Because you see, Saint-Lazare isn't known for the coolness of its bars - or even for the mere existence of them. So I was deciding to bring them all to Burger King (which IS what Saint-Lazare is known for, actually) when I saw the Semaphore. €5 cocktails from 5 to 9pm - the well-too-classic Mojitos and Pina Colada, but also Martini Royale, Cosmopolitan, and my little favourite the Black Russian (I know, I know, disgusting, blah blah blah.) They are quite good for the price, and apparently they also have an OK choice of beer for 4-6€ a pint. As for the place itself: it's young, laid-back (babyfoot alert!), quite loud, not at all hipster. You can stay forever with your friends and nobody will try to come and force you into buying another drink. Oh, and when you begin to be angry, they have some snacks, tapas-like, at around €5 each - I didn't try them, but I saw several people ordering them, so they have to be at least OK!

The bar staff is kind and their wifi is fast if your the laptop set. Merci for such a great place and making me and my husband feel so very welcome! We go to VoulezVous each and every time when we are in La Marais. We start our day or nights here and usually end them here before taking the metro home. We come here for a lot of reason one is their happy hour and amazing prices ( Aperol Spritzes are only 8Euro and made to order) then of course there is the staff such as Adam who is so funny and welcoming. I also really love his taste in music and his vocal range. What. A. Star.

The salmon was smoked instead of a filet that I thought it would be. It was delicious and filling. Also bought a mojito since it was happy hour and 8€ rather than 10€. I wanted to try traditional French food and this place seemed to have really good reviews about it. We decided to stop by at the end of our day for some drinks and for me to enjoy duck confi. When we got there and asked for a food menu they informed us the kitchen had just closed. I was really disappointed we had just missed the service by 30 minutes but we decided to stay and order drinks anyways. After everything me and my friend had gone through to make our way to Paris the experience we had at L'escargot almost ALMOST made up for everything that had gone wrong. Me and my friend had a blast at this bar!! The bartenders spoke english and answered all our questions, they were extremely friendly and the drinks were cheap. The locals at this bar were so amazing as well. They did not speak fluent english but they did make an effort to speak to us and share their bar snacks with us. There was a group of locals celebrating a birthday party and they were dancing and were pulling people off their seats to dance with them. At one point in the night a group of other locals and tourist came in and the atmosphere in this bar got even more vibrant. Like I mentioned before the amazing experience we had in this bar almost made up for all the things that went wrong on our trip to Paris. When I go back and if I am in the area I would love to go back and have another great night like this. If you are in the area I would highly suggest you go just for the ambiance.
