Have been to Benny's so many times since moving to Windcrest area. Love the food, especially the potato & egg taco and bean & egg taco on corn tortillas. I believe these are the best tacos and best homemade corn tortillas in town. Recently took my niece and nephew for breakfast and they loved their barbacoa tacos with salsa verde. Service via drive through or while dining in is fast and courteous. Interior is nothing fancy, but it is clean. My only complaint is that we were charged extra for cilantro and onion even though we didn't order it with our tacos. The meat is tender and the onions are nice and soft but still crunchy. The flavor is really good, not too salty, but lots of flavor. The salsa has a nice flavor and not too spicy. I like spicy foods, but with tacos I like medium heat. Went at about 12, I know that's not "breakfast." Service was fast and friendly. This place is nothing fancy (the restaurant is a repurposed old Wendy's building) but it's just plain, good food with friendly and quick service. Usually I just go through the drive through, but I had time today to dine in. I've tried the Barbacoa, bacon and egg taco, picadillo, carne guisada, chorizo and egg, sweet tea, and horchata. There wasn't a single thing that was not delicious. The Barbacoa is a little greasy so if you're not into slightly greasy barbacoa then go somewhere else but it doesn't bother me at all. Been going for years and it's been great all those years! The tacos are always hot and the people arw great and friendly.

I pass this place on my way to work almost every morning. They always have a line in their drive thru, so I decided to try it out the other day. I had 2 bacon, egg, and cheese tacos. They were really good and fresh too. I haven't been to Benny's Tacos for lunch, so I'm not sure how it is. I do recommend their breakfast tacos though. read more

TL;DR: Great potato-n-egg and bean-n-cheese tacos. Awesome salsa verde & decent salsa rojo. $1.75 for 2 tacos on weekday mornings (don't remember the specific hours). Delicious, home-made flour tortillas. All these things together make this my favorite breakfast taco in town. I do love breakfast tacos, but I'm kind of a stick in the mud about them. I nearly never venture away from my usual potato egg (with salsa verde) and bean cheese (with salsa rojo) tacos on flour tortillas. If I do, it might be for a barbacoa taco. And my recent favorite breakfast taco is Benny's. In fact, this place just beat out my other preferences: Bill Miller, Taco Palenque, and Las Palapas. And dude, this place is cheap! $1.75 for 2 breakfast tacos on weekday mornings. The tacos are good sized for the price. Plus, they were fresh-made every time I have visited. While the salsa rojo is decent, if not a bit vinegary, the salsa verde has a kick and is very good. Drive thru service is pretty quick. Just remember the $5 minimum for all debit and credit card purchases. I have yet to visit the inside of the restaurant or try any of their lunch and dinner plates. I should point out that the drive thru and restaurant exterior badly need a facelift. This makes me believe the other reviews that the inside needs a good cleaning. read more

Came here on Sunday around brunch. 10:40 am to be exact. They were quick to seat us, get our drinks & get our orders. 30 min goes by, nothing. Yet the party of 5 who came in behind us all had gotten served. 2 other couple who came after us also got their food. And that was that for me. It had been AN HOUR since we ordered & still no food in sight. I told my husband let's go to the front & at least pay for the drinks. Magically then, did the front host said our food was ready. I try to rate based on the level of restaurant I'm patronizing. I don't pay $5 for a steak and ding the restaurant because it wasn't like Ruth's Chris. If the food is overall prepared and seasoned well, I'm not gonna ding them in rating because i just didn't personally like it. Your tastes may differ from mine. The 2 breakfast tacos for $1.75 and really good reviews on another site is what brought us in. At that price there wasn't a huge variety but still plenty enough for cheap. The only meat offered on the discount tacos was chorizo so I ordered my standard bean, bacon & egg. I don't know how something so simple can taste so different in different places but these were good & good sized for $1.69 each. My wife's choice of a "deluxe" pork chop taco was full of meat but very bland and had a kind of "fresh yesterday" taste. If you want chips and salsa you need to request it and it's free. Both red and green sauces weren't very hot but that's fine for me. The red sauce was very vinegary which I don't like. The green was tasty. As reported by others coffee was good. Now for the dings. Poor service. The waitresses had a tendency to cluster and just talk. Frequently we couldn't get ours attention to fill needs she should have known on her own without being asked. Very friendly but it's a restaurant not a popularity contest. This bothers me more than most things when a restaurant isn't very busy. DIRTY A$$ BATHROOMS. It's obvious few men are raised today with the understanding of civilized bathroom hygienics. (Really what DID your parent teach you?!) The restaurant can't be responsible for the animals that go in there but there were archeological strata of filth possibly going back decades. That can be helped. I see others mention "there are lot of better places" at this price-point. I'm sure there are in San Antonio but I would come back. At least for one more shot. read more
