To go café, perfect meet up location + nice bean + perfect local coffee vibe + pastries are just fantastic
Really delightful sidewalk cafe in Old Quebec. This was our go-to spot during our short stay. It was conveniently nearby our AirBnB. You'll find a great array of pastries ( the croissants are HUGE ), quiche and some baguettes. Your usual selection of coffee and tea. I lean towards an Americano and it was really consistently quite good. I enjoyed the Chausson aux pommes, nicely warmed up. We sat both on the cozy sidewalk tables and inside. Both are desirable. Inside, there is plenty of seating: a counter along the window facing the sidewalk, a lower seating area as well as a small alcove above in the rear; you're sure to find your ideal spot. Staff is very friendly and helpful and service is pretty quick and efficient. Overall, great ambiance for your morning fix. If you find yourself in Vieux Quebec ( and you SHOULD ) do yourself a favor and stop by La Maison Smith. You won't regret it.
This bakery is amazing. They sell quality pastries, coffee, and panini's - if you're hungry, try their pita with avocado and chicken, you won't regret it. Also try their Canadiano coffee with whatever sweet pastry you like - so good. I came here twice through my stay in Quebec and I will miss this place. 10/10 would recommend.
Gorgeous coffee shop on a magical street! Very instagrammable inside! There's plenty of seating, especially upstairs. You'll need to take a breather after walking the step hilly streets of Québec City! Maybe suggest the chocolat chaud- it's a divine hot chocolate topped with fresh vanilla whip cream. Oooh la la! They all spoke English here though QC is know for leaning more towards French with a side of English.
It's a neat coffee shop in a great location. However, like a lot of service businesses in busy locations, they don't need to focus on customer service. And so, they don't. Decor is interesting, especially at the back where you realize you are eating beside a rock wall, a bit of a theme in the old city. The carrot cake was mediocre. My latte was very strong and burnt tasting, though it looked beautiful. Hubs coffee was described as good. Customer service was 'fine' as in it met the minimum mark. It's a 3, A-OK. I'll keep looking for the perfect coffee joint in this city. I want to like my experience a lot more than I do. So much potential.
The cafe was in a fantastic location in Place Royale. Would have loved to sit outside people-watching. Unfortunately, nothing available. There was limited seating inside so we were able to grab a table. The ordering process involved picking things off the rack to be prepared in their ovens (or microwaves). My wife picked out a vegetable quiche and I ordered a croque monsieur. They were both quite good. We were only in QC for 3 days so didn't return, but we both agreed that we made a mistake by not coming back.

Nice breakfast spot in Quebec. I ordered a vanilla iced coffee and a pecan muffin. There were a bunch of pastry items to choose from in the display window. I was happy with my choice. To be honest, I think I would've been happy with ordering anything in that display case. There are large windows along the walls in the seating area. Pretty place to grab a bite to eat and people-watch!
Keep in mind I am a tourist from California. But to me the food was delicious! And the staff was wonderful! They all spoke English and were very kind when I struggled through trying to order. I would recommend everyone come get a drink and a snack here while shopping.

La Maison Smith, as much as I hate to say it, feels and tastes like your typical coffee chain cafe. Why? Well, when I first visited one of their locations I thought to myself "wow! this place is incredibly unique compared to other cafes I've been." However, as you journey through the streets of Old Quebec, you'll soon find that each cafe is the same and offers the same (not that good...) coffee. At this point, I'd just hit up Mcdicks.
Great selection of coffees and pastries, tried the chocolate croissant, chocolate truffle cake and macarons which they have so many flavors to choose from. I tried the pistachio and crème brûlée, both were good. They are open for dine. Love d the sweets and drinks. Happy tummy!

La Maison Smith, a cozy Escape in Old Québec Stopped in for a little downtime (and a break from the freezing Québec winds), and La Maison Smith delivered exactly what I needed. Perfectly tucked into Old Québec, it's the kind of café you wander into once and immediately want to claim as "your spot." The menu has everything--coffee, tea, and even alcoholic drinks if you're feeling extra cozy. I went with a London Fog and a Maple Latte, both served in giant, soul‑warming mugs. Absolute comfort in liquid form. The space is bright and roomy with high tops, small tables, and counter seating overlooking the street--ideal for people‑watching or thawing out while pretending you're in a postcard. A lovely little refuge in the heart of the city. read more

We went for breakfast.good variety. Latte was perfect and the croissant was so good . we got both plain and the chocolate croissant and they were both so good that interior design was very good and the ambience was great. We will definitely visit it again the next time we are in Quebec city. read more

Keep in mind I am a tourist from California. But to me the food was delicious! And the staff was wonderful! They all spoke English and were very kind when I struggled through trying to order. I would recommend everyone come get a drink and a snack here while shopping. read more

