Duck confit
Sam W.

This is a great place. We were the typical tourist who went to the Montmantre on Christmas day to by souvenirs and landed here for Christmas dinner. We had Cocktials, Wine, Oysters, Escargot, Duck Confit, and desert. It's a little off the beaten path so while your eating your not getting harrassed by the local street artist who are wanting to sketch your face picture...The is a great little art village and touristy part of Paris...If your traveling through this is a great place to shop around.

A look out.

Salmon tartare is a hit. Nice people. Great French atmosphere. Come on in. Enjoy the nice eats and dining.

This was a distinctly okay time. The food wasn't badly priced, but it also wasn't exceptional quality. The restaurant is very much a tourist spot, so expect the atmosphere to reflect it - both in the style of service and the behaviors of the other customers. Not bad, but not great either.

I searched Yelp to specifically write a review of this place because it's the restaurant I always recommend to friends visiting Paris. I ate here in June of 2010, and so to write this review, I am breaking out my travel journal to give Yelp an accurate impression. Came upon this delightful restaurant while wandering the Sacre-Coeur. After meeting a charming French chocolatier in the area, my boyfriend and I were in the mood for food. The waiter could detect our American-ness and approached us with an English menu. We were convinced and chose a table outside. It was the type of summer night when no one eats inside. As more diners came, it seemed like everyone knew each other and pretty soon a group of 8 drunken French people we sitting next to us having a pretty good evening. The waiters would sit down and hangout with them every once in awhile. Isn't that exactly the type of experience you want to have in Paris? The food was incredible. I ordered roasted duck seasoned with rosemary. The sides included zucchini, mashed potatoes, and the BEST carrots I have ever had in my life. Seriously, who ever though carrots could be so delicious? They were marinated with the duck juices and a honey-sweet sauce/gravy and then cooked to perfection (not crunchy but not mushy). My boyfriend had a sirloin steak with pepper sauce, which had a perfect crispy exterior. He also agreed that the carrots were the best we've ever had. Also had wine with dinner. Service was great, especially because the waiter who had recruited us was so nice. Ambiance was nice, especially as the outdoor seats filled up and we were really mixed into the crowd of non-tourists. This place is worth visiting when you're in Paris. We got lost in time, enjoying a late, long dinner that we ended up missing the last metro train back to our hotel. But hey, that just made our night more of a Parisian adventure.

Best beef in all of Paris! We got the "Formula Meal", which is an appetizer, entree & dessert. My hubs had French onion soup, I had cheese ravioli,we both got the fantastic beef bourguignon, followed by two apple tarts. One of my favorite meals in Paris, and the only restaurant I reviewed fro the trip.

Omelette was okay. Everything else we had was average or below. Beer was good on a hot day. Service was average.

These smaller bistro type eateries are the lifeblood of the local cuisine. They consistently offer reasonably priced dishes that are full of flavor and technique. The wine and drink options are well catered to the menu and they provide options for most price points. The service we experienced was exactly what you want... our server had plenty of suggestions based on the offerings of the day. The service was attentive and responsive... not much more than you could ask for. I had the duck breast being offered... it was served alongside crispy potatoes, green beans, and a salad. Adding in the onion soup and a glass of wine... it quickly became a King's dinner at a very reasonable price. I would be more than happy to eat here again and look forward to exploring the rest of the menu offering many local and classic French options.

Like others have said, it's super small inside, so you'll get to know your neighbors really well. But your attention will be more focused on the food they bring out. I had the lamb with thyme sauce and my wife had the confit duck leg. Don't be afraid to pick the sauce of the day over the regular honey sauce. The sauce of the day on the day we went was a blackberry sauce which was crazy good. With a bottle of wine at 24 euros and both entrees under 20 euros, you couldn't really beat a meal of that quality in many places around Paris for that price. It was only after I ate at Le Potager did I see it had a bunch of great reviews on Yelp. It's definitely earned all those stars.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

It's a tiny restaurant, so if you're a party of two, you might share a table with others, but they have spacers so you don't feel like you're eating together. Reservations were easy to make. You email in your requested sitting and someone will get back to you shortly. We were able to get in a little ahead of schedule and start the adventure. Wines were reasonably priced and they had a good variety of cocktails. We hadn't had French onion soup on our trip, so we ordered it as an appetizer. Sometimes it can get a little salty, but these were very well blended. Sacree Fleur seems to be known for their steak and frites, so we ordered the steak for two. Steak comes out on a sizzling platter. You can turn the pieces over to keep cooking until your preferred temperature. It was quite succulent and the fries were well prepared. There are two dipping sauces and some salt to season your meal. We hadn't a great time and way too much food :)

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.

That's not acceptable. The food, however, was. Hence my difficulty in giving one rating. Our 3 dishes tried were indeed solid. Generous servings of seafood in the bouillabaisse, and I have no qualms whatsoever with my cuise de grenouille and foie gras salads. Bread kept us alive. The free Cote du Rhône glass was appreciated for check-in! Our server had his head permanently at a 30 degree angle, staring at his mobile. Tis a shame. But he was friendly ( oh, and easy on the eyes). I liked the quiet location out of the chaotic fray, like up the street, with all its smoking and volume. PS This is lover's type of location. Even the dark end of the small street feels illicit!
