The proprietor is quite friendly and relaxed--and speaks English fluently. The atmosphere is casual but visually interesting. I learned a lot from the wine map of Europe while we ate. Starting with the Panisse and Foie Gras, then on to the Gnocchi à la Daube (which we both had), the food did not disappoint. Had dinner here with bf on a recent return to Nice. I ordered foie gras for appetizer and the gnocchi for my main. My bf had the steak kidneys. The foie gras was amazing. It was a bit on the salty side but once i combined it with the pear, the taste changed remarkably. It added so much more flavor and depth. The main dishes took awhile to come out and when they did, my dish was lukewarm. My bf's kidneys were hot and looked like they were just taken out of the pan. Imagine a lukewarm stew or beef. It didn't taste good at all. I think I took 5 bites. My bf also didn't finish his food. The restaurant was busy but it's not an excuse for the food we got. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. I am not sure how they got such a high rating. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible. read more

Le Bistro Dalpozzo This place is so nice, what a great find! I just happened upon it because the original place I was going to was closed on Monday. I asked for a table without a reservation. They sat me right away around 7pm. They brought the outdoor chalkboard menu to me as it was in English on one side French on the other! They don't seem to have printed or E-menus & I assume change their menu frequently. I ordered a burrata salad & risotto. For drinks I ordered sparkling water & red wine. She brought over 3 bottles of reds for me to try & described them!!! I was very impressed. Chose the first one she poured Myriades which is a red wine made near St Tropez! The chef brought out my salad. It had peaches, apples arugula, greens & burrata with some light french dressing,so delicious! Also ordered a vegetarian risotto with zucchini cream, goat cheese cream & sour cherry. Cooked perfectly, Yummy! Tres Bon! The background music is wonderful. All remixes of soft music! One of the servers accidentally brought me some other patrons dish, lamb chops with cherry sauce over a vegetable-looked divine! After my main course I had a sampling of desserts with a ristretto. Cherry tart along with a small ramekin of custard topped with corn flakes, pomegranate seeds & peaches. tiramisu with a sidecar of chocolate sauce! Even though they were very busy as I was getting ready to leave, they did not rush me out! So nice!! The wait staff were so helpful, efficient & friendly. Avoid this place at all costs. Food was 0/10. Table next to us was served the identical dishes we ordered 15 minutes before ours even though we ordered approximately an hour before them. We decided to try this place as our last night out in Nice. It was kind of central to the downtown area, just west of the Hard Rock Cafe and close to the promenade. Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal. I recommend the leg of rabbit. Very tasty. The ambiance is great with the live jazz music, with indoor and outdoor seating. Very romantic if you don't have someone smoking next to you. Outdoor seating is quite tight. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is bc when we went on a Friday night, there was only 1 waitress for the whole restaurant. She was nice, but we felt she gave more attention to the older customers that night and we felt kind of neglected. One of the other young couples that sat next to us actually got up and left bc they weren't being served. Maybe it was an off night for them, but heads up nonetheless. read more

We were looking for a nice French cafe and found this charming place. The guy on the sidewalk was very pleasant and showed us the English menu when he saw us struggling with the French version. We were seated at a nice table for two on the sidewalk just outside the restaurant doors. Salads were great and our beef stew had nice flavor but had far too much gristle and fat. Dessert was also good, as was the musician that night. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant with Live music on a Thursday night. Delicious food, wonderful ambiance, good and friendly service. Thursdays and Fridays there's a live jazz singer and the other days of the week there's a jazz guitar player. Our waiter spoke good English and Spanish :-) I highly recommend it! read more

How can you go wrong, when such a wonderful restaurant is within a two-minute walk from your hotel? What a gem. We sat outside, where the smell of the honeysuckle added to the ambiance. I cannot say enough about my entree, which was the braised lamb shank. Definitely the best I've ever had. My husband enjoyed his ravioli with candied lemon. This place is exquisite. I'm talking about having an enjoyable, leisurely, classy, delicious dinner. I spent a week on holiday in Nice and my family came here twice for dinner within a week. Each time we came they presented us with a list of appetizers, main entree dishes, and desserts of the day on a chalk board. You would pick your choices, which were always different each day, and wait for your food over a nice glass of local wine. Did I mention that they have a live jazz singer playing every night?! Dinner and entertainment at its finest. The ambience in itself was very comfortable, clean, and elegant. The service was outstanding, and the food was exceptional! The restaurant our hotel suggested was closed so we looked online reviews. this bistro had good reviews and was relatively close to our hotel so we decided to try it. We decided to try it as it was our first night in Nice. When we arrived we got seated promptly. The only person serving was very busy. I mentioned the discount and he said that was for another day, but not to worry he would honor it. The ladies sitting next to us were enjoying their meals and we decided to try the escargot (amazing) the Lamb shank (best I have ever had, ever) and the scallops (fantastic). We finished by sharing a flaming creme brulee that was absolutely delicious. The only hiccup is that the escargot came a bit late - but - this was nothing compared to the flavor and it was a very nice touch for the restaurant to honor the discount (apparently the fork made the reservation for a day we won't be here). Anyway, I highly recommend this place for French food and will certainly come back next in Nice. Oh, I almost forgot the amazing jazz singer singing very quietly in the background! read more

We had an excellent meal here! I had the Prix Fixe (sp?) and it was fabulous! Had the prawns with guacamole and sea bass as a main. My husband had the zucchini blossoms with goat cheese and the steak! The portions were perfect and the flavours - amazing! Set against a backdrop of live jazz, dining alfresco, made it an incredible meal! One of the lesser expensive meals but great! Very good food and portion sizes at a reasonable price. We got the prix fixe for 17.50€ each. The bone marrow was interesting and tasty. My family got the beef stew, veal, and salmon.
