Location: Halfway down the Escallier casse cou. Those red umbrellas you see on photos? That's them. The perfect place to stop when the skies suddenly open up and soak you as you are walking down! Parking: ummmm.. why would you drive here? Place: It's a pub. Obviously havent been updated in a while but the that's what all the good pubs are like :) There are 2 sections I sat in the back part, the front was filled with customers who had been sitting out under those umbrellas before the rain came . Lots of different sized tables. Ooh they have a shelf full of board games. Food: I don't drink but they have lots of craft beers and the couple next to me loved the amount they had on tap. When I first walked in the waitress walked by with what looked like a giant lasagna with salad and I thought oh I want that. When I looked at the menu I realized they don't have lasagna and I figured it must be the croques Monsieur. So that is what I ordered and that is exactly what came. It was very generous and full of cheese which was toasted golden brown it was really good. The salad was good too really fresh the dressing was good. I'm glad I chose it. Staff was nice. They spoke both French and English depending on what you were more comfortable with. I stumbled through French because I'm in Quebec I should speak French. It was a really casual vibe it was like a nice little oasis I had been walking a lot that day and it was just relaxing and chill. Would totally go again. I really like the food. I mean there's a thousand other reasons to be in the area but in the area I would stop there read more

Smack in the middle of Old Quebec, it was the easiest spot we could get that was dog-friendly. The place is nice, kinda dive bar-ish. Decent outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They immediately offered water to my dog. They were also attentive, but seemed to be a bit scatter-brained at times. Food was good. Bar food. Can't complain. You didn't feel horrible eating it. Quite filling and tasty actually. Yes, it's in the middle of a heavy traffic area. It may seem like a tourist trap, but it isn't. Worth a stop of a good bite while going through the city. read more

Wonderful soup and beer but don't dine here if you're in a rush! When we went, they were pretty understaffed in relation to the amount of patrons. It took us over 30 mins to get soup. How long does it take to melt cheese? read more

My husband and I celebrated his 50th birthday with a trip to Montreal and Quebec City. This quaint and friendly pub was just down the street from our hotel, so we stopped in on our first night. The smoked meat sandwich was enough for us to share and had great flavor. The establishment featured a fireplace and interior stone walls, and a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Charles, the friendly bartender, introduced us to Sortilege and shared stories with us. We liked the place so much we ended up ending each of our four nights there. The streets were all but deserted at night, so we felt like we were locals hanging out with friends. read more

It was risky...we never go anywhere less than 4 stars and at the time of this review it was 3.9 stars! But the staff is A+, beer is fantastic and we have melted Brie with walnuts and honey as well as a smoked meat sandwich. Both were great and both served on or with baguette. Wait staff super friendly and let me butcher my French! Pricing was very reasonable. Outstanding soundtrack! Definitely worth another stop. read more

Pooh and I came here for a few brews (we are still here) and some munchies. We both started with pints of Griffon Red and shots of Irish whiskey and then went to shots of tequila but after one Pooh had enough; Pooh is not as crazy about tequila shots as I am. Our server was very friendly and quite busy as he was the only server here and another guy in the kitchen. After a few beers and shots we ordered a Brie plate to munch on and absorb some alcohol before we make the up hill trek back to the hotel 4 stars because they were missing products from the menus Pooh and I would definitely come back read more

They seem to be a little short on staff here. We tried to get a table for six and we were shuffled around from one person to the next. They sat three of us at a table for three as we waited for a table of six and then somehow gave our table away to another group of six that walked in after us. It was all very confusing. The woman that I thought was the hostess told me that I needed to speak with the waiter because she was getting off shift soon. I did notice people were waiting a long time for their drinks and food. So we decided to get up and leave. read more

Service was slow, food was marginal and we were seated in a back room with a view of the kitchen and shelves of old books and well-used board games. I didn't think it was particularly clean and the chairs were not comfortable. It was expensive for what we ordered. I had the "European Hot Dog" and my wife had chicken tenders, basic short order fare and we've had better. read more

Visiting this pub was one of the highlights of my trip to Quebec! Such a beautiful spot! I visited on a cold winter's night, and it was incredibly warm and cozy inside. Of all the bars in the area, Pub des Borgia had the best deal on the "pint and shot" combo that you will come across everywhere in Old Town - just $3 to add a shot of delicious local maple whiskey (on the side). Service was friendly, but I did need to go to the bar to order more drinks and to pay. No big deal. I didn't order any food, but it appeared to be the standard fried bar options. The only negative I'd say is that the food is made in the bar itself, giving the whole place a slightly unpleasant old oil smell. I really could've stayed here all night! The interior was just gorgeous. Highly recommended. read more

The location was great and the patio was quaint. We were lucky to be under an umbrella as it was spitting on and off all day. My kids ordered European Hot Dog ($7) and potato chips ($4). Portions were very generous. Cocktails are $10 each and I found the Long Island to be tasty but lacking a bit in the alcohol taste. My partner enjoyed the homemade beer. The only downside was the lack of service. The person who seated us disappeared for about 20 minutes. My partner had to go inside to flag him down, who was hanging around. Multiple tables around us got seated but quickly left when he walked passed them without taking orders. We also had to pay right when we ordered and charged us gratuity. We didn't leave much of a decent tip since we had to go to THEM to take our order. read more

We stopped here for a late dinner after walking around in the cold and wind all day. There was a guy playing the accordion who also brought us menus. Another employee cleaned our table and took our order--French onion soup, pizza and drinks. Food and drinks arrived quickly and were delicious. They played music and had tv to watch sports. Great food and service. Had the French onion soup and the wife had the ham and cheese croquet, very good. Great atmosphere!

