BEWARE! This place will charge you for anything extra. Yesterday was "The straw that broke the camels back" . They charged me $.75 for order of limes (which was 4 thin slices, to go with my refills of tea) this is about the 4th time they've done this. Enough is enough! There are plenty other Mexican restaurants. I've been a consistent customer for at least 5 yrs. This owner must be very greedy! I'm not sure if I will ever come back. Unless I talk to this owners. I ordered two lunches by phone for pick-up. Before I called I checked their menu online which apparently hasn't been updated in a long time because they no longer were serving what I wanted. Since I was ordering one lunch for someone else, I had to make a second call back to order what they have available. By the time I came to picked up the order, the food was not yet ready. No problem it was going to be a short wait. They eventually charged me over $40 for two lunches - at this time I was just ready to get back to the office. It was a "S" load of food but not really what I ordered. Ugh. The restaurant itself is okay, not at all fancy but, suitable for kids. Their place is clean and the portions are plentiful. It was about to be my first time eating at this restaurant we walked in some lady greeted us and said to sit down. We sat down and no one came to our table we waiting for 15 minutes. It was not packed there were only two tables with people seated. No one served us, brought drinks. I heard about their tacos from a friend at drivers school. I had to try them! They have a taco with a cheese enchilada , rice and beans inside! Ordered that. I also judge a place by their picadillo tacos. I ordered one of those too. BOTH tacos were AMAZING! The service is outstanding and the prices were great. five out of 5 tacos! read more

We found this place as our next stop to eat at lunch was in San Antonio and was a tex-mex hole in the wall. You get chips and salsa. It was very bland and needed a kick. I did not order to much as we were going to have an early dinner. My wife order the beef soup and pork chop taco. The taco just contains meat only and that is it. You need to order the specialty taco. I can not recall which tacos I ordered, but it had pork chop beans and avocado. There was one with a carne asada. It was not too bad. Pretty comfortable seating on the inside, fans working at all times to keep you nice and cool if it's hot outside. The food is okay here, it took approximately 20-30 mins to get our food after we ordered. I got to say though due to selection and the difference in tacos they have here I will be coming back just to try them out. I absolutely loved the kids selection here, better than most places and straight to the point. No confusion on what you're gonna get, the menus due an absolutely great job on telling you what your food is gonna come with to make your decision easier and not have to ask the employee to many questions. read more

The senior delegate we were accompanying wanted "an authentic Tex-Mex experience," which our driver interpreted as "the sketchiest looking restaurant in San Antonio." We found it. There were absolutely no Yelp reviews about the place. Sometimes, you gotta have a little faith. And once past the outside, we marveled at the darkened cave-like inside, with a ceiling festooned with party favors. I'm pretty sure Lazarita's was a former Pizza Hut, but it's now about pleasant staff, a diverse group of obvious regulars, and some cheap & good Tex-Mex. And I'll bet breakfast here at 5:30am is worth it, because there sure were a lot of people doing the usual lunchtime fare before the 3pm close. The $7.25 chicken fajita plate was a tad dry for me, but the rice & refried beans were decent, the guac was better, and the warm & crispy flour tortillas were darn near great. The salsas will bite, and the iced tea comes as sweet, half-sweet, or unsweetened, like a proper Boba place. That was different. And when we left, the consensus was Lazarita's was a lot better than it looked. We weren't sure if it was someone's name. It does translate nicely to A-OK. read more

In April 2016, my hubby and I went to San Antonio for a nice birthday / 10th anniversary trip. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that the annual Fiesta celebration was going on, which added a fun new adventure to our trip! We were on our way to find the famous Fanick's Garden Center then Rainbow Nursery (on Bandera Road) to buy some interesting plants (anniversary gifts for me) before heading back to Houston. Since our hotel's in house breakfast was not up to expectations, we tried a nice little Mexican restaurant on 166 South W. W. White Road in San Antonio called Lazarita's. The building is a bit dated but they were reasonably priced, friendly, and very good! I had two breakfast tacos with a side of mild but tasty salsa. My hubby had huevos rancheros (eggs over easy with salsa, bacon, potatoes, with a side of tortillas) and said it was one of the tastiest meals he has had. Also, their restroom was clean, which often reflects the state of the kitchen. If you happen to be on that side of San Antonio during breakfast time, check them out! read more

Cheese enchiladas were mediocre. My girlfriend got the enchiladas verde and she couldn't finish them due to everything being soggy. We're from Galveston so we wanted to try a new restaurant and this didn't really please us. Their sweet tea is really good and the salsa is pretty good. The pricing was reasonable and the customer service was good. Their only downfall was the main food. Rice was surprisingly good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go again but if I happen to land in there somehow I wouldn't be mad. Tortillas were definitely homemade and fresh. This seems like a local place and they only specialize on one dish so I give them the benefit of the doubt. read more

Potential health code violations & COVID-19 violations I called in an order for pick up through the drive through and a bag was given to me through the drive through. The order was incorrect so I brought the food inside the dining room area. They took the bag to the back and placed it where food was being prepared. I informed them that it was a health code violation since this bag had been inside my vehicle and now it is inside the kitchen as they are servicing and preparing food. I went to the car to get my phone to take pictures because I also saw an employee without a mask eating and walking in the kitchen area. I requested a refund because I did not feel they were taking basic safety precautions for health code and COVID-19 concerns serious. They tried to move the bag back to the front but there was still someone without a mask eating in every photo in the background. This is unacceptable and a potential health code violation. The city police were called and they where issued a warning for the COVID-19 violation and the health department will be following up. I did not receive my refund and they offered to refund half the order $65 but THEY WANTED TO KEEP ALL THE FOOD. Sounds like it would have been resold or reused on another plate. Beware. read more

They have my favorite tortillas, tortilla soup and asada tacos! The inside is a bit shabby but good food.

The chip baskets were dirty, I could scrape off the residue with my nails. My drink had a film of grease over the top, I sent it back. The food was ok but not worth sitting in a dark, dirty restaurant. We didn't finish our meal. Our waitress was nice but the lady that was working the register seemed bothered that we needed to pay. Been coming here for years... Stopped for awhile after they changed owners. Been coming back now for a couple of years and today was the last straw. There was a roach on our table. If we didn't have another friend coming we would have left just then. We pointed it out to the waitress and she said "Be sure to comment on this" So here it is... I hope they get a REAL exterminator because baby roaches are a sign of a BIG problem. read more
