I had come here in fairer weather for a daytime view (don't come in the summertime - too many people) and was pleasantly surprised by the not-too-crowded atmosphere of late September. Francis, the host of the restaurant on the floor just below the rooftop terrace, very kindly accommodated our group of 8 that showed up without reservations, thinking to chance it. Don't do what we did (though we only had to wait about an hour for a table because we showed up early, and that was easy to do on the rooftop) and make sure to book in advance. It's a bit pricey, foodwise, but it's good, and the restaurant atmosphere is lively and inviting. read more

We stopped by here after dinner. Cool little place. The block that it's on is pretty dead at night. But just just around the corner is a livelier street with little shops that sold quick eats. To get up to the rooftop bar, you get in a tiny elevator (tiny for Americans). The night we went, it was pretty chilly so they had a tent up. You could still get views of the city but it was nice to be out of the elements. It's a pretty small space but there is a ton of seating. The bar is pretty big and the bartenders were friendly and attentive. They kept telling us to let them know if we didn't like the drink so they can make something else. I can't remember what our drinks were called but they were really good. Overall Avery fun time there and would definitely go back. read more

This is my new favorite escape, and how could it not be? Paris is finding more and more ways to modernize herself - Le Perchoir is the best new example perched 7 floors above the oberkamph district with soaring views till scare coeur. Benoît Dumas le chef treats you to the most amazing dinner which consists of a fixed menu (all allergies taken into consideration of course) of multiple plates, tastings and courses - you eat like a ... New Yorker? in this modern, industrial themed environment that uses mixed materials in their natural state while respecting the aesthetic of design. And yet it's all so charmingly *French*. Le Perchoir - View from the bottom! - French Near Me - Paris, 75

Love this place for a guaranteed wow-factor. In the summer it was perhaps slightly overcrowded but mid-week in the winter you are sure to find a space to sit next to a heater with a nice blanket to cover your legs. Wine list not excellent but cocktails are good and the bartenders are definitely friendly/dressed as chimney sweeps which only goes to add to the experience. read more

This place is non-touristy, gives you a different, but great view of Paris and has a lovely outdoor terrace. The cocktails are fairly averagely priced for Paris - so, not cheap -, but they were delicious - the bar staff knows their stuff. With its unassuming, barely-signed entrance door, it has an almost East London, hipster vibe to it, but not overbearingly so, and on a sunny, warm day, it's a perfect hangout if you're looking for something a little more low-key. The food they serve out on the terrace - burgers etc. - is pretty good too. read more

RESTAURANT NIGHTMARE! One of the worst meals I have ever had in Paris. I had booked a month ahead of time and was excited to bring a client from NY to such a seemingly cool new place. We were given the worst table - just inside the door, facing the the toilets. We asked to change and it were told it was impossible, despite the fact that when we arrived the restaurant was not yet full and there were other spots open. The service was extremely rushed; the starters were served before our wine had even been ordered. We had communicated that we had two serious dairy allergies in our group (one cow milk dairy allergy - NOT an intolerance - and a medically diagnosed metabolic disorder that entails numerous sensitivities and extreme pain). Nevertheless, the main course was brought and NOTHING had been modified to accommodate us. When we asked them to please check with the kitchen to see what they could do for us, the food was removed from the table. About a half an hour later, they brought back 3 separate plates, of which 2 meats where completely overcooked and 1 was dangerously undercooked (it's pork and therefore needs to be properly cooked). I asked them to please just cancel the orders and serve only the one person at the table who could eat the 'menu' but the staff refused. They brought our food again, but 1 plate took forever to arrive. They finally agreed to bring me only the vegetables which were served COLD and tasted worse than the vegetarian meal on Air France. For dessert, there was no special effort made for us. The non allergic diner was served 3 desserts (!!!), and we got a bowl of berries. The dining staff offered no apologies for the service, the wait, the mistakes. Total disaster. I was terribly embarrassed to have brought a client to such a terrible place especially as someone who eats out on a very regular basis and is known for having fantastic insider's knowledge re: Paris dining. And to top it all off, we were charged FULL PRICE for the food!!!! 150e for 3 people while we had had next to NOTHING to eat over the course of 3 hours sitting at the drafty toilet table. We should never have been charged for those 3 meals. Had I not been with a client and had we not been so anxious to get away from the awful experience, I would have addressed this issue. But it was worth paying just to exit as quickly as possible. The only decent aspect of the night was the wine and the sommelière - Laura is adorable and the wine she suggested was perfect. read more

It is hard not to notice this place if you have ever gone for a drink or a bite to eat in the area surrounding rue Crespin-du-Gast. There is almost ALWAYS a line out the door with a farily well-to-do crowd waiting to get in. They have a bouncer and seem to offer a valet service. Given that two of my favorite bars are within seconds of this aparently highly sought after location - I had passed it up until now... However, the other night - Thursday before Easter - a little bit rainy - there was no one waiting to go in. So, with a few friends from out of town at my elbow - we decided to check it out. Once you get passed the bouncer, you come to an elevation. The elevation takes you up to a rooftop area where a collection of lounge areas and a chill bar are covered by a variety of tents. Very bohemian in appearance. Beyond this, a 360 degree view of Paris makes it a place that you should want to show off to your friends. However, everyone is smoking. Inside the tents and out - staff and customers alike. Tents are very poorly ventilated I can assure you and so the experience quickly dampered my opinion. But I said to myself - don't be a snob - this might be one of those last cool places where smokers can enjoy a cocktail without having to walk away from their table and go outside... But then I ordered a cocktail. at 13 euros a pop to start - these cocktails are more expensive than the best cocktails in Paris (as can be found at the Candeleria, Dirty Dick, the Red House, Lulu White's, the Conservarie, or the Prescription Cocktail Club...) The cocktail tasted like a 7up. If you want to have a cool bar and charge 13 euros - and you are not Indiana - please invest the extra 50 centimes it takes to make a good drink. Really disappointing. The beer selection did not look inspiring either - especially given the price of 8 euros a bottle. In any case, I will only go back to show off the view...and then I will go get a delicious rum drink for much less from Le Gast across the street, a good beer for much less at La Fine Mousse around the corner, or a Pisco Sour at El Urbano slightly further down. Long story short - if there is a line - don't waste your time... If there is no line and you smoke and just want a glass of wine, by all means... read more

