While many of the local bottle shops in the area are closed on Sundays, it was nice to see that the beer planet was open and ready to satisfy my craving for a wide variety of Belgian beers. This shop had nearly every Belgian beer one could ask for including a nice selection of lambic and other sour beers (e.g. brasserie cantillon & brouwerij 3 fonteinen). The staff was pleasant to work with and was helpful to identify some fun and interesting beers. They even wrap each beer in paper which helps with protecting them in checked luggage! read more

Just came back from Beer Planet and this place was the best out of the beer shops in the area. It definitely had the biggest selection and it was well organized. I came in here specifically looking for a matching glass and beer for a friend and Esteban, the man working here, was super helpful and found exactly what I was looking for. I'm not sure about the old reviews posted here 3 years ago, but sounds like it is under new management based on a more recent post. All I can say that I loved talking with Esteban and that he is the epitome of great customer service - helpful, friendly, and informative! In fact, I happily ended up buying a few new beers to try because of our conversation. Also good to note, they will also ship beer via courier. And while they don't have an Instagram account just yet, they do have a website. Definitely go there if you're looking for variety and good service! read more

We stopped in Beer Planet after having a few beers at the Delerium Taproom and were pleasantly surprised by the amount and price of beers this small shop carried. You want Trappist ales, they got em'. You want organic Belgium beers? Check! You want Lambics, trippels, dark ales, Sours, IPA's or almost any other wonderful variety of the beer rainbow that this great city offers, and you can find it here. There was a good selection of Cantillon and Hanssens lambics at reasonable prices. The staff was knowledgeable, English-fluent, friendly, and helped me find beer to best appreciate Belgium. It's a convenient walk from much of the touristy areas of Brussels. read more

I went on a beer tour and the guide only let us have Belgian beers that 99% of Americans haven't tried. Wow. Talk about pretentious. I LOVED it. You can find 50% of the beers on that tour in THIS spot. Fuckin awesome. The owner is not friendly, and doesn't try to advise the poor tourists who come here looking for a beer graal. Also, it is of course very expensive - you'll find half the beers at half the price at the closest supermarket (the big AD Delhaize, 5 mn away, is awesome for that). My husband and I came to Belgium for the beer and found this wonderful shop close to our hotel. The shop is under new ownership and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful! We found lots of beers we were looking for and plenty extra! The owner also was able to ship our beer back to the states for us! Can't recommend this shop enough! read more

Remember the scene in Indiana Jones where Indy is trying to guess the cup of Jesus in the room full of ornate chalices? He walks passed all of the gold and jeweled chalices and rightly picks the plain cup of a carpenter....that's how I felt looking for Westvleteren 12 (aka The Holy Grail of beer). It wasn't found with a bright colorful label, but instead in a simple crate with no beer label (only the top of the cap will identify it). Although Westvleteren 12 is based out of Belgium, it is still hard to find at bars or beer shops. I bought two bottles (€13 each) and guarded my score as I navigated through cobbled stone streets and drunks as if I were Indiana Jones (minus the whip and cool hat). read more

I stopped by Beer Planet unexpectedly while walking from the European Quarters back to Grand Place. Great selection of Belgian beers geared more towards beer aficionados instead of tourists, like that other big beer bottle shop in town, but unfortunately they still charge tourist prices for a majority of their beers. In terms of their selection (the ones that stood out anyway), they had a good selection of Fantôme, a sizable offering from Alvinne, almost all the De Dolle Brouwers', all the Dupont varieties minus the Cuvee Dry-hopping and some of the older Trappist vintages. Service was very receptive, and there's even a little bar area in the back where you can sample some of the beer that you purchased. I didn't look very closely as I didn't intend on staying too long, but I think they had one or two beers on tap as well. They also had an extensive collection of Belgian beer paraphernalia, and some spirits on hand as well. Three and a half stars bumped up to four. read more

We entered this place hoping to find decent belgian beers. The shop basically had all the best beers. But the shop owner turned out to be completely uninterested and rather rude and crude. Furthermore, they were selling the beer directly off the shelves in a store with a temperature around 28 C. I can't think of a better way of spoiling some of the more sensitive stuff. You can get all this stuff from more serious dealers around town. read more

They have many beers and you can be sure to find beer that you don't find in the normal supermarket, probably a bit overpriced. They also have some interesing hi quality beers from other countries than belgium that can be hard to find in other places. read more
