Seriously beautiful... housed inside the glamorous George V hotel (even their lobby ladies' room would embarrass a reno HGTV bathroom!), upon entering the hotel... The lobby welcomes you with amazingly tall vases filled with fresh cut flowers (well it's tall to me bc I'm merely 5'1"!! LOL) and don't be afraid to ask for direction to the restaurant... Bc I don't remember where it was, all I remember was this very chic girl guiding us to Le Cinq and gave us a brief tour. We made reservation a few months in advance (Which requires an email on their general website, they will confirm it via email. Then once you are in Paris, they will call you or you can have your hotel call to confirm). It's very important that you re-confirm upon your arrival to the city of light bc they do cancel your ressie... The decor is spectacular! High high high ceiling, large windows, beautiful drapery, and the table settings are just beyond your normal "fine dining" experience (ahem.. EMP!). They even provide a little stool for your bags!! How cute is that?!? I wanted to take it home! Ok - now the food... They were mostly hits... But possibly a few miss... Or maybe because I wasn't a huge fan of the big chunk of fish... Although flaky.. It was too thick. I had the "sea bass" - loved it! and gf had that other white fish.. Can't remember the name. Didn't love it... Most memorable... The ah-mazingly sweet, perfectly cooked (bc if you over cook these babies, you can't quite chew it!), sinfully decadent Langoustines!!! I never knew mating lobsters & shrimps gives you perfect babies! Just kidding! But that's exactly what went through my head. (Had a tough time finding a NYC eats that could perfect Langoustines...). I came here for afternoon tea and a meal on two occasions. Was pretty impressed with the level of service and the quality of food on both occasions (more so on the food vs. high tea). The soft boiled hen-egg /w the artichoke puree was beyond amazing. It's the kind of wonderful taste that involuntarily brings a smile to your face when you bite into it. And the chocolate ingot dessert was like the second best thing ever. The atmosphere was amazing - definitely one of the more opulent places for a restaurant. We only had time to come for lunch, but it's actually nice to be in the dining room during the day. The setting is gorgeous with a very elegant French feel, and I loved the gorgeous white hydrangeas everywhere. We did a 4 course lunch for €150, which is a pretty hot deal compared to their regular dinner tasting. First amuse: - Parmesan cheese waffle: the highlight for me - Pear truffle - Artichoke and ricotta cheese tart - Wild mushroom bread - it tasted kind of like great pizza crust with mushrooms Bread service: - Baguette - Puff pastry with flax seeds - Salted butter from Brittany Second amuse: Mushroom purée with hazelnuts First course: Tomato tartare with sorrel sorbet and traditional accompaniments, squid ink cracker. The flavor was spot on for the tartare, and the cool sorbet was a nice contrast. Second course: One of their signature dishes - spaghetti gratin with artichoke and parmesan milk. It's individual spaghetti lined up perfectly in a circle around more spaghetti and a creamy mushroom filling. The parmesan milk is super rich and flavorful. Entree: They had a warm smoked salmon or a pork belly, but neither was really my thing, and they were nice enough to prepare a beef dish for me. It was a medium rare beef with truffle sauce and mushrooms, wrapped in fresh mozzarella. Pre- dessert: Poached yellow leach, gnocchi peach (never had this before!), and lavender ice cream. Chocolates: - Lime mousse with chocolate - Cherry flavored: the intense cherry filling inside bursts in your mouth - Hazelnut: my friend described it as an "elevated Ferrero Rocher," which was a great description Dessert: Strawberries with chantilly cream, sparkling granita, popping sugar, and a strawberry tuillex To go: they pack you a cute little bag with goodies for later - kouign amann and a box of candies. By far one of the best restaurants (if not the best restaurant) I have ate in. If I'm allowed to rate it as a 6 stars to differentiate it from my other 5 stars restaurant I would do so. This is a high class restaurant so you are expected to wear a jacket (no tie required) I didn't know that so they lended me a jacket. Before starting with the food the service was absolutely AMAZING. Everyone was joyful and very helpful. We went here for lunch given you need to make a reservation for dinner one or two month in advance. For lunch I recommend making a reservation one week in advance. We went with the 6 courses set menu for lunch. The food portions are generous for these kind of restaurants. Perfection in every way. The