The house lager was good and on happy hour price! Also had the Dogfish 60. So they do have beers that I like. My family had their prosecco and they were enjoying it. I had the wings. They were ok. Could be crisper, the skin tasted boiled. The rice and beans were really good and flavorful and the fish and chips were tasty. Fries were really good. Service was decent! The vibe appeared to be more for locals. read more

Excellent casual spot! Everything was so fresh and delicious! I would order everything I had again. Veggie sandwich I added grilled chicken too. Chicken was done perfectly and I loved the pesto! Nice salad along with it. Gazpacho was refreshing for the summer! Carrot cake was fantastic! So fresh and melt in your mouth with fresh raisins and the drizzle of caramel sauce. Loved it! Very nice service too read more

Le cheile was able to sit my party of 12. They have a variety of different seating options: upstairs, outside and they have downstairs. The servers were friendly, attentive and had a lot of patience for a party of 12. The food was good. I ordered the fish and chips I liked the fish the batter was light and crispy the tartar sauce delish. I had a few bites of the flounder special with mash zucchini and mushrooms in a lemon sauce and it was amazing. Their limoncello spritz was strong just how I like it. Definitely a good place to come an visit in the neighborhood. Casual vibes. read more

A great local watering hole in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Good pub grub and a full bar selection. Vibrant Irish feel without being fake. The servers are attentive and friendly. They have a variety of seating options; upstairs, downstairs and outside. It has a good vibe and diverse clientele. Most people are not in a rush and they have very little tourist traffic. A great place to have good conversations with family, friends and who knows you might even find some new friends sitting at the bar. read more

I never stepped foot here but made several Seamless and Grubhub delivery orders from Le Chéile and it was always for the Le Chéile burger. I love burgers a lot and that was the only item I always ordered and nothing else from this place. At first when I placed my first order I did not know if it came with fries because fries were not listed on the menu. Surprisingly it did come with fries. Burger patty was very thick all the time but too moist for my liking. Also very soft and drenched in lots of seasoning of onions. Very salty and just too much seasoning that is overly done for my taste buds. The brioche buns were shiny and fancy for a burger but it was just too much for me. I love the fries though. They always give a lot. read more

Good food and good vibes. Out of food items later at night but considering I usually come in 15-30 minutes prior to closing that is expected. Never out of a burger and fries which is all I could really ask for. Despite the negative comment, still going 5 stars since the staff is welcoming, kind, and attentive. The earlier mentioned burger and fries is delicious! read more

5/10/25 portion sizes have shrunk and the price has gone up at this place. The Mac and cheese used to be my favorite thing to buy here but the portion is about 2 to 3 spoonfuls of Mac and cheese now and the price went up. The wait staff is the best thing about this place. But unfortunately I will not be going back. And for some weird reason we've learned on the past with this place you get better portion sizes when you order delivery. read more

There isn't much about this place that is Irish. The staff is definitely not Irish, the interior is more of a haunted house vibe, and the menu is very generic. The service is poor. Servers don't check on anyone in the restaurant. Ever. Every patron had to ask the mini queen behind the bar for extra water or condiments. The food is very bland. Very simple. Look at the picture of the onion on my burger.... Come on do better. Bread was stale and flakey. This place must still exist because lack of other options. People are settling. read more

First timer, sign said 'wait to be seated,' so I waited ... and waited, and awkwardly waited. Not sure how long I waited, but it was awkwardly long, like, what am I doing wrong, I'm waiting as the sign said to do. When someone finally noticed someone standing at the entrance, she came over and didn't apologize and treated me like I maybe I shouldn't have read the sign AFTER I pointed at the sign and said I was simply waiting to be seated. So, I finally just sat myself. While I was taking my jacket and scarf off a small family came in. They were barely in the door when they were greeted, at the door. They were already at their table as I was sitting down. They were waited on and received their drinks/beers before anyone come to my table. Again, an awkwardly long time, not sure how long that was either. Not sure how much longer I was going to have to wait, I was dressed and just leaving the table to leave when someone finally came over. I guess he realized that after no one seated me after an awkwardly long time that no one also came to my table after another awkwardly long time? I guess everyone there is used to ignoring the sign? Perhaps remove the sign if you want us to seat ourselves? The bartenders should prob not watch TV so much also, looked like what he was doing the entire time I was waiting at the front door, other than serving a couple of patrons at the bar while never looking at the front door. If I try this again, perhaps Le Chéile can treat me to the Shephard's Pie on the house? Is really all I came for. I just moved here and was excited to see it on a menu here. What say you Le Chéile? (I was the guy in the U.S. Navy jacket.) read more