What a great little place! We stopped in twice on our 3 day trip, so comfy, friendly and warm. We lucked out and got the sofa next to the fireplace (which I highly recommend!) The vin chaud (mulled wine) was delicious, so was the pizza and cider. The second time we ordered nachos which weren't that great, not the kind we're used to but we didn't care..we were nice and warm and comfy on the sofa catching a buzz :) I recommend stopping in here after a cold day of touring the city. read more

What an adorable little pub! This place reminded me of a little mountain ski lodge I would definitely pop in for a warm drink after a long day of skiing. It had that cozy, winter-esque, lodge feel to it. (By warm I also mean the place was legit 100F inside, and we were all shedding layers after 10 minutes of being inside the bar). Anyway, the servers were really friendly and the Canadian featured drinks were great. For some winter warmth, I highly suggest trying the Caribou, which is a Quebec drink made of red wine, hard liquor (usually whiskey) and maple syrup. It's served pipping hot and is delicious. We also did a few shots of their Canadian whiskey and maple syrup, which I loved so much I had to go on a wild goose chase to find it in their local package shop. While I did not order any food, my gf ordered the french onion soup and it looked delightful. Excellent stop for a warm cocktail on a freezing cold day! read more

This place is an embarrassment to the French. Service was good but food was sub par. Wilted lettuce and ham and cheese sandwich was disgusting. First bad meal in Quebec. Consider yourself warned. read more

We discovered Pub des Borgia at the spur of a moment. The terrasse was lovely but there was no space. We moved inside to discover it also had board games and the hockey game running in the background. The selection of beers is wide in range including local specialities. If you order a pint with a certain beers you get a maple flavoured shot for 3$. We played taboo and dominoes into the late night. There were food options available if you're hungry. Our waitress seemed a bit stressed, we had to walk up to the bar a couple of times to make orders. The bar closed at around 2 am. read more

Came to Quebec city the night of a massive snow storm with the result of everything pretty much closed due to a power outage, this place was the only thing open and I was really pleased with my overall experience. Small and quaint, warm/cozy, are the words I think of when I first walked in- it was staffed by one who was very friendly and helpful I had a croque monsieur that was so delicious and came with a little salad (im going to attempt to make it at home but will probably fail). After a cold afternoon of walking the riverside in Levis and wandering the Plains of Abraham and the Citadel, we were ready for some drinks, a snack and a little warm up. We stumbled into Pub Des Borgia at the foot of the Funicular and could not have been more charmed. The waiter asked to sit wherever we liked. That happened to be two fat chairs in front of a roaring fireplace! We ordered a beer and some wine as well as a lovely baked brie appetizer that came with a little salad, a hot baguette and was drizzled with walnut and honey. The server was super friendly and quick to come by with more glasses of wine and to stoke the fire. This was a perfect little stop that really made our afternoon! read more

I'll give the waitress a pass on being not at all attentive, several parties came in shortly after me and she was alone. That aside, the French onion soup was amazing. If I went again, I would probably choose the smoked meat sandwich with cheese over the non-cheese version. It was good, but what doesn't taste better with cheese on it? All said, a good spot for lunch and when it is a bit chilly but you still want to eat outside, they provide blankets. read more

Came down the stairs to find this little terrace with the overlook to the rest of Petit Champlain. We ordered a couple of St. Ambroise beers and fried cheese squares and kicked back to watch all of the pedestrian traffic. The selfie sticks, the small children, the bigger children on school excursions, the old and the young milling about the beautiful old city. Our waitress was lovely, and even humored me when I asked what the picture was of a car on the side of the mountain nearby. She explained the Funicular to me, and I was delighted to learn of its existence since there was no label as to what the heck it was on the map. We had a good laugh, and she was generous and kind towards me in my non-French speaking ways. We didn't get to spend much time inside, but the short walk through that I took to the bathroom showed a beautiful stone interior, the pictures do it justice. I'm really sorry that the guy who was so disappointed with the interior and ambiance and service overall. Later on we ate at L'Oncle Antoine. Noticed the menu is almost exactly the same, down to the "miam! miam!" on the bottom of the pages. Wondering if they're owned by the same company or just use the same printer. We came to this place because of the location. It is an amazing spot to people watch as it is at the corner of the busiest streets in lower Old Quebec. The beer was cold and there was a good variety but the food menu was small and not impressive. Nothing seemed made from scratch. I had the pizza and I think it was a frozen variety cooked on site. It was okay but nothing special. My husband had the smoked meat which was decent. It at least had a choice of mustards. It was probably one of the better choices on a lacklustre menu. It was served with straight out of a bag plain potato chips. The service was good. I'd come here again for the beer but I might eat before coming. read more

Good location right next to the funicular. I had a pizza and a beer and they were delightful.