menu, decor, service and attention to detail made this meal perhaps the best I've had. Family of 4 for dinner, including 2 younger kids (that are able to patiently sit through a formal dinner). Very classic formal French restaurant (jackets required, even for boys), but the service was attentive without ever feeling stuffy. I was here for the tasting menu. Most of the items were very creative. My favorite dishes were the prawns, and venison. I love how tender and juicy the venison was. They did a good job making the meat moist and tender. It melted to my mouth instantly. The scallops and sea urchin combination was very refreshing. The freshness of sea urchin complemented the scallops pretty well. Moreover, the prawns were meticulously steamed. The prawns did not lose any of its favor at all. I was very impressed with their cooking techniques. Furthermore, I like the popping onion soup. I don't know how they filled the onion with soups. But, it was fun popping the onion and had the soup release in your mouth. Let's talk the desserts. My most favorite was the coffee mousse. It was dense with coffee. Delicious! Some of the dishes were a bit strange like they added salt to the jelly. Creative but didn't work. It seemed like putting food into a gelatin form was the theme. read more

Really good food with a really high price tag. Located inside Four Seasons hotel, this restaurant serves up some really delicately made and delicious food. They have a set menu with 4 or 6 courses. We ordered a la carte: white asparagus, spider crab, and onion soup for appetizer. All were very well played and flavored. Our favorite was the onion! For mains we ordered the veal, pigeon, and turbot. The veal was extremely soft and mushy... it's a texture like no other. My personal favorite was the pigeon. Perfectly marinated. The meat was also very tender! The turbot was also well flavored and extremely tender. I recommend just skipping dessert, as it's not that special. I'm sure you can find a patisserie close by that does it better at a lower price. We ordered the iced chocolate, strawberries and cream, and basal cheesecake. The basal cheesecake was pretty weird... the flavors didn't match very well. The ice chocolate was very rich... like eating a high quality snickers bar. The strawberries and cream with white chocolate ganache was probably the best one. Good balance of flavors and textures. It's definitely not worth the money to order desserts here though. What I appreciate about the restaurant is that they have many complimentary dishes. There's one between every course! At the end they even had complimentary kouign-amann for us to take home. 5 stars easily. It was Easter Sunday and lunch Le Cinq was the perfect way enjoy our last full day in Paris. I had secured lunch reservations online easily (they open them up a couple weeks at a time), and then contacted them immediately when asked to confirm. The space is just beautiful, very classic décor and accented by the 4 Seasons courtyard outside viewed through the floor-to-ceiling windows. My 5 year od son proclaimed the space to be "super fancy". We were treated like very special guests the minute we stepped up the guest desk. The hostess offered to take my shopping bag (chocolate shopping!) and led us to a table overlooking the courtyard. As many reviewers had sad, they bring out a footstool for the ladies purses which I found to be a nice touch. Now I had said in my reservation that my son is 5 years old and they were ready for him. They had mini chocolate eggs "hidden" on the table and brought out the cutest coloring book and colored pencils for him. They doted on him and checked back to ask him how he was doing. For those of you who know us, you bet W charmed the whole staff. I opted for the 4 course lunch, which if you include the amuse bouche and palate cleanser and chocolates, was more like 7 courses. Each course presented well, picture perfect and delicious. The molecular gastronomy of the amuse bouche was beautiful to look at but fun to eat. A large watery molecule, a large red berry burst, a "pizza" branch and a pickle tart. How fun is that? I started with a glass of champagne and decided on a glass of wine during lunch. The wine list by bottle is your standard phone book sized tome, but there is a nice offering of wines by the glass. The sommelier can assist you as well. Then on to the menu--First course Truffled Asparagus. Very subtle truffled sauce over a perfectly cooked (huge) stalk of asparagus. Second course was a Deconstructed Onion soup. Delicious and magical--how did the chef get soup in each small onion? Third course Cod with spinach. Delicate fish, cooked perfectly. Subtle flavor of the fish married perfectly with the spinach and other