Came for lunch and had a very disappointing meal. I ordered the General Tsao chicken which I normally order when having Chinese and my girlfriend had the crispy chicken chili sauce lunch. The food was mediocre at best. The food had no taste to it. I asked for pork fried rice without eggs because I am allergic and the waiter said no. So I went for dinner here a few months back ( I've been a regular for years) and the food seems "off". I kind of shrugged It off because I mean who doesn't have a bad day--right? Well I went again this past Sunday and the service was terrible. There were only two people serving and the place was packed. I literally drank my husband drink before I had to get up and ask the lady at the front to bring me some water. The "twin lobsters" were so small and horrible chopped up. I almost broke a tooth on the shells that's were left all over the place (in between the scallions). It was just an overall mess. They also own "Lilac House" further into Fairfield and the service was night. Wow went here for lunch, I've been searching for Singapore Mei Fun as good as this great place in Wilton which is now closed. Singapore noodles 10 out of 10!! I was with co-workers and the wait staff knew one of our party. They joked and we met the owner who is a total ham. It's curious why the ratings are low. Every time I've been here the food is been delicious the service is been excellent and the price is very reasonable. Dear LC Chen restaurant, We came to your restaurant on Saturday and ordered take-out. We enjoyed the food until we found a black bug in our Chicken Broccoli dish. I see we are not the first bug finders!!!!! We had to discard most of our Brocc Chicken dish and we promise you nothing will make us return to your place. My son lives in Fairfield, so I definitely will spread the word. My first thought was to return the bug to you, but then I wasn't really in the mood for ice cream. Pun intended. As stated before, we begrudgingly ordered from L.C. Chens on a pretty reguar basis. That will now stop. I called this evening to place a delivery order, just as I have done about 100 times before. The person who answered the phone was incomprehensible - not due to an accent, but his inability to speak into the phone - and rude. After I told him I wanted to place an order, and after asking him to speak up, he abruptly yelled "NUMBER". I gave him my phone number, and he repeated my address. Despite the fact that I ordered delivery from L.C. Chen's just two days ago, I was quickly informed that I lived too far away for the restaurant. When I told the employee that I just had food delivered two days ago, he demurred. When I repeated that I had been ordering from L.C. Chen's for years, he acted like he was doing me a favor, and said (with a sigh) that it was now o.k. After this nonsense, I asked him if he was SURE he wanted my business, and the employee answered, "It's up to you." Wrong answer. Came here for dinner and had the salmon dinner it was delicious - 3 pieces sashimi, 3 sushi and a salmon avocado roll topped with spicy salmon. I would highly recommend. Everything tastes very fresh. We started with the king crab pizza I would highly recommend! This is my go-to sushi place in town. The staff is alway friendly and accommodating! The service was also very prompt. The food here is decent and you really can't beat the $6.95 lunch special. My main complaint is the food always comes out luke warm - it really should be hotter. The sushi tastes fresh but it's not outstanding. The service is pretty good but inconsistent - today we had a very slow server who wasn't particularly attentive and other times we've had very fast and attentive servers. Last time we had to completely throw away the lo mein as the pork smelled to be weeks old. A little of the main road but well worth the trip. The restaurant has a very cool atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, strong drinks, and good prices. Me and my husband love LC Chen's food.. We are addicted to many of their dishes. We love their hot and sour soup, Wonton soup, Basil Tofu, General Tsai's Chicken, Steamed chicken/Vege with hot garlic sauce, and Chilean Sea Bass. We also often order Coastal Fire roll or Flying Dragon roll dishes as an appetizer after the soup. Their Sichuan Ravioli appetizers are also delicious. One of the most significant aspects of this casual, comfortable restaurant is the healthy side of the fare. At almost every Chinese restaurant I have been to, or taken out from, the food is ultimately greasy and oily. It also frequently has been salty as well. At Chen's, the food is lighter and not greasy or oily. They do not use msg at all in anything. The owner and staff there are very friendly and attentive, they The are very knowledgeable and can offer expert advice to recommend something for you or modify a dish to satisfy your tastes or if there are dietary requirements. The food here was very good and tasted fresh. Atmosphere was nice as well, though the entrance seemed a little crowded and the bar area was not much of a bar. I gave 3 stars because of the service, not the food. I feel that if the restaurant hired 2 or 3 bus boys the service would improve dramatically. We had to wait 10 minutes after we closed our menus to order and we were constantly asking for more water/refills. A bus boy or two or three would alleviate the waitstaff a lot and create a better experience for the customer. read more

Both of us agreed that the dish tasted nothing like it should, it was savory with no hint of brown sugar or tamarind paste or lime juice. Just awful-we threw both meals in the garbage. I think the day we visited, I think the whole waitstaff was having a bad day. They all looked annoyed, and we did NOT feel welcome there. But we were hungry and tired of driving, so we stayed for dinner. There weren't many people there at all, which was another bad sign. Hello readers! I went here with a family party of 6. We had multiple appetizers and 6 main courses. 4 of us did the twin lobster special. The lobsters are small and you should load up on appetizers. Second time trying this place was a few days ago when I had ordered take out for a group gathering, about $100 worth of food. I figured I'd give them a shot, but again the food was not that great. Thought it was time to write an update on L.C. Chen's. We have been visiting continually for the past few years since my first review and we always have a good experience. The staff is friendly and we've gotten to know the waitresses better over time. I love that they carry my favorite brand of bottled iced green tea and their lunch specials are reasonable. They have a variety of lunch specials with large portions and quality food that hits the spot. The maki roll special is one of my favorite and we usually order two or three rolls as an appetizer. I've also enjoyed their dumplings and shrimp shumai which is very tasty. L.C. Chen's has some of the best tasting chicken dishes I've ever had at any chinese restaurant. Their chicken and string beans is super yummy, as well as my other favorite the Walnut chicken and shrimp. The chicken is quality white meat and good cuts.