This cafe is very very good. Maybe this is a new location so there aren't many reviews? It's in the middle of old town, mostly a tourist district, fair amount of traffic though tourist season hasn't fully bloomed when I was there end of May. This cafe was recommended to me by the reception at our hotel. Being a local they would be able to recommend their favourite, though they gave me a few choices this was their top. I didn't get to try the other recommendations but to me this cafe is ideal. Ideal because their food and desserts are fresh, reasonably priced, well prepared and generally very good quality. It's actually better than the large patisserie that has 500 reviews up this street. Unfortunately I already went there- see my review for Paillard. Here's a list of all the items ordered at Smith: Smith croissant sandwich smoked salmon bagel macaroons 12 flavours- exotic is passionfruit- my fav almond croissant apple tart- they have 3 other tarts though Provencal chicken baguette bottled kombucha- cedar, strawberry (not Smith made but they sell it- and cedar actually smells like cedar- taste-wise from this brand is rather mild; not too sour nor sweet) Service is very good as well, never rushed, made the effort to use English for explanations. Everything above were top notch lunch or snacks. Nothing was too sweet, not sweet enough dito for salt. Maybe the macroons aren't Smith made but definitely well sourced. For the record the smoked salmon bagel was the best I've ever had. Their pastries are better quality than Paillard. Some pictures attached may depict toasted sandwiches as flatter than when ordered because they were heated. The baguette was purposely flattened while the croissant was carefully heated maintaining shape- now that's skill from a cafe we wouldn't get in Vancouver. Instead of eating at fancy restaurants next time I'll just come here. I'm more satisfied eating here than some high end fancy restaurants that I had tried, including Champlain Restaurant at Fairmont... obviously this is not sit down service but food quality-wise is a no brainer. Compared to the Notre-Dame location, I wasn't a fan of this La Maison Smith. My iced matcha latte was watered down and tasted like straight milk. Definitely wasn't a fan of this drink here. Service was standard in terms of ordering. However, when I asked another worker where the restroom was and if a key was needed, she gave me attitude. Not necessary! If you are in the mood for a matcha latte, I suggested heading to their Norte-Dame location instead. read more

Efficient, Tasty, Friendly What a great little cafe for a pick-me-up in the heart of QC! We frequented this place on our recent trip to Quebec City when we wanted a little something to hold us over to dinner-- the vegetable quiche was lovely and the "Bagel Dejuner" was surprisingly good. However, my only gripe with the latter is it was cool in the middle, even though we ordered it hot. It was really busy at the time, though, so I'm sure that had to do with it. No matter, though, because we will gladly be coming back the next time we are in this beautiful city! read more

Needed a quick breakfast, breakfast bagel was really really good and would definitely go back to get it again! I wouldn't recommend the vegan galette, it was firm and gummy, but it will still be a good snack for my travel day. Everything else looked great as well. read more

We're big coffee drinkers and love to find great local coffee shops and Cafe La Madison Smith is the spot in Quebec! As a matter of fact, they have multiple locations so visit the one nearest to you. We headed here for coffee and found out that this is a pedestrian only street with shops and restaurants. Very nice! We each ordered a large cappuccino which was delicious and huge! It comes in a bowl! The barista made them beautiful as well. Once we saw the treats they offered, we had to try one. We selected to share their bread pudding with maple syrup to add on top. It was incredible! We sat in the window eating our treat, drinking coffee and people watching. The staff was also fabulous! Thank you Cafe La Maison Smith! read more

We stopped in here yesterday to grab a quick warm drink and escape the rain before dinner. We got a cafe late, a london fog, and a chocolate croissant. It was great, while the late was good the shining star was the london fog. It was an earl grey tea made with steamed milk. It was the shining star of the trip. The tea infusion menu wasntbup on the wall, it was tucked in front of the cashier and was quite extensive. Hoping to stop back in for another variety today. Lots of little high seating areas with little 2 top tables. Definitely not for big groups to sit down in. Free wifi and a great window view for people watching. Couldn't recommend enough. read more

My hubby and I stopped in for something cold to drink on a very hot and humid day after a long walk. We got a huge macha (green tea) cookie, unsweetened iced tea and italian sparkling mineral water. We were so glad to have found this place. As you enter the cafe, the fragrant smell of coffe and the modern/clean decor truly appeal to your senses. We greatly enjoyed sitting at the high table against the window. What a fun place to watch people walk by outside the cafe and savor the freshly brewed tea and yummy green tea cookie. The tea and cookie were amazing by the way. The green tea cookie was perfect as it was not too sweet and the texture was heavenly. I would like to mention that the wait staff members were very attentive and friendly. I would definitely return to this cafe in the future. read more