herbs. Intermezzo. Deconstructed Lemon Meringue. Little bits of meringue and lemon curd beautifully presented, fun to eat. Dessert truffles. In Paris, the chocolate must be the best and these truffles were some of the best I've had. Fourth course. Bruleed banana. Divine Chocolate cart. Yes, brought out more selections of chocolate and each one I tried were amazing. We each got a small box of caramels as well. My son (there is a children's menu) opted for the chicken breast and mashed potatoes. He loved everything and proclaimed the mashed potatoes better than his grandma's but not as good as mine (god I love this kid). I did taste the chicken and mash--I would have eaten his dish too, it was delicious! I need to get a sous vide! And the mashed potatoes were super rich and creamy and definitely much better than what I make at home. Service was impeccable. So many people worked together to give us an outstanding experience. Yup, delicious. Even though the gastropub (bistronomique) movement is going strong in France, one must give credit the the Haute Cuisine. We had to check one of these places out during our week in Paris, and decided to go with Le Cinq. Why not? Located in the George V Four Seasons Hotel on the Champs Elysees, would you expect any less in terms of opulence? There's palm trees in the dining room. Why? Because they can. The hotel is stunning, and the dining room is so over the top (like when you see pretentious fine dining in movies). Sure, the location may look pretentious, and you may run into such people. However, the captain and his team are anything but. Polite, pleasant, and utterly precise - without pretension. We went with the standard tasting since most of the menu was very interesting. However, I had read about Chef Le Squer's trademark dishes - mainly his "spaghetti" which is essentially bucatini built into a little house which contains ham, truffles, and an insane sauce. This was't on the tasting menu but was on the a la carte, but the server gladly substituted the heaviest dish on the tasting menu for this one. Excellent pace on the course deliveries, and when my girlfriend went to use the restroom the captain came by and placed a rose on her plate (evidently they do it for most women, but that night they only did it for her ;) ). She certainly got a kick out of it when she returned. All in all, the food was amazing and the wine pairings are on point. I would definitely recommend this place if you wanted to try a very classic french setting - but with an adventurous and skilled chef. read more

Finally posting a review about a meal from a month ago. Had wonderful time with my husband in this beautiful place. The restaurant is located inside the Four Seasons Hotel, to the right side when you walk in. We were he first ones to arrive for dinner and had the opportunity to embrace the beautiful ambiance of the restaurant. We chose the nine course menu, and I forgot the names of a lot of it, but I'm attaching the photo of the menu! My favorite one had to be the langoustine and the Mayo that goes over it was just heavenly. My husband really enjoyed the venison. For one of the amuse Bouche, we had a truffle filled with scrambled egg. It was such an interesting combination that I did not even think about putting it together. I must say that anything with truffle in it makes it taste 100 times better. The scrambled egg tasted more like a savory cream filling. The dessert was simply amazing. We had about three courses of just the dessert dishes followed by a cart full of dessert where I can pick and choose anything I would want to try from the cart. I was pretty full by that point that I could not take in any more food. The quality of each and every dish was excellent and the service was also top notch. It reminded of the restaurant Daniel and Le Bernardin that my husband and I went in New York City. It came out to be 800€ (about $900) for two of us (without ordering drinks), but it was a magical experience. read more

My husband and I dined here on October 15, 2018 for dinner. Reservations are made simply enough through their direct website. They will ask you to confirm your reservation by e-mail about 1-2 days prior. They are very clear upon reservation confirmation that a jacket is required for men. They do not repeat the information about dress code when they email you to confirm your reservation so ...just remember it! If you cancel within 24 hours of your reservation, there is a 200 euro per person charge (this is pretty standard for most finer dining establishment that I've been to that haven't switched to "ticketed" meals). Excellent location in the beautiful Four Seasons George V Hotel on the Champs Elysees. I don't know if there is a direct entrance that