A great local watering hole in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Good pub grub and a full bar selection. Vibrant Irish feel without being fake. The servers are attentive and friendly. They have a variety of seating options; upstairs, downstairs and outside. It has a good vibe and diverse clientele. Most people are not in a rush and they have very little tourist traffic. I never stepped foot here but made several Seamless and Grubhub delivery orders from Le Chéile and it was always for the Le Chéile burger. I love burgers a lot and that was the only item I always ordered and nothing else from this place. At first when I placed my first order I did not know if it came with fries because fries were not listed on the menu. Surprisingly it did come with fries. Burger patty was very thick all the time but too moist for my liking. Also very soft and drenched in lots of seasoning of onions. Very salty and just too much seasoning that is overly done for my taste buds. The brioche buns were shiny and fancy for a burger but it was just too much for me. I love the fries though. 5/10/25 portion sizes have shrunk and the price has gone up at this place. The Mac and cheese used to be my favorite thing to buy here but the portion is about 2 to 3 spoonfuls of Mac and cheese now and the price went up. The wait staff is the best thing about this place. There isn't much about this place that is Irish. The staff is definitely not Irish, the interior is more of a haunted house vibe, and the menu is very generic. The service is poor. Servers don't check on anyone in the restaurant. Ever. Every patron had to ask the mini queen behind the bar for extra water or condiments. The food is very bland. Very simple. First timer, sign said 'wait to be seated,' so I waited ... and waited, and awkwardly waited. Not sure how long I waited, but it was awkwardly long, like, what am I doing wrong, I'm waiting as the sign said to do. When someone finally noticed someone standing at the entrance, she came over and didn't apologize and treated me like I maybe I shouldn't have read the sign AFTER I pointed at the sign and said I was simply waiting to be seated. So, I finally just sat myself. While I was taking my jacket and scarf off a small family came in. They were barely in the door when they were greeted, at the door. They were already at their table as I was sitting down. They were waited on and received their drinks/beers before anyone come to my table. Again, an awkwardly long time, not sure how long that was either. Not sure how much longer I was going to have to wait, I was dressed and just leaving the table to leave when someone finally came over. I guess he realized that after no one seated me after an awkwardly long time that no one also came to my table after another awkwardly long time? I guess everyone there is used to ignoring the sign? Perhaps remove the sign if you want us to seat ourselves? The bartenders should prob not watch TV so much also, looked like what he was doing the entire time I was waiting at the front door, other than serving a couple of patrons at the bar while never looking at the front door. Dear Le Chéile Team, I have been coming to Le Chéile for years and have always loved the sense of community and great experiences. However, for the first time, I left feeling disappointed after this year's St. Patrick's Day celebration. My daughter and I were looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere and a nice meal together, but we found the menu to be unexpectedly strict, offering only Irish dishes. While I understand the significance of celebrating Irish culture on this day, it would have been helpful to have more flexibility especially for families with children. A more accommodating kids' menu, even if just for a couple of hours, would make a huge difference for those visiting with little ones. Additionally, I ordered the Irish stew with mashed potatoes, but I was surprised and disappointed by the portion size there were only three small pieces of beef. Over the years, I've noticed a decline in both the quantity and quality of the food, which is unfortunate. The drinks, as always, were great, but a well-rounded dining experience matters too. Has something changed in the kitchen or overall approach to the menu? I'd love to continue supporting Le Chéile, but I hope these concerns can be addressed in the future. read more

