I've been drinking Le Cheval Blanc Blanche every time I visit Montreal. And, of course, I have to find the source of it. ;) Le Cheval Blanc bar is in a walking distance from Barri/UQAM station. Too bad they did not have witbier and saison framboise when we stopped by, and those were the two we expected to try. Anyway, we did a flight, and they were super cheap. Hanging out in front of the bar was pretty amazing to wind down. So Christian, this is your next stop when you come up to Montreal.

Double BonHeur, double IPA 8% ABV. Exquisite!!!

I can't tell you how long Le Cheval Blanc is been on my list but on this trip I finally made a stop and was so pleased I did. I ordered their Double Bonheur IPA, 8% ABV and was delighted with the quality and surprised by the creamy texture and head this IPA possessed. This was and outstanding IPA, Montreal has many great Micro Breweries and this one should be on your list when you visit the city. I am anxious to return and try some of there other beers and ales so stay tuned.

In Montreal, you will not find a 100 plus beers on tap. You will find, however, bars that make there own beer. Known as A Micro Brew. Unfortunately , I have no sense of taste and I drink the same " AMBRE "beer each time I go to Cheval Blanc .... come to think of i, I really can go for a FRANBOISE right now !!! Or a nice tasty CH'FAL DUBLIN Irish Red . Ok , I am off. See ya there!

La Cheval Blanc bar staff singing their hearts out New Year's Eve Dec 31 2019.

A must stop whenever I am in Montreal. Home brews with curious unusual flavors worth sipping to make the most of. Staff is attentive, even when super busy. Best New Year's Eve party on the planet 9pm to 1am with talented backing band and bar staff with good voices and passion with appreciative audience of countless loyal regulars. One of the original Montreal brewpubs, one of the best.

Simple beer with no fancy tricks that still great.

The bone marrow with snails was also good, but the combination was a little weird. I liked the bone marrow. I liked the snails. But served together took away from enjoying each part on its own. The duck was roasted to perfection. The skin was so crispy and the meat just fell off the bone. Same goes for the braised veal cheeks. There was no bone to fall off of, but the meat was so tender and just came apart as soon as I pressed down with my knife. I can't wait to come back to try the Salle à Manger since it's a different menu. Foie gras parfait 8/10 Bone marrow, Burgundy snails 8/10 Braised veal cheeks 9/10 Duck confit 9/10

While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn't quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it's possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher's cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.

Got to try some delicious food during my short weekend trip to Montreal Quebec…read more A friend organized a lunch for everyone before we all headed to the airport and funny enough this restaurant was in the hotel my friend and i stayed at. The restaurant was super quiet when we went as it was a Monday afternoon when most people were probably at work. The interior was quite elegant very clean and royalty looking. The service was 10/10. Waiter was very attentive and we could tell he paid attention to detail. He gave great food recommendations and definitely had knowledge of what's on the menu. Now as for how the food and prices were? Prices i'd say are pretty standard and reasonable. The squash soup was so yum and comforting. It had a puree texture to it. Good serving size. I would order it again! We obviously had to have some mimosas and yes we paired it with orange juice. The duck confit may have been a bit too much for me. Large portion and i couldn't even finish half of it. But it wasn't dry and the veggies had a nice crunch and the lentils were very filling and healthy. The flavour notes all went together but i'd definitely say the dish was more on the healthier side. The chicken supreme on the other hand .. although healthy it was still cheesy and buttery. Considering it was chicken breast it didn't even taste dry so i definitely appreciated that. The risotto paired with it was the star of the show! The restaurant takes resos online and they do have brunch on the weekends, happy hour menu looks promising. If i'm ever in town again and in the area i'd want to try their happy hour or chacuterie spread!

(Hotel restaurants, can be good/bad) We were definitely not dressed up which I was worried about but it wasn't an issue, we started with beef carpaccio and charcuterie, the pate was absolutely amazing as were all the cured meats. The beef carpaccio, was for me a little bland, I would have hit it with a touch of salt, but once you got a piece th at had balsamic drizzle it really opened it up and changed my mind. (I wish there was a little more of the balsamic. My husband had the Cornish hen, and I had the filet mignon, both were absolutely amazing, I even stole a little of his Bleu cheese for my steak. Steak was cooked perfectly, the sides were amazing. Our server was on point, his name was Pedro, I had asked him to send out a dessert privately and it was our 1 year anniversary, even though we were not dressed for the occasion as we were both exhausted from travel, We will probably be in for lunch tomorrow!

Every dish was excuted to the highest of quality, and the command of service is certainly no less. (Bluefin Tartare: A) - Fresh and light Asian-forward profile on a tuna tartare, with a stunning tapioca chip and a refreshing blend of cucumber and other accompaniments with the tuna. (Octopus: A) - The flavor of this dish is perfectly balanced with a seafood saline coming from the octopus, complemented by the sweetness of the peppers and the acidity of the olives. The octopus is impressively tender and could not be cooked nor seasoned better. The potato component was omitted due to dairy, but the dish is already perfect to me. (Squid Ink Spaghetti: A) - Perfectly cooked pasta being just on the verge of al dente, but still soft enough. The sauce is well made, not being runny and just coated enough to give the pasta and seafood flavor without overpowering. The breacrumbs add a different saline and textural component to the dish pleasantly, which builds on the lovely sweet and spicy tomato sauce.