I missed, but when you enter the front door of the hotel swing right and go around (the hotel makes a circle around the outside patio and while you can see the sign for Le Cinq from the entrance, if you go right you meet a dead end ...and a nice concierge who will direct you the right way :P. I just want to say that this restaurant is excellent. The staff and service was amazing and the food was divine. My husband and I will definitely return on a subsequent trip. The staff is very attentive, very nice and they pace your meals accordingly. The food was all unique and delicious - I'm not going to go into every dish because why ruin the surprise for others? I especially love the desert and the truffles...and the cart. The dining room is richly understated in it's elegance and if you look closely what looks like elegant marble columns art actually painted on - in vein with the Louvre and very amusing to me. While this restaurant is not cheap, I feel that for the food and the service, it was worth every penny and then some. They left us with delicious caramels. Another funny thing to note: When my husband and I received the menu's, I noticed that my menu did not have any pricing on it. I don't know if this is common practice in France at finer dining establishments or perhaps because I am an asian woman and this practice is common in asian countries (It happened to us at Le Mout in Taiwan). Only my husband's menu had the prices listed. The best meal of my life. Period. We decided to have lunch here and arrived at 12. We arrived earlier than expected and had coffee and tea in lobby while we waited ($$$). At 12:30pm, we were seated in the main dining hall in these big, plush "sink right in and cozy up on" chairs. The room was breathtaking! Gold, crystal chandeliers, grandeur decor, quiet, yet romantic. Service was amazing. Truly, TRULY amazing. We were treated like royalty. Service was very friendly, efficient and quick but never once did we feel rushed. A month after we dined at Le Cinq, I sent them an email, asking them what wine we had during lunch and they remembered! Fantastic service even after the fact. The food was everything I expected and more. The presentation of the dishes were exquisite. Everything carefully planned down to the oyster shell for the caviar, fine china bowls for the savory soups and delicious foams, toppling our crab salad towers. We had the sweetbreads and roasted chicken with crayfish. I never order chicken because to me, it's so dry and boring but the chicken and crayfish was so moist and tasty. I devoured it! The sweetbreads were the BEST I ever had. I'm almost jealous I didn't get this dish! The sommelier was adorable! Cheerful, friendly and recommended a fantastic sancerre. By the end of our meal (it took almost 4 hours altogether), we were stuffed. But they offered us desserts from their insane dessert cart which we politely declined. Nonetheless, they gave us some treats anyway. It was the best lunch of my life. Luxurious, elegant and and delicious. As a 2 michelin star, it better be! I couldn't have asked for more. I'm quite surprised that Le Cinq is only a 2-Michelin Star restaurant because we had a full 3-Star evening & consider it among the best meals we've ever had From the moment we walked in the doors of the Four Seasons, we were immediately greeted & offered assistance. When informing them we were dining at Le Cinq, the doorman escorted us to the restaurant & gave us an overview of the rooms we were walking through - so nice! The hostess then escorted us to our posh table and we were off to a spectacular dining experience. The waiter approached us & confirmed we were vegetarian ( props for recognizing our special request when we booked our rezzies & not making us remind them ) and he then handed us an entire menu with vegetarian options - no hunting around for what would be suitable Amuse Bouche: fried zucchini blossom, crispy radish w diced veggies, egg shell filled w cantaloupe gazpacho & almond mousse Cucumber & tomato gazpacho - this was phenomenal & the pairing of the cucumber w/ the tomato was excellent. We almost thought there was a hint of curry or spice that gave it a slight kick but whatever it was, it was delish Soft boiled egg w/ chanterelles & parmesan brioche w green beans & chanterelles - loved the creamy yolk mixing with the woodsy mushrooms Mushroom risotto w baby veggies - we saw carrots, turnips, tomatoes & peapods. So, what's a trip to Paris without going to a 2 Michelin star restaurant and getting the full experience? Enter Le Cinq, located inside the Four Seasons Hotel George V off Champs Elysees. Random fact that Greg found out: The hotel has a flower budget of something in the ball park of one million euros a year. In