Ordered on Uber Eats. I've been craving middle eastern food more often being away from family. I was a bit disappointed. Chicken shawafel wasn't good, the hummus tasted canned. The beets with the parsley and onion wasn't good. The garlic dip is WAY too garlicky. Waited an hour and spent $75 and didn't even eat more than a few bites. Layla's is the OG for Middle Eastern food in the area. Their hummus is delicious and smooth. On a recent Door Dash order, however, I was very disappointed. I'd never do that again. You miss out on the warm pita and warm spinach pies. Dining is in the way to go. The food is delicious, however, the service is something that needs major work. I work for a company that consistently orders from this restaurant as a good place to get food. However, every single time we order there is an issue with the food being delivered correctly. Platters and bowls are ALWAYS missed and mistakes are always made with our food. It really makes me upset to know a place with such good food has such terrible service. There should be no reason I order 10 items and am giving my hard earned money, to just receive 5 of those items and it get cleared up with a "sorry we forgot". As a business that allows food to be ordered for takeout, please do better. If something doesn't change, this business will lose a solid 10 customers on a weekly basis. The chicken schawarma wrap was very different from what we got there before the makeover. I think they are using a different wrap that is very dry and not very flavorful. Will try the Westport location to see if the changes have been made chain wide. read more

Layla's Falafel of Fairfield ( Westport and Stratford also have locations) is my new favorite spot. The place is small with a few tables and a counter-like seating area by the window. Service is genuinely friendly and so welcoming. The display case showcases many fresh salads and other mouth watering goodies, lots of veggies options. The fluffy pitas are absolutely delicious and you can buy them in packs of 3 to take home along with fresh made hummus if you do choose. For my first visit I got the lamb shawarma on a fluffy pita and loved every bite. I also brought home the daily made hummus and fluffy pitas--- such a wonderful snack. Addicting. My second visit was to pick up more fluffy pitas and try a meat kibbie! I wished I had gotten more as the crunchy outer exterior was perfect for the moist meat filling. Layla herself suggested I try a new dessert just out of the oven! Of course! It was insanely good with a flaky phyllo dough exterior with a cheesecake like filling! OMG! I will definitely be back for this dessert and pita replenishment. I also cannot wait to try every other item on the menu. It had been probably 5 years since I had Laylas so I decided to stop in tonight. They were relatively busy but my food came out fast, I only waited about 5 min. I'm giving 3 stars because I didn't exactly get what I had ordered. Upon reading the reviews this seems to be a recurring problem. I asked for rice, I got rice and lentils, I don't like lentils and it's impossible to pick them out. I asked for lettuce, no lettuce. I asked for tahini on it with the hot sauce on the side, I got no tahini and two containers of hot sauce on the side. And I got the TINIEST amount of tzatziki. The chicken kebab was seasoned amazingly and nicely cooked. The baba ghanoush is super tasty with the fluffy pita. The food I did get was good but I would have given more stars if I had gotten exactly what I had ordered. read more

This place opened in 2005 and my family and I eventually gave it a try in 2008. We have been hooked ever since. We had never tried middle eastern food before, but decided to give it a shot because some of the food on their menu was similar to Greek food (we're Greek). We decided to get a big spread this time. I personally have tried falafel from many places and this establishment's namesake is the best I've ever had. Few even come close. It has the perfect blend of spices and they're fried up nice and crispy without being overly oily. The mujadara has a nice earthy flavor to it and is very satisfying to me. The hummus, stuffed grape leaves and spinach pie are also delicious. But one of the things that this place is known for is its garlic dip. We put it on everything, including non middle eastern food. It's garlicky, bold, savory and addicting and pairs well with pretty much everything else we purchased. I'm done gushing. Just eat here. read more

I mostly use Laylas for catering and I have never gotten more compliments on food than I do with Laylas and I've been in the industry 20+ years. Their hummus is beautifully freshly made with high quality olive oil. Not only can you taste the difference the texture is creamier and smoother as well. The chicken is melt in your mouth good. I am normally not a fan of baklava but I will eat their's every single time. It's worth every sweet, flaky, nutty calorie! The beet salad is bright and delightful. So ordering from here is very confusing online as there's a few places named Layla's falafel in the area. Double check the website address if your ordering online (free delivery 50$). So I picked up instead and will 100% be coming back. It was delicious!! Best falafel I've ever had. I did the falafel wrap and WOW, it was amazing. My friend did the pita, and she said hers was good as well but it was a bit more messy and harder to save for later. I had not had Layla's in years but decided to order online. Quality of food was good but I didn't get what I ordered (and it was a small simple order) - one bowl only (small order on a Wednesday night) but they didn't include the 2 sauces and I ordered a rice base and got just lettuce. Also toppings not as ordered. Very disappointed overall and threw away most of the order. Not much flavor without sauce. Maybe better luck in person? I did call and they said they would refund the cost of my meal. I'd like to add Layla's to my list of deliveries, but not a good first impression. read more
