    11 Fresh Mushrooms 3 Steak 7 Spicy Chicken 12 Spinach & Cheese

Super tasty empanadas within the edgewater public market! In my limited experience, these seemed on the smaller side, so I ended up ordering 4 and it was the perfect amount to feel satisfied. I went on a busy Sunday afternoon & the workers were friendly and had my order up within 10 minutes. Unfortunately they were out of two of the empanada options by this time, a drink option, as well as the avocado sauce I really wanted to try! I ended up ordering the steak, spicy chicken, spinach & cheese, and the mushroom. I would get them all again! They were very hot on the inside so I ripped them all open a bit too cool. Sometimes chicken empanadas can be dry, but this one was great. The mushroom one was the messiest because there was a lot of moisture/water within the pastry. The chimmichurri (spelling?) sauce was delicious and I wish they gave me more! Maybe 1 sauce per 2 empanadas???

First time to Edgewater Public Market and Lazo caught our eyes as we made our round. It was a rainy late afternoon, so it wasn't as busy which we liked. The exposed ceiling and open concept is always nice ambiance, but sometimes it can get quite noisy, but it was a perfect day. Minimal noise and plenty of seats. Great service from the host, she was packing some empanadas while we waited for her. My boyfriend and I both got a combo. I had two empanadas - Spicy Steak and Chorizo with chimichurri sauce, and a Pellegrino, while he had Steak Quesadilla, ham & cheese, and ground beef with avo sauce and soda. Spicy steak - wasn't my favorite. I didn't taste the spiciness and it was quite liquidy. The chimichurri sauce did not go well with it. The sauce tasted more like Italian herb in oil rather than parsley & cilantro. Chorizo - loved it! I didn't taste the chorizo, but the melting cheddar did it. I definitely did not put the sauce on it lol Ground beef - it was decent per the boyfriend Steak Quesadilla - wasn't a big fan of it. It was very watery and didn't taste like a quesadilla Ham & Cheese - this was his favorite. Can't go wrong with ham & cheese anything! I think at this point, anything with cheese is good. I personally can't say too much about the steak quesadilla, but all in perspective. Would come back for the Chorizo empanadas though.

Everything about the Edgewater Public Market rocks, and Lazo Empanadas is no exception. I love the setting, and the entire venue is all minority-owned businesses. Kind, quick service combined with a variety of empanadas choices in a well-laid out menu makes for a positive experience. I enjoyed their Spicy Ground Beef (#2 on the menu) and Chicken Caprese (#8) along with the green avocado medium spicy homemade sauce!

I tried the spinach, mushroom, and cheese and a chorizo, egg , and cheese with a side of chimichurri for dipping. Both were very tasty, especially the pastry. I got a little tired of all of the cheese, but that was probably because I ate a few bites of my sons macaroni and cheese while I was waiting on my empanadas. I'd definitely go back though- yum!

Lazos is one of my go to spots for empanadas especially if I want something that's not corn based shell. It's pretty pricey for the size of the empanada but it's worth it in my book. The beef and spicy versions are very flavorful and goes well with the sauce they have. It's the right amount of saltiness and slight sweetness. The empanada shell is very flaky and boy it's temperature hot when it's ready! The staff is always amazing, and the Edgewater location never fails us. It's the perfect snack after our softball games at Citizens Park!

Can't go wrong with a light dinner! This place is quick when it's right before dinner rush. Very friendly staff and there is a menu with each ingredient listed for every item on the menu.

Really good empanadas! The dough is very light, fluffy and flakey on the outside. I found Maria empanada to have dry dough and it's not as fluffy as this place. The dough here is almost like pastry dough which I prefer. It's perfect to allow the steak quesadilla filling to shine. The chimichurri sauce was a nice compliment as well! A bit on the pricey end at $4.25 an empanada but they do a great job here! Not pictured was the fresh mushroom which was very good! The spinach cheese was good. If you're in the area, definitely come by!

I will start this review by saying I am not an empanada fan. I have always found the dough to be super heavy/thick, and the filling so heavy - that I have never enjoyed eating them. Lazo may have converted me...or maybe I have just experienced poor empanadas (or both)... I had the chicken caprese empanada and it was flavorful, oozing with cheese, and the dough was very light and tasty. The person behind the counter was very helpful and made the recommendation for the chicken caprese. I am excited to come back and try more empanadas...and also really love this location at Edgewater market!

I'm giving Lazo 4/5 stars for taste and 3/5 for price. Each empanada was around $4-5 but was slightly bigger than a dumpling IMO. However, these empanadas came out piping hot and were extremely flavorful. The pastry was crispy on the outside and chewy but flaky to the point I could peel back the layers! I chose the spicy ground beef, spicy steak, and egg & chorizo. I was a fan of all three, and the spicy ones definitely had a kick! The Edgewater Public Market is enforcing COVID guidelines including wearing a mask and social distancing. With plenty of patio space, your best bet is to bundle up and eat outside or take your food to-go.

Came here on a whim out of supreme hunger, and I am glad at how convenient and tasty this experience was! The staff was very sweet and kind at explaining the flavors. I ended up trying the spinach and cheese, steak quesadilla, and chicken caprese flavors. Each of them was so tasty and the sauces made it even more flavorful! Would definitely come back to try the other flavors next time.

The friendly barista greeted us right away, and we were able to order our coffee drinks without any wait. While waiting, we took a moment to admire the pastry case and decided to share a beautiful pineapple Danish that looked too good to pass up. We settled into a cozy table by the window (the only small downside being the lack of outlets for working), and before we knew it, our drinks were ready. The coffees were served in the most charming handmade crockery cups, complete with lovely latte art. And I have to say--the latte itself was just as delightful as it looked: smooth, balanced, and perfectly crafted. The atmosphere immediately draws you in with its eco-conscious, Scandinavian hygge-inspired aesthetic. Think warm wood tones, soft natural light streaming through the windows, and thoughtfully curated, cozy decor that invites you to linger. It feels intentional and welcoming without being overdone. I also couldn't help but notice how dog-friendly the café is--from adorable bread-shaped dog toys available for purchase to water bowls set out for thirsty pups. It's clear they've considered every guest, furry ones included. One of my favorite features is the large garage-style front door that can open fully on warm days, seamlessly blending the indoor space with the front patio and making the café feel even more spacious and airy. For an intimate neighborhood café, there's a generous number of tables and seating options, along with a sizable menu offering plenty of food and beverage choices. I can easily imagine Hearth becoming a go-to spot for locals--whether for a quiet morning coffee, a casual meeting, or a slow start to the day. It's warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. The food is particularly good, especially for a place that I find is more coffee focused than cafe focused. I only have one comment, which is really a comment for many Denver restaurants beyond this one coffee shop. That is this: sandwiches should be cut in half when they're finished being constructed. A sandwich isn't really "finished" until it's cut in half. We should think of that final, decisive slice through the sandwich as a kind of signature at the bottom of a painting or a poem. This is complete. It is ready to be eaten. If a sandwich is too unwieldy to be cut in half easily, then some thought should be given either to the construction and ingredients or to technique. A sandwich may need to be wrapped in parchment, then sliced, or a different knife may need to be used. Whatever needs to happen to slice that thing in half should be considered. I say this is a comment for all of Denver, because you really don't find this problem back east. It's like in coming west people forget about this final, essential step in making a sandwich. Anyway the spicy father is a great breakfast. But it would paradoxically be made truly whole were it to be served in two halves.