case that doesn't impress you, the rest of the decor will. To take some of the sticker shock off the experience, we scheduled to have lunch instead of dinner here the day before we left Paris. To be clear, that DOES NOT mean you get anything less from a quality or service perspective. As seen in most of these traditional and upscale places, you should come dressed appropriately. That means, guys need to be wearing jacket, and women shouldn't be dressed for a Las Vegas club. This was also the first time I've ever been in a restaurant where they bring over a small stool for your precious French handbag to sit on while you dine in luxury. You're greeted immediately by about 3 people before the sommelier comes over and asks if you'd like to start off with a glass of champagne. Don't confuse this with the free table bread that comes when you sit down at places, the champagne glasses we ordered showed up on the check. We selected the 3 course prix fixe option and I fully accepted the likelihood that I would need to be rolled out of the restaurant by the end of our meal. Here's what went down: Dish #1: A beautiful bread basket came around and with it came two options for butter: traditional and seaweed-infused butter! The seaweed butter was a little strange, but absolutely worth trying. We had to pace ourselves, otherwise I would have asked to try each bread option in that basket. Dish #2: Palate cleanser that came with prawns three ways: the head served up as a crispy chip, the body that was served cold with a light green sauce, and a lobster mousse with fruit at the bottom. Yes, strange, but incredibly delightful. Greg wasn't too keen on it, but I thought it was amazing. Dish #3: As my first appetizer, I selected the Marennes Oyster variations, which meant that I got oysters four ways: in a sorbet, 3 raw on the half shell, in a curry foam, and oysters in a prawn soup. My favorite: the 3 raw on the half shell was absolutely incredible. Especially the raw oyster with the green apple and wasabi. This all literally blew my mind. Greg opted for the poached foie gras with hibiscus. The foie gras was LITERALLY a steak-sized slabs. They were HUGE! Greg thought eating that much foie gras in one sitting was a little too much, so in order to conserve stomach space, he had to resist finishing the dish. The hibiscus really added to the dish since we don't see that combination in SF (actually we don't see foie gras) at all. Dish #4: Iberian Black Pork Pressa with chantrelle mushrooms, cabbage with ginger, and browned onion. This definitely falls into the category of one of the best things I've ever had. Both Greg and I are HUGE fans of Iberico pork and consider it one of our favorite types of pork of all time. Everything on the dish got eaten. Yes, even the garnishes got eaten. It was one of the best dishes I've ever had! Dish #5: A little palate cleanser that was a citrus sorbet in lychee type sauce. Much needed after that pork and in prep for dessert! Dish #6: I had the As A Russet Apple Tart Tartin served with Provence quince marmelade and saffron sorbet. Greg had the Grapefruit cocktail with vanilla, which came with pineapple carpaccio, rum and tonka bean ice cream. My dessert was literally the cutest thing I had ever seen! Greg thought his dessert brought on a whole onset of feelings: light but rich, refreshing but heavy, and most importantly, delicious by all standards. Finally came my favorite part: Black Forest Water and the dessert cart! By this point, it was getting ridiculous. I couldn't really put down much more, so I asked for a cappuccino to aid the digestion process. Then, the dessert cart showed up. We had a few types of chocolate, a mini cake, a lemony pastry and some other randomly delightful things before saying "non merci" when that cart came around. Service here was absolutely outstanding. I know you expect good service when you throw down money, but the service here was the best I had ever experienced. Everyone was incredibly polite to us, helped us understand each dish when it was presented, and even made some small talk along the way during our 3 hour adventure. "Éric Briffard should have three stars - he should have had it a year" said yet another. With these statements in mind and Saturday lunch service it wasn't a question of if we should visit Le Cinq at The George V during our trip to Paris-it was a question of which Saturday was a better fit for our schedule. Making our way to the doors of the restaurant we were greeted en route and walked the last twenty feet - my bag was taken and stored before I even knew what happened and upon stating our name the service captain responded with "Yes, of course, from Ohio-how was your flight?" Appropriately impressed and chatting as we