Not really sure what has happened to this once neighborhood favorite. Staff seems to be more interested in drinking behind the bar and ignoring people and watching whatever game is on TV than actually doing staff-related activities. read more

Their kitchen is open for lunch. The beer selection is not great. Could use a German or Austrian pils. The Buffalo wings are also not really Buffalo - sort of a ketsup meets bbq meets something ? The Korean quesadilla is crazy tho, & the salads are also good. Very clean, friendly staff, & friendly regulars. Good vibe all around. read more

Dear Le Chéile Team, I have been coming to Le Chéile for years and have always loved the sense of community and great experiences. However, for the first time, I left feeling disappointed after this year's St. Patrick's Day celebration. My daughter and I were looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere and a nice meal together, but we found the menu to be unexpectedly strict, offering only Irish dishes. While I understand the significance of celebrating Irish culture on this day, it would have been helpful to have more flexibility especially for families with children. A more accommodating kids' menu, even if just for a couple of hours, would make a huge difference for those visiting with little ones. Additionally, I ordered the Irish stew with mashed potatoes, but I was surprised and disappointed by the portion size there were only three small pieces of beef. Over the years, I've noticed a decline in both the quantity and quality of the food, which is unfortunate. The drinks, as always, were great, but a well-rounded dining experience matters too. Has something changed in the kitchen or overall approach to the menu? I'd love to continue supporting Le Chéile, but I hope these concerns can be addressed in the future. read more

I was very pleased with everything here. The safety measures were on point. Temperature taking, contract tracing form, sanitizer and mask wearing when not seated. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. The atmosphere was what you would hope for in an Irish pub.. Cool, fun with great food and drinks. They checked all boxes. I ordered the chicken fingers & mozzarella sticks along with a few IPA's. All great. Best mozzarella sticks I've ever had. Wow! Sad, barely cooked chicken tenders and fries that were undercooked and barely warm. I had two beers, the second of which I had to walk around the bar and get myself when the bartender went AWOL (the beer was poured but sitting under the tap). And this is midafternoon on a Monday, not terribly busy. I used to live down the street and came here all the time, getting chicken tenders and fries. I don't remember them being this sad. read more

Nothing special here. The Burgers are you best bet, but expensive for what you get. My major complaint is that they DO NOT CHANGE THE FRY OIL often enough and much of the fried food tastes on the edge of rancid. Also who dilutes the sour cream? read more

Chiele sits on a street stripped with some cool cafes giving washington Heights its formal step into Bushwick level gentrification. Best place in the world! I love it here and highly recommend this as a NYC staple to all tourists and all those who haven't had the pleasure of dining there. Don't miss out. Seriously. Food is to die for here. These kind of amazing pub/restaurant experiences are a rare gem and a must for any time of the day. Brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert, you name it, each one they knock out of the park. The kitchen staff, the servers, the managers, all are incredibly welcoming and accommodating to all sorts of needs. Thank you, Le Chéile. I've shared so many great memories with you over the years and look forward to many more delicious meals and cozy nights with you. gemineyez read more

I've been here a few times and had a solid experience so I decided to come here on July 4th with friends. For the price, the food I received was abysmal. Pictures speak for themselves. I was shocked by the unprofessionalism I experienced at this establishment. My girlfriend and I were at the bar when an employee (Short red head) without any justification, accused me of making them feel unsafe. I was immediately asked to leave After I had already paid my tab and was preparing to leave, this same employee approached me to tell me I wasn't allowed back. This accusation was completely unfounded The way this entire situation was handled--without any communication or fair treatment--was both embarrassing and unacceptable. I understand the need to maintain a safe environment, but there was no attempt to verify the claims, hear my side, or handle the situation professionally. For an industry that thrives on customer service and fairness, this kind of defamatory behavior is shocking. I left deeply disappointed and will not be returning. read more

Great neighborhood spot! Warm, welcoming and good food and excellent drinks. What more could you ask for?! There's a wide assortment of beers and I fell in love with this scrumptious orange cider, the Boo had a house ale that he loved. Hugh praise from a man who's spent quite a bit of time in Brussels, Ireland and the UK. We also enjoyed our food ...I had the fish and chips. Good. Though I wish my fish had been fried a teeny tiny bit crispier. The Boo had the chicken sandwich and it looked delicious. He said it was...since a bite wasn't offered, I'll take his word! The service was excellent. Warm. Attentive and professional. Perfect place to unwind. read more

