    Lovely little brewery with fantastically delicious beer. Super friendly folks, and good atmosphere all-round.

    This is like going to Lambic beer nirvana. It's the barrel house and tasting room for the 3…read moreFonteinen brewery which makes some of the best sour beers in the world. The only problem is that because they bottle everything and mostly in 750 ml bottles, you either have to come with a bunch of friends, make a bunch of friends, be willing to pour out a terrifying amount of fantastic beer or only try a few things. There's a free tour of the barrel aging rooms most days if you ask. The Sunday I was there they opened at 1p and did the first tour at 2p, but the English tour wound up at 2:30p, which was all fine with me. I sat there and drank the fresh (flat) lambic, which was yummy but not as good as I'm used from 3F. I then moved onto the bottles where they have both recent and vintage/rare bottles to try. I had a few small bottles and fresh lambics on tap to myself and then met two other Americans and we shared 3-4 rare/vintage 750 ml bottles between us, which were amazing. My favorite was the Schaerbeek cherry kriek that was 10 years old. If you're in Brussels and like sour beers at all, I highly recommend the 20-minute train ride out on the S2 to come here. Just note the train only runs once an hour and there's a 7-minute walk once you're done.