made our way through the glorious baroque dining room my very first thought echoed the comments of my friend-I'd never seen a room like it - intricate molding, floor to ceiling windows, oil paintings, and gold leaf, crystal and silver aplenty. With chairs pulled out in synchrony and seated on pillow soft chairs at a two top large enough for four our comfort was assured and a purse stool appeared for my sister's bag...the service, too, lived up to the hype-a well oiled machine meant to make you feel like royalty. For my first course the kitchen deftly showed its hand with Japanese presentations in delivering Toro Tartar with Green apple Gelee, Pea, Caviar, and Fresh Wasabi. Neglecting the wasabi and focusing strictly on the fish, a pylon shaped ounce or two topped with a pyramid of briny fish eggs, this was a nicely cleaned and presented tartar with the fish eggs providing plenty of accent, but what truly stood out about the dish was actually the impressively sweet double shucked peas - nearly raw in texture and quite unlike the way we see peas served in the US. For my second course, "Green Asparagus from Luberon rapidly cooked in olive oil with gnocchi, chives, and pork jus" plus a side plate of Matcha Tea Frozen yogurt, Asparagus sorbet, and Lemon brioche. Thick and snappy the Asparagus quality was perhaps the best of the trip while the solo gnocchi was a flawless pillow that simply made me wish for more. With the first plate rather traditional, the more interesting part of this dish was the side-an intensely bitter yet vegetal frozen yogurt topped with creamy sorbet that truly did taste like a 50/50 admixture of sugar and the essence of Asparagus. Next would be one of the ten best things I tasted in Paris served simultaneously; the first being Duck Foie Gras from the Landes Region with Sarawak Pepper Roast, Rhubarb, Strawberries from a Provencal Garden, and Elderberry Juice. Always a fan of cold Foie Gras preparations as compared to warm this dish was an eye opener and every bit on par with the my favorite seared version of all time at L2o. Described as first roasted and then lightly seared the liver itself was so smooth and supple that it barely held its form, instead melting into a luscious pool and melding with the fruit juices while the pepper added a note of spice serving to contrast the sweetness of the strawberry. Sharing the rabbit across the table and making a mess of the linen (which my sister jokingly pointed out to our server) the next thing to arrive at our table was a cover-up table cloth - and rose petals jokingly arranged to cover the corners - and after that was my "Blue Lobster Pot roasted in Baby Garlic, Freshly Squeezed Pinot Noir grape Jus, Confit Pork Belly, Lobster Stuffed Morels and Crunchy Cabbage with Ginger." With the lobster easily cut with the edge of a fork and more buttery than garlic the morels were actually the standout of this dish - stuffed with a lobster sausage mixed with what I believe was aged cheese...both would go beautifully with the jus. For my first dessert at Le Cinq I was treated to a large cocktail glass described on the menu as "Red Fruit Cocktail with Hibiscus Jelly, Basil Froth." In reality the "red fruits" would consist of at least five - standard large strawberries, fraises des bois, raspberries, currants, and pomegranate - resting in an aromatic mélange of their juices and topped with a strawberry sorbet champagne cream touched with basil. With all the fruits as ripe and tasty as expected the most impressive aspect of this dish was the smell - like walking in an early summer garden. Next was "After Eight Chocolate Bar, Peppermint Granita." Served elegantly with seven variations of chocolate including the crispy base the dish was beautiful and dotted with spots of menthol that acted largely as an accent, not overwhelming as mint can tend to be. Creamy and crunchy with oodles of nuance the dish was additionally playful with the addition of pop-rocks to the center layer adding a totally unexpected surprise. On my last day in Paris, I had the pleasure of dining at Le Cinq, which is run by former Ledoyen Chef de Cuisine Christian Le Squer. The newly minted three Michelin star restaurant is located in the Four Seasons Georges V Hotel. Upon entering the hotel I was greeted with the lovely scent of fresh bouquets of flowers, notably roses and lilac. The setting inside Le Cinq is opulent and reminiscent of the 19th-century French aristocracy with its lavish oil paintings, ample gold, and crystal chandeliers. Despite the grandeur, there was a warm and inviting aura. The 1st Appetizer (or the real first course) was white asparagus with mustard vinaigrette and a cherry reduction. The two spears of white asparagus were perfectly cooked to a