So, I know that the pandemic is effecting restaurants but.........come on. Before the pandemic I frequented Le Chéile and loved the burgers, sweet potato fries and desserts. See my previous review. Tonight, I was craving a piece of carrot cake and instead of buying from the supermarket, ordered from them. Usually, the piece was generous, sometimes I couldn't finish. So, I ordered a slice to go, got it home and opened it......to my shock.......it was 1/3 of what they used to serve. Sloppily in a tin take out container. $8 plus tax, almost $9 dollars for maybe three bites of mediocre carrot cake. You should be absolutely ashamed. Please see the photo. When ordering from them, don't expect what they used to be - lower that standard at least 50%. read more

I came as a party of three mid afternoon. We sat outside which was nice. Pros: server was very nice and attentive Atmosphere was good, never felt rushed (it was not busy) beers were cold Cons: food left much to be desired Chicken breast with veggies -the breast was grilled and was dry but ok, the veggies (brussel sprouts and broccoli) were swimming in some sort of soy based sauce-it was mostly inedible. 2nd person ordered Chicken and veggies (beets and mashed) were ok-her chicken was inedible. Third perosn ordered a sandwich with fries, he enjoyed the sandwich but his fries were so greasy he opted not to eat them. Overall, it was not a bad time (due to the company) but I do not see myself returning. read more

The food was a huge let down! The soup was super salty, my partner barely touched it and couldn't even finish it, neither the Mac. The server we had disappeared, most likely done with their shift but didn't give a heads up so we told the bartender about the soup. At the end they tried to charge for the soup still but we reminded him and it was fixed. First time I bring him to my area and was disappointed, I've come here with my family before and we had a pleasant time...it has change. They're very generous with the wine pour so I give them that. read more

I Sooooo want this place to succeed, because it's a nice variation in the neighborhood. Sadly, after a few tries, it's not working. The latest was the veggie chili, which claims to be beans, corn, carrots, peppers, and onions. This is the result: a pool of cheese and beans. I LITERALLY couldn't find even a single piece of carrot, pepper, or onion. Two stars, mainly for the decent tortilla chips only. :( read more

ARGH - they never seem to get my burger temperature right, but I love their convenient spot near my home and the fact they are open hella late like all NYC places should be (hello, we're in the city that doesn't sleep!! Even uptown!). BUT they have a chicken sandwich that has some sort of spicy Mayo and avocado ...don't recall the name but CHILE. So good. All I am ordering from now on so I'm not disappointed by my burger order. Their spicy margaritas are on point too. This Monday I came to celebrate my friend's birthday who lives few block from here. Oh boy we ate a lot! Chicken wings, pasta, soup, etc. We had wine and the weather was just perfect. We had a really good time. Unfortunately due to the new mayor's "regulation" you won't be able to sit inside (this is getting crazier and crazier, seriously) unless of course ..... Le Chéile \leh 'kay-lah\ = a Gaelic phrase that has no English language equivalence, but the concept is universal for "together"; a filial unity, communal strength, spiritual wholeness, the basic bond of being alive in the Heights--Washington Heights. "North By Northwest," a music series in Washington Heights finds my life's journey travels here for two good aspiring musicians/ spoken word performers. Good acoustics surrounds an intimate, compelling and aspiring evening for a musical set round-robin performance. Service is somewhat attentive, yet efficient to flock my Mexican Hot Chocolate at $3.27. Traditional Irish concoctions of Shepherd's Pie, Bachelor's Irish beans with toast, Irish Sausage Rolls, Fish and Chips were enticing, yet my mind set were not desiring any food. Been here two times now because two different friends of mine recommended it for lunch and brunch. Both times were great. I really enjoy the artsy and interesting decor, and from the top floor you get a great view of the GW bridge! As for the food, I think the options are decent, mostly egg dishes and then the standard pancakes, French toast, etc. this past time I went with the eggs florentine, a Benedict that comes with spinach and potatoes on the side. Everything was flavored well and cooked pretty well. Would have liked to see a small side salad but it was still a filling entree. The really great reason to come here for a weekend brunch is the great drink deal! For only 2 extra dollars with your main meal you can get a mimosa! This is only applicable to the first drink though. I would definitely come back here to try some of their specials, which I assume rotate regularly. read more

They have a few vegetarian options which is appreciated. But the potato filling based deep fried patty hurt my tummy and didn't have any protein as best as I can tell. The lemon-olive oil salad dressing did not have tangy flavors but seemed to be 100% oil, though it was yellow in color. It is hard to eat salad with just oil.
