There are like 10 hookah spots within a 5 block radius of this place, but Laze is the best value for money with its $14 hookah. And the Moroccan tea is the BEST. They've recently remodeled. Came here a few weeks ago with my friend for the first time. I had a Groupon deal for 1 hookah flavor, 1 appetizer and 2 sodas for $17. Felt out of place for the most part but the waiters were welcoming and friendly. Over time, it became quite crowded as more and more people came in. Hummus was really good but we had to keep ordering more pita bread. Hookah was the strongest I have ever had and the groupon made the price super affordable. We ended up being there for practically 3 hours actively smoking and we still hadn't fully finished it. The music was loud and there were two televisions playing music videos. They've changed the guy who makes the hookah and changed the servers to clueless and inexperienced people. The hookah flavor burns within minutes and the hookah isn't made properly like it used to be, and they get upset when you inform them of this?! Especially the tall guy with the braces. This is an okay hookah bar. I wish the service was better. There was only one waitress who also worked the front but she was chatting with people. She gave us the menu and forgot about us and never got us a coal until later when we asked the guy to get it for us. The utter audacity of this place. I've never had such absolute trash and RACIST service in the entirety of my life. I walked in here today to have some hookah. I was rudely informed by the receptionist that they had a 25 person capacity and we were the last people to be let in. We told her that we had one more person coming and she said that was fine because two people left. Shortly after we witnessed the receptionist let two white people in as they denied our friend entry. When trying to explain the situation calmly, the waiter grabbed hookahs directly out of her hands while yelling at us to follow the rules. Mind you, the waiters were NOT WEARING MASKS while telling US to follow the rules. After asking them why we were being treated like this, they proceeded to talk about us among each other in Arabic, be rude and condescending and then tell us that they were "miscounting." So, we didn't come here to smoke hookah. My colleague is from Turkey and recently took up smoking again, so after a particularly stressful work day, we were looking for a place where we can hang outdoors, have coffee, and where she can smoke her clove cigarettes without being bothered. So first, I set the GPS for Jenin Pastry next door, but it was indoors-only. The employee at Jenin said we can order some items and sit outside at Laze, no problem. There's not much parking, but there's outdoor seating, the employees are hospitable, and the ambiance is very low-key. I ordered a few items--stuffed grape leaves and milk tea, and she ordered tea for herself and kanafeh for both of us. Everything was delicious, though it was my first time trying kanafeh. It's a sweet pastry with melted cheese and drizzled honey. As I haven't had sweets in a while, I couldn't finish it. My colleague couldn't believe that there weren't any cafes open past 5 pm like back home, but we were able to find one! The price was reasonable, too. We will definitely come again. read more