juicy texture. I find that white asparagus is far sweeter and not as pungent as its green counterpart due to fewer sulfuric compounds. The creamy mustard had a medium spice level similar to horseradish and accentuated the sweetness of the asparagus. The cherry reduction was nice although not necessary. I thought it was clever to also use the slivered asparagus as it showcased the versatility of texture. The gratinated onions served contemporary "Parisien Style" is one of Chef Le Squer's signature dishes. He successfully takes a classic dish and reinvents it in a modern manner without losing the spirit of what a French onion soup is. The mini onion spheres were filled with onion broth while the gratinated Parmesan cheese disque decorated the bottom of the dish. Mini pieces of toasted croutons were topped off. The mini onions burst with the slightest pressure and the consommé incorporated the perfect harmony of sweet and savoury flavours. The taste was very familiar, but the presentation was unique although akin to soup dumplings. I'm still mystified at how they transfer the soup into the thin onion skin. When I asked the waiter, he simply smiled and told me it's a kitchen secret. For the main course, I chose the grilled pigeon breast with black truffles, olive tapenade, and steamed turnip. Pigeon is a protein I've wanted to try but many restaurants don't offer it and with good reason. It's a difficult protein to cook right as the leanness and miniature size almost guarantee an overcooked bird for the inexperienced chef. To execute this requires an innate precision for timing. Thankfully my pigeon was cooked to a perfect medium (just as I requested). The meat was rich and tender without being aggressively gamey. The tapenade burst with umami and with a hint of sweetness which was a superb foil to the pigeon. For dessert, I opted for the cherries cooked in Kirsch with pistachio ice cream. Again I must comment on how gorgeous the presentation was! The colors were vibrant and the cherries glistened like rubies. Notice how the tasting menu used cherries in sweet and savoury dishes. That is a sign of a true master chef as the limits and boundaries of food pairings begin to blur. The pistachio ice cream was nutty and the coating of the pistachio powder helped prevent premature melting. The cherries were soaked in Kirsch which brought a mild bitter-almond taste to prevent the cherries from becoming cloy. A sophisticated dessert is never overly sweet which is one-dimensional but is accentuated by acidic, salty, or bitter notes. In this case, the Kirsch provided the latter. Le Squer's dishes are innovative and modern while adding a playful and whimsical touch. He succeeds at taking the pretentiousness out of French haute cuisine. His cuisine is artistic, intriguing and stimulates the mind as well as the senses. This is certainly the best meal I had in Paris. Would definately recommend over Ledoyen. read more

This is the best restaurant ever! Trust me, I'm a tough critic and most places usually just get 3 stars, but everything here was amazing. The atmosphere, the food, the service, all excellent. I can see why this is a 3 Michelin star. Every dish was delicious. All the servers were very attentive. My husband spilled something on his sleeve and immediately a server brought him a hot towel to wipe it and even offered to clean it for him. The champagne here was really good too. I forget what I had, but it was a reserve from 2006. We only got a glass of wine to pair with the dinner and their recommendation was also good. Located in the fabulous four seasons hotel that had amazing Valentine decorations, Le Cinq contradicts every single cliche about French hospitality or lack of. It is the most friendly culinary temple I've ever had the pleasure to enter. The staff is professional, friendly, courteous and reserved when necessary. The chef, who just got his third Michelin star, came by and we had a ball talking about nonsense. The food was quite spectacular. We went for the 9 course menu. It will set you back a bit but one doesn't do this every day. And the setting of the restaurant. Just amazing. We spent three and half hours in the restaurant and I didn't watch my clock once, and I'm as impatient as they come. An amazing evening in Paris. read more

