Levis is definitely sleepier and much less touristy, so planning was a piece of cake. I saw multiple mentions of a local microbrewery online and decided that it was the perfect spot to stop, take in the nice weather, and enjoy handcrafted beer. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly as we all muddled through order-taking and chatting with some combination of French, English, and hand gesturing. My husband opted for a refreshing English pale ale and I went with a cider. After enjoying our frosty beverages, we wandered back across the parking lot that separates the pub from the ferry terminal and headed back to Quebec City. They have 2 locations, the more "touristic" next to the ferry station and the "real deal", towards downtown. I've been only to the downtown, but i can't find it on yelp. So i will leave the reference here. The beer is really of good quality, and they offer tasting menus. The bar man is really cool and talkative and really into beer appreciation. The bar is metal music oriented and low key. Even on a Saturday, the clients were a bunch of regulars. Will definitely come back and will also try to find their products in Montreal read more

After over 25 hours of travel, we came into Le Corsaire tired, and hungry, and maybe a little thirsty! Ordered two taster plates, La Mer, and Charcuterie. Both have a standard 5 items, and 1 "surprise" item, and come with pickled veg, sauces, dried fruit and nuts, and both are worth a try. Aslo had the Traversante poutine, a mussel dish called L'Abysse, and a black pudding dish (favorite of the night) called Le Pavillon...and a couple others! Everything we ordered was good to very good, and the atmosphere was fun and light. Perferct spot to hit for a low key evening out! Definitely recommend. read more

Great place if you can find it at night. It's not the easiest to spot when driving around at night in an unfamiliar area. Food was excellent. My wife had the beef and salmon tartare which she she enjoyed immensely. I had the lamb burger which was was very good. I tried only two of their craft beers since I had to drive. Both were delicious. Service was fast and friendly. It's a large venue which holds quite a number of people. The only downside is the noise level which was overwhelming at times. There was beautiful views of Old Quebec across the river, especially after dark. We would definitely come back here again should we ever find ourselves in this area again. read more

JD R's comment was spot on! On our trip to QC for our honeymoon we were looking for a place that served absinthe. Not the easiest thing to find! From a little comment on a website that said something like 'I will be back to try the absinthe' we decided to take the ferry over and check out the Corsaire on the off chance that they might have some. Besides, who loses on a twilight ferry ride looking over Quebec City? GREAT SUCCESS! They had several different types to choose from that were moderately priced. There was also an option to have it the Czech way (on fire) or the traditional way (louche - basically with water added, you can look that up if you'd like, it's a ritual. My advice? Have it this way...). Though they lacked proper absinthe glasses they were prepared decently and we were able to try three different types! Also, their microbrews were really, really good. Not the usual microbrew lemon-pledge tasting swill! We had nachos as well and they were delicious. (pics added) We will be back! Stayed in an Airbnb very close, arrived in town on a wet cold Sunday after an 8 hour drive. On Sunday we missed the full menu by the time we arrived but sampled a few of their great beers. I don't get too adventurous so the Anne Bonney was perfect for me! The next night we walked back and sampled their menu. A microbrewery that makes excellent beer, and serves a limited menu of pub food. It is genuine local flavor, NOT one of the many tourist traps. It is easy to get there. Take the ferry from Old Quebec - near the fanicular - $6 round trip. The ferry ride itself is worthwhile - great views of Quebec city with photo ops. Ferries run every half hour during the day. After you exit the Levis ferry station, just walk 100 yards to your right, and enjoy excellent hand-crafted beers in a genuine French-Canadian environment. read more
