A better brewery visit is hard to find…read more From initial french like confusion about payment for beer, visit and other stuff the tour starts off with a typical belgian guy pouring young lambic in a very unconventional way into our glasses. In broken french and broken english our guide tells us the history of geuze and the brewery while we taste our samples. Beer buffs ask advanced beer questions, non-sour beer lovers look terrified tasting the beer. Very promising... The tour continues, walking through the miniscule set up for brewing the belgian treasure Geuze, and the tour continues, and continues... Well, after a very long, cold and interesting tour, focussing on really interesting andecdotes, funny technical aspect of barrel making, mold, bacteria, yeast and the price of italian made storage tanks, we end up in the tasting room again. The belgian guide pours us beer after beer and we rejoice, stuffed with knowledge and sour beer. Since most of the other visitors have left we end up with the guide telling us even more stories . He also tells us that he actually don't work at the place, he is a volunteer that has devoted his life to the history of belgian beer, lambic and geuze, and is responsible for the part of the brewery that is a museum. Respect! Best spent EUR 9 ever.

4.5 Stars Gist…read more(which means yeast in Dutch) is a relative newcomer to the Brussels beer scene, having only opened in December 2017. It does come with bonafides, however, the owner having worked previously at Moeder Lambic. There are 18 constantly rotating draft beers, including at least one cask ale. These are pretty esoteric offering and it's unlikely you'll find many (if any) elsewhere. Not exclusively Belgian, recent offerings have included beers from micro-breweries in England, France, Sweden, and the U.S, (Jester King), plus la Vermontoise, a collaboration between Belgium's Brasserie de Blaugies and Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont.. They also have a fare selection of bottled beer and offer snacks such as cheese. The owner has two turntables inside and spins tunes when the mood strikes him. The sidewalk tables out front make for good alfresco drinking and eating..

A really awesome experience when you've just gotten off an overseas flight, let me tell you. He came over later and gave a half assed apology and luckily -- bc I have a shred of dignity-- I left, but goddam. It takes a true piece of shit to make a woman who doesn't know fluent Flemish/French language and whose directions may have gotten lost in translation feel like she just shat on Jesus' face.
