We walked by on a rainy Sunday around noon and decided to have a light bite and a drink. We had mimosas and 2 items. Lightly smoked halibut over mushrooms and spinach with a light razor clam sauce. Remarkably outstanding flavors. Also had guinea hen Benedict with hollandaise sauce, again simply outstanding. On the side were goose confit potato wedges. Delicious crispy outside with mash potato texture inside. And dessert... Multiple flavors and textures with the local blueberry cream

If Michelin came to the city of Quebec, this place would no doubt have a star! I came here with my family for a casual fine dining experience and we were all quite literally blown away by the creativity of the dishes and the excellent pairings of local ingredients. Make an extra stop on your trip and come enjoy a unique and delicious dinner. The style is small plates and the torched mackerel and tortellini ratatouille entrees were incredible! Try the local wine or the cider and do save room for dessert. The tomato tarte with celery sorbet certainly made the list of wildest foods we had ever eaten but it was a welcome journey of ripe, sweet tomatoes presented in an unexpectedly awesome flavor combination.

We had brunch there. Excellent food, beautifully presented, nice service, and atmosphere. Leisurely pace but worth the wait.

EXCELLENT CHARCUTERIE AND CHEESE!…read more We wanted to try something local and more traditional, and we came across Le Pied Bleu. Their website states they're specialized in cooked charcuterie, so we decided to try it out and it was a pleasant experience. The restaurant has a relaxing atmosphere with light music. They also have a few tables outside under the roof (ideal if you prefer "under the shade" patio seats). Both the charcuterie platter and the cheese platter are certainly the highlights. Our server was very kind to describe each cured meat and cheese in details. While we all have our own preferences, our group agreed these are of very high quality! We also ordered a few lunch plates to share - crepes, sausage & eggs, etc. They're freshly prepared and are served in a hot pan which kept the food nice and warm! I'd love to go back again when I'm in Québec City in the future - both dine-in and also get some cured meats as midnight snack :)

***** I love la salade Lyonnaise and when I put Pied Bleu on my list of places to eat; I had every intention of having a salade Lyonnaise and le plateau de charcuterie or Le Tour Lyonnais when I stopped for lunch. However, the proprietor?/my gracious server suggested that I start with a drink and the small plateau de charcuterie. I ordered an icy cider and my platter of delights arrived promptly with a basket of sliced baguette - unlike the USA, there was no bread rationing here - it looked like an entire baguette cut up and placed in the basket. Everything was fantastic - the pate, the cretons, the saucisson sec, saucisson de Lyon with pistachios, the ham/bacon and the house mustard (and he kindly shared the recipe) and the pickles were spectacular. I was as happy as I was full and I was stuffed! My server was smart as well as a nice man - and he indulged me with my French although he spoke English perfectly. Dining al fresco on the sidewalk, I was treated to a wide variety of music during lunch including the music of Jean Leloup, Mara Tremblay Jok1 Le Chef, so cool. Another perfect moment sitting in the city of Quebec. It does remind me in a lot of ways of Europe, of France and yet it has its own distinct vibe that really resonates with me.

Picture this: soft snow falling on the cobblestone streets of Petit-Champlain, fairy lights glowing, and the warm light spilling out of this beautiful little café. I ducked in both mornings of my short trip and could have happily stayed all day. The interior is perfect Québécois charm: exposed stone walls, wooden beams, cozy lighting, and that unbeatable smell of fresh baking. First morning I ordered the pistachio latte and the quiche Florentine. I would legitimately sell my firstborn for that pistachio latte: silky, perfectly balanced, with a rich, natural pistachio flavor that no syrup could ever match. One sip and I was ruined for life. The quiche was flawless: buttery, flaky crust, creamy spinach-and-cheese filling, baked to golden perfection. Absolute breakfast heaven. I braved a full-on snowglobe blizzard the next morning just to come back. This time I paired the same life-changing pistachio latte with the almond croissant. I'd hand over my other kid for daily access to these croissants (kidding... mostly). Impossibly crisp and flaky outside, cloud-soft inside, generously stuffed with fragrant almond paste, topped with toasted almonds and powdered sugar. I ate it slowly by the window while the snow piled up on Rue Notre-Dame and honestly felt like the luckiest person alive. The baristas were friendly, the vibe warm and unhurried, and everything was flawless. If you're in Quebec City, make La Maison Smith non-negotiable (and budget time to visit at least twice). Five stars isn't enough. This place is winter-morning perfection.

Where I come from, you are lucky to find chocolate dip and maybe butterscotch or strawberry. 20 flavors is an insane amount!! In the course of my visit to Quebec, we collectively tried: salted caramel, peanut butter, coffee, sugar cream/fudge, hazelnut and dolce de leche. My favs were the coffee and salted caramel. In addition to the dipped cones, they offer hot chocolate, dipped ice cream sandwiches, gelato, etc. I would be happy coming in for an epic euro-style hot chocolate in the winter months too. The service is great. Prices are expected for the area, close to $4 CAD for a small dipped cone. I think the prices are quite reasonable for how good it is. If you haven't been here yet, go now!! They are open till 11 most nights!

They also win on dessert choices - they do cakes, ice creams, truffles, waffles, all kinds of stuff your sugar-loving heart can desire. Their chocolates aren't quite as good in quality or taste as Chocolats Favoris but I will most definitely will continue coming for the ice cream. They are also quite generous with their portions!
