These guys have taken a different approach to beer than the old school Belgian beer bars - instead of overwhelming you with "8,000 different kinds of beer", they act as more of a curator, and present a smaller selection of beers from both Belgium and around the world - but there are plenty, at least 100+.
Also, they have beers from America (including Rogue from Oregon), and it was literally the first time I've had this conversation with a Belgian:
"There are great beers in America."
--"We know!"
Here's what we got (all amazing):
- Tilquin Geuze (draft), a really solid geuze lambic
- Tempeste du Desert (bottle), an Alsatian brewer that faithfully recreated a California Pale Ale
- Cuvee Mam'Zelle (bottle) - a blonde ale from West Flanders that was aged in wine barrels. My wife loved it, I found it a little too busy, but I still really appreciated how well-made and complex it is.
Also on a great corner in Schaerbeek right near Parc Josaphat (and spitting distance from our crib).
Service is knowledgeable and engaging. It's also a bottle shop so you can buy the beers for "take away". read more