Quite possibly the best meal I've ever eaten. No dining experience has ever come close to as amazing as this. From the moment you step into the lobby you see a magical place. There was a pergola holding lovely purple irises suspended upside down in the air. The dining room was no less spectacular. We were whisked away to our seats where my purse was immediately scooped up from deigning to touch the floor and placed delicately upon its own stool. As soon as we were given our menus we were offered Champagne that flowed freely the rest of the evening. Every morsel of food was enjoyed thoroughly and we spent the night in a culinary heaven. As the last two dining we were never urged to finish, but kept quite lubricated by the golden bubbly. The best most delicate and moist Fois Gras I have ever tasted. The service was decadent and attentive - unmatched by any other. We were even given a small box of chocolates to take home to enjoy later. Just be sure to be prepared for an extremely expensive menu, but you pay for the experience and memory of the best meal of your life. Ladies - no worries here, you won't know how much your meal will cost you, because it is uncouth for the gentleman to reveal how much he is spending for your company, and the menu wont give it away either. Me and my friend went there on a Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was decorated with flowers and it looks like a gorgeous palace. We opted for the lunch menu and surprisingly. they started with some complimentary starters: a dessert, biscuits,raspberries balls, tart, fish cuisine and deep bakery bread. We were almost full after only complimentary cuisines. Then four courses came up with pre dessert. The scallop is amazing, onions are sophisticatedly mixed with truffles and pepper, and Mullet is so savory, which makes me strongly recommended Le Cinq. It is absolutely an abundant, delicious, full of creation, with tempted looking and proper French lunch. What makes want to cry is that they also serves you with a variety of new selections of chocolate, nougat candies, marshmallows and even and additional box of caramel for you to appreciate on another day. It was all in all an unforgettable experience and rather than a lunch, it's sort of more of an unique art appreciation tour in the middle of romantic Paris ! Friends told me that their lunch is pretty good, boy, I was shockingly surprise, and do not know how can this place got 3 star Michelin? Yes, service is Michelin rated to be very attentive, but foods only has the look, no smell and taste funny!!! Especially the main dish with either rice or mushrooms, really could not see if they brought out the best of the ingredients at all!!! Ladies - come here for some guilt-free gold-digging because only the gentlemen's menu contains prices. I was overjoyed by this and immediately went on an ordering rampage, pointing wildly at all sorts of items on my cost-free menu such as lobster and...oh, would I like a glass of pink champagne? Why, don't mind if I do! What sets Le Cinq apart from other restaurants is the ambiance. The dining room is opulent, ornate and slightly stuffy in the sense that I couldn't act like my usual whore-ible self. The food, while delicious, felt a little uninspired when compared to Quince in San Francisco. I tried the veal and aforementioned lobster - both entrees were rolled out on carts and plated tableside, which I enjoyed watching immensely but didn't find particularly memorable in taste. The seared foie gras was good, but paled in comparison to Le Comptoir De La Gastronomie's for a fraction of the price. The free bread was marvelous though. I ate piece after piece of that buttery, flakey brioche while ignoring my screaming thighs. I also loved the marshmallow lollipop from the complimentary dessert cart. When I informed one of the servers that it was my favorite, he quickly ran back to the cart to grab another one for me. Too bad I was too embarrassed to tell him that I really wanted ten more. Service was extremely precise, professional and warm. My only complaint is that our original server disappeared toward the end of the night, leaving us confused about how to get our check. All is forgiven though, because the staff took a picture of us and framed it in a card as an awesome souvenir at the end of the night. The dining room was magnificent and our appetizers were phenomenal. It was the start to a perfect evening. Service was exquisite. We ordered the Maki Rolls of Red Shrimps from Sicily to start along with the langostine appetizer. Two of the best dishes of our entire trip! So why only four stars? We shared the lamb entree that is for two people and cooked for 17 hours in a tajine with spices and raisins. We were expecting a braise or at least a fork tender piece of meat. What we got was more of a rustic chunk of meat that unfortunately lacked flavor. The sauce was thin and it was really disappointing. Their bread service also fell flat for me. Of the three Michelin star restaurants we went to on this trip, this was not my favorite. Cheese cart and dessert are not memorable. Overall a nice experience, but we will try somewhere else the next time we are in Paris. read more