It is pretty obvious why Le Perchoir has become the hippest spot of Summer 2013. Located on the 7th floor of a business building, it is the newest and probably largest rooftop terrace in the trendy Oberkampf/Mesnilmontant district. For the moment, you won't find that many tourists but the word is out so be prepared. It won't be long before international travellers hit this spot. Prices are ok (€5 for a glass of wine) and drinks are served with a genius smile. Reported to be packed on weekends, I recommend happy hour on weekdays so you can enjoy a proper wooden chair, bench, sofa etc. FYI, it also serves as a restaurant for lunch or dinner but did not get a chance to grab a bit so far ... Don't really know who runs Le Perchoir, but it should gain same sucess as Rosa Bonheur. The only question I have is how they are going to run the place in Autumn when it rains ... read more

How to say that in French ? Piège à cons. The idea of having a roof-bar in Paris is good but the way it is managed is not. Everything looks bizarre in this place. You have to wait in line in the street, you have to smile to the stupids jokes of the doorman (maybe he was drunk ?), then you have to wait for a small elevator, then you have to wait to get a drink, find a seat, etc. People upstairs look normal, the french trash bobo look, nothing interesting at all. Located near Oberkampf, Le Perchoir is a lovely rooftop bar with a nice terrace, restaurant, and sweeping views over Northeastern Paris. You will enter through an unmarked red door and take the stairs (or elevator) up 7 floors to the top. Choose from the comfy couches or bar stools inside or the plentiful lounge seating outside. The vibe here is hipster, local, and chic. Cocktails are a bit pricey (10-12 euros) but good. I would definitely recommend checking out Le Perchoir during your trip to Paris! read more

Le Perchoir - French Near Me - Paris, 75

Le Perchoir is a great place with a fantastic view. I've passed several really fun days/nights here before. I'm pushed to write this review, however, to note the horrendous attitude of the doorman. On a Monday, albeit a beautiful Monday, we get there at 18h (to be honest, with little hope of finding a spot in what has become one of the most packed terrace whenever the sun shows). The doorman tells us that it's full. Sure, no problem, it happens, we didn't show up early. Having been there several times, I surmised that some people who got there early will be leaving in a few hours, around 20h-21h. We swing back around at that time, and walking down the street, indeed see people leaving. The doorman abruptly turns on us, issues an extremely rude "I'm only letting in people I know". Several problems here. I know this is Paris and all, but a smile and a touch of service, or at the very least, politeness, goes a long way. Even then, I can get over this. But, frankly, the delusions which the doorman seemed to be under, that the Perchoir has become the Silencio of bars (an insult to Silencio, where the doorman is fine) and the way which he decides to channel it into the way he treats potential (and returning) customers is despicable. If the management learns that exclusivity (if that is what they're going for) need not come at the cost of service, Le Perchoir can be great. read more

Easily my favorite meal in Paris. We started our evening with drinks on the patio. The bartender was one of the friendliest people I met in Paris! He made my drink with great precision (measuring every pour and mixing carefully) and the drink was very refreshing. Then we headed down to the restaurant and the sommelier helped us to pick a few bottles of wine. The red wine we had was very good and met all of our preferences. The tasting menu was creative, flavorful and interesting. My favorite dishes included the warm roasted veggies, the miso steak and the egg, cream and spinach soup. YUM! read more

Le Perchoir gets 5 golden stars for having beautiful views, friendly service and tasty drinks. My French beau, Julien, took me to this place and I was expecting something less, since we had to go through the building and up a few floors. To my delight, it was wonderful and we marvelous views of Paris, especially of Le Sacre Coeur--so much so, that we decided to visit it after our drinks! I can't wait to visit this bar again and make new memories! read more

We selected this place because of the location (has a roof-top bar with a view and in a part of Paris we had not yet visited), but found the food to be quite good. The restaurant called the day before to confirm our reservation and answered questions about finding their location (not easy because there are no signs at ground level for the restaurant). For dinning, the only option offered is the surprise set course menu, but they asked about food allergies and and anything specific we didn't like. While I'm a picky eater who doesn't like a lot of things, I didn't want to offend the chef so simply told the waitress I don't eat fish. Except for the oysters, which I gave to my wife, everything else (including steak tar-tar, and lamb chop) was very good. We had drinks on the roof-top bar both before, and after dinner, to enjoy the view. While there was more cigarette smoke than we would have preferred, its seems to be the cultural norm here so we just went with it. We really enjoyed our experience here, and would recommend it to anyone visiting Paris. read more

very nice roof top! nice view over the north of Paris. Service is good and thats something important to say in Paris...come up early to avoid the crowd and have a chance to get a table. We were 2, it wasn't too much of an issue then. Wandering around is nice too. food is mostly snacks. the burger is good. read more
