Taking the LAX FlyAway is the move! We took it both coming and going and had no issues. It is $12.75 per person for a one-way trip, so you do the math. You can buy a ticket at a kiosk or on their app or website, but we found the easiest method was to tap and go on the bus with our contactless credit card. There's ample signage around Union Station to find the pickup spot, and the bus was always there waiting for us. Buses run every half hour, but check the website - they recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before departure time, and note that boarding closes two minutes before departure. This was definitely the case, our bus left before the half-hour mark, so be at the stop early! They recommend allowing 30 to 60 minutes of travel time. Before boarding, a staff member was present to help tag the luggage and load it into the bus storage space below. You tell them which airline, and they will tag and load the luggage appropriately so that the bus driver knows which luggage to unload at each terminal. They have a very organized system in place, which I appreciate. After our luggage was handled, we boarded and tapped our card for payment. The driver asked which airline and made a note for himself. It's open seating. There is WiFi, but it is limited. There are also charging ports, which is a welcome amenity. Eating and drinking are not permitted on the bus. One passenger was carrying on a box of pastries, and the bus driver made him stuff it away in his backpack. We found it took an average of 45 minutes for each ride, even during peak LA traffic. The drivers are experienced and take the expressway (all good things - you can't necessarily say the same thing for Uber/Lyft drivers). When we arrived at LAX, the driver would announce each terminal number and then unload the luggage that was tagged for each terminal, and then we were on our way! For airport pick-up, again, they had adequate signage at the ground transportation area to direct you to the LAX FlyAway pickup area. Once you find the designated area, you stand and wait (just as you would at any other bus stop). There are multiple FlyAway routes, so be sure to get on the correct one! We were waiting for the Union Station bus, but the VanNuys bus came first. Fortunately, the buses are labeled with the route and the bus driver will assist you when he steps off to load the luggage. The VanNuys bus driver was kind enough to notify us that the Union Station bus would be along shortly. I appreciate both the communication that the bus drivers have with one another to be able to give these updates, and the staff's attitude that all FlyAway customers are their customers to assist, not just the ones riding their bus. LAX FlyAway is a consistent, reliable, quick, and affordable way to get to and from LAX. Highly recommend! read more

I've always enjoyed taking the FlyAway, but the reason I'm updating my review is that we took two trips recently and had a horrible experience. We flew back into LAX on United Airlines, which is Terminal 7. We waited at the FlyAway stop for well over an hour. Many FlyAway buses going to Van Nuys stopped, but none for Union Station, where we were going to. One Union Station bus passed by, but it was full, so didn't stop. The woman standing in line in front of us said she had been waiting for over two hours, and she counted at least 9 Van Nuys buses came and stopped to pick up passengers. Also, I called the FlyAway 800 number and spoke to a representative, asking what happened to the Union Station bus. She said not to worry, that it was on the way. This was a lie! It never came, and we ended up leaving and taking a Lyft home. So frustrating! The next trip we took, we also flew on United, so went to the Terminal 7 FlyAway stop. This time, after about 30 minutes, a Union Station FlyAway did come, and we were able to get on and go to Union Station. I would say we waited around 30 minutes for the bus to arrive at LAX. Also, the arrival schedule that is posted at the Terminal is not correct, and the buses do not seem to follow any schedule. Since the second time we were able to take the FlyAway from LAX to Union Station, I'm giving a 2 rating, instead of a 1. Also, I do NOT recommend buying a ticket via the FlyAway app in advance! You can't beat the price of 2 pax to union station/van nuys for $25. It's no frills and a bit anxiety inducing but something I always take. They pick you up right at the arrivals gate for TBIT. Not hard to find- the poles are painted teal