Overall talented florist- not great customer communication or service as some questions on value of some things - I asked for renderings repeatedly and never got them on the things we weren't agreeing on. Look at the pictures and tell me if those bouquets are so unique that you couldn't send any renderings of what to expect. Some renderings were given of other wedding installments and those items delivered excellently. Some gorgeous stuff! The first full design meeting was four months prior to the wedding and she told me it was too late to change design. Literally those were her words. She was rude and the design person basically kept her from meeting with customers ( me) post that meeting because of it. I should have insisted which is where I talk accountability. It put him In a difficult place when she didn't deliver The brides bouquet was 5 or 6 stems wrapped in ribbon. It was supposed to flow down and incorporate pearls -white orchids - none used - it did not flow down. The bridesmaids were supposed to be unique design to match designs of dresses that were very different in design and color. She just gave stems of flowers that were colors to match. Zero unique design. To top it off more than half were EXACTLY the same FLOWERS - she did for a wedding 6 days earlier - we invested the most in our budget for any one vendor in flowers and I am sorry we did that. There were areas of the wedding that were fantastic but completely offset by severely bad execution in other areas Attached are pictures of the bridesmaids and their flowers. Again they looked fine but it was not what I was promised and each of the individual bouquets coast was 150$ and my bride was 300$. For a few stems .. I have also added a picture of the ceremony. Two large stacks of cabbages ( don't judge- We loved the cabbages ) and the alter in the back. 6500$. Cabbages are clearly not that expensive and the alter is sparse at best and was promised to be over the top full and built out. The reception was nicely done but still had areas I had asked her to change and she just simply did not - as with the other poor review she yelled and swore at my at my designer who was trying to correct the issues during instalation , in front of all of the vendors - my planner had never seen anything like it- horrified! So Jill is talented but is going to do what she wants to do and you better not get in her way. Bad customer interaction and zero listening and adjusting where asked. I'd also question the allocation of the budget. I had so much fun working with Jill and her amazing team for my wedding back in January 2020. Jill is so incredibly talented and a true floral designer; it's clear that she's passionate about what she does and is super creative with her ingredient choices. I'm a graphic designer so I had a pretty particular vision for how I wanted my wedding to look, but I 100% trusted Jill to create something I'd be happy with based on all the amazing projects on her instagram (where I found her). She was fun to work with on a creative level and I felt like she knew exactly what I was going for and had some great ideas too. Throughout the process she was extremely helpful, even made recommendations for other vendors that she felt would fit my style, and was always available to answer any questions I had. In the days leading up to the wedding I shared some photos of all the signage & details I'd finally finished, and based on that she decided to change a few things she had originally planned in order to better match my aesthetic. She even texted me the day before, excited because she wanted to run a last minute idea by me of including another ingredient she thought would be a fun addition. I was so amazed when I saw everything for the first time - it all turned out even better than I could've imagined! Our guests couldn't stop raving about how beautiful and unique the flowers & arrangements were. Anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows how stressful and expensive it is. Jill made this part of the process easy and was super accommodating. We ended up spending quite a bit since we had a huge wedding party (16 total), 20 tables, and wanted a floral arch and hanging installation, but I felt the pricing was quite fair and Jill did a great job working with our budget and coming up with solutions that we would be happy with, if something was out of budget. She even spoke to our venue about adding a few hours to our rental time (at no cost) so she & her team plus a few of our other vendors could get in earlier and have more time to set up. Jill is the best at what she does. When we started planning our wedding, I looked at (literally: a zillion) San Diego-area florists' portfolios (and this is coming from someone who thought I "don't care that much about flowers") - but after I lapped the block a few times, Jill was the ONLY choice... and is a head & shoulders above her competition (who I'm sure are all lovely, but her talent is unmatched). We just had to reschedule our 4/4/20 wedding for the Fall due to COVID-19, but Jill could not have been lovelier or more accommodating. And I already know from the mock-ups we've done and from what's on tap that I could not have lived without her for our rescheduled date, should we have run into a conflict vendor-wise. I saw Hilary's review below and was disappointed to hear she had an unfortunate experience. I had such a wonderful experience (even asked if Jill offered other installations/services for the home). My only complaint--it's a shame she is not located in Los Angeles. Jill is great at what she does and here is why (along with a few tips): 1. Commitment - She will work with you to understand your vision. DO: Give her a few phrases of what you envision (e.g., ethereal, wildflowers, folksy, whatever words you are feeling, seriously) + pictures of your favorite bouquets and/or looks (doesn't necessarily have to be flowers). She'll come up with a few images of what she believes is YOUR vision. If it isn't, she will work with you to understand what you are trying to tell her. 2. Talent - She is an artist There are lots of people who cut hair, but who do you really trust to cut your hair? I think of a florist the same way. There are lots of florists out there with different styles and varying skills/levels of experience. With that being said, trust Jill 100%. Outside of giving a few images of what I was looking for, I gave Jill complete creativity in my floral arrangements, and was amazed at her level of creativity and attention to detail. Jill and her flowers are amazing! I follow her on Instagram and am in love with everything she posts. If you love her style as much as I do, my best advice to any brides to be is to tell her your theme or colors, and then let her run with it. She will do an amazing job!! I trusted Jill as my florist when planning my wedding in San Diego from NYC. When we started working together she didn't have any other events scheduled on my wedding day of 7/1 and she seemed like she would be great to work with. I had some complicated requests and stretched my budget to 7K budget so I thought that would be enough money to spent to encourage her to use her creativity to produce outstanding work for my wedding. However, on my wedding day she wasn't at my venue or available to talk. My bridal bouquet was a hot mess and it weighed 20lbs with a soaking wet ribbon. My bridesmaids bouquets were also awful. Also, no flowers on the cake and my flower Lei's broke as soon as I picked them up. Could have been a quick fix had she been available. She was totally unavailable all day because she booked THREE other wedding!! I was so stupid to trust her! I asked my wedding planner to see if she could come back and fix everything several time. Finally two hours before my wedding was to end she showed up and argued loudly with me. Dude. Jill you yelled at me at my wedding and I had to ask you to leave. All you had to do was say congrats and let me fix this. It was all sooooo beyond inappropriate and should never have happened. Then three weeks after my wedding her social media posts advertising her as a florist showed pics from my wedding. I also found out that she was unavailable on my wedding day because of her three additional wedding from her social media posts. I'm so disappointed in Jill and Layered Vintage as a vendor. I and want to warn other brides to NEVER book this person. Jill is not trustworthy. She refunded me 600$ but c'mom man. That's not even 10% of what I spent and this isn't even about that. I should never had been yelled at by my florist who was sloppy and unavailable on my wedding day!!!!!!!!!! Jill. This is an honest review. 1. You loudly argued with me in front of my grooms family seated at table 2, my wedding planner lisa and my caterer! I asked you to leave and yes I yelled back. It happened and you apologized to me afterwards. 2. We started calling, emailing and texting you to come fix the bridal party florals at 12:30 or 1. You decided to respond at 6 when my wedding planner broke your phone to come back and fix the cake. 3. You started using pictures of flowers from my wedding to advertise yourself on social media. It all came up in my feed. You wrote about your three weddings on my day and advertised your services as a florist with pictures from my event. 4. Basically everything but the table centerpieces was bad. The table centerpieces were great! Everything else was a mess! I was pretty clear about that. 5. Less than 10% of my Yelp reviews are negative and a person or business has to be a pretty big disaster to get a review like this from me! 6. After the wedding you apologized to me for arguing with me at the wedding and being generally unavailable all day. Then you sent a refund. It sounds like you forgot about this after I reviewed you. I keep getting a million notices of messages and updates to your comments bashing me on Yelp. I'm not responding to this anymore.