I was very pleased with everything here. The safety measures were on point. Temperature taking, contract tracing form, sanitizer and mask wearing when not seated. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. The atmosphere was what you would hope for in an Irish pub.. Cool, fun with great food and drinks. They checked all boxes. I ordered the chicken fingers & mozzarella sticks along with a few IPA's. All great. Best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. Wow! I was shocked by the unprofessionalism I experienced at this establishment. My girlfriend and I were at the bar when an employee (Short red head) without any justification, accused me of making them feel unsafe. I was immediately asked to leave After I had already paid my tab and was preparing to leave, this same employee approached me to tell me I wasn't allowed back. This accusation was completely unfounded The way this entire situation was handled--without any communication or fair treatment--was both embarrassing and unacceptable. I understand the need to maintain a safe environment, but there was no attempt to verify the claims, hear my side, or handle the situation professionally. Chiele sits on a street stripped with some cool cafes giving washington Heights its formal step into Bushwick level gentrification. Vegan items on the menu and $3 happy hour beers are your first clue. Chiele is clean comfortable and hangoutable. It's a stand out in the neighborhood with its happy hour and decent food. There's a wide assortment of beers and I fell in love with this scrumptious orange cider, the Boo had a house ale that he loved. Tonight, I was craving a piece of carrot cake and instead of buying from the supermarket, ordered from them. Usually, the piece was generous, sometimes I couldn't finish. So, I ordered a slice to go, got it home and opened it......to my shock.......it was 1/3 of what they used to serve. Sloppily in a tin take out container. $8 plus tax, almost $9 dollars for maybe three bites of mediocre carrot cake. You should be absolutely ashamed. Please see the photo. I Sooooo want this place to succeed, because it's a nice variation in the neighborhood. Sadly, after a few tries, it's not working. The latest was the veggie chili, which claims to be beans, corn, carrots, peppers, and onions. This is the result: a pool of cheese and beans. I LITERALLY couldn't find even a single piece of carrot, pepper, or onion. Two stars, mainly for the decent tortilla chips only. :( read more

Had an amazing brunch here recently with a friend. Not only is the restaurant filled with natural light but the walls are covered in old school photos. Tons of character. Whenever I go to visit my friend uptown, I come to this place. They play good music, the food is not bad, and the place is nice. The service is good, the guys working here are very friendly. You can either sit inside or outside. For summer is a great place to come and chill out. I love the area and the people around. This Monday I came to celebrate my friend's birthday who lives few block from here. Oh boy we ate a lot! Chicken wings, pasta, soup, etc. We had wine and the weather was just perfect. We had a really good time. Unfortunately due to the new mayor's "regulation" you won't be able to sit inside (this is getting crazier and crazier, seriously) unless of course ..... Le Chéile has been in the neighborhood for over a decade and has become a staple of good beer, good pre-Covid entertainment, and good brunches. I used to eat dinner there when fully employed. Now it is one of the lifelines of a crowded neighborhood that needs good food and libations more than it ever has. I had a birthday yesterday and was getting over the flu. What did I want? A good burger. Up around 187th, they're few and far between. You end up buying raw ingredients, more of the time. I wanted one from a professional kitchen. I would review my latest transaction with notably hurt feelings - that while the food I got was nice in quality (particularly the fries which I did not order), the presentation, after a four minute walk home, using a padded shopping bag, was disheartening. All was in order - just cold. I can't understand why - for $16.33 (high for this area of town) - I couldn't have hot food at 2pm (an hour not the middle of the lunch rush, but who cares). At the window I was informed that there was no posted menu because I had to use my smart phone with a QR code. Not interested in playing with the phone, I cut to the matter at hand and ordered a burger with salad - sight-unseen. About 15 minutes of sidewalk bench-sitting later, my order was available. I carted it home only to discover that the salad I expected had been transmogrified into fries (not the best when you're coming off of a dizzying virus) and what was left was barely warmer than the room, even though the food had sat in a lined box and been transported home within an insulated bag. My conclusion is that I probably was probably made to wait a good seven minutes longer than I needed to. The food must have sat around in under a lamp. There was no apparent urgency in getting me my order, which was handed to me by a separate employee from the person who had taken my order. Hopefully my cash tip was pooled. In short, what should have been a pleasant experience was kind of sad and disappointing, based mainly on the lax attitude behind the service and the feeling resulting from eating apparent leftovers for a premium price. read more

The place looks amazing from the outside. The inside as well, Decorations 360 all over the restaurant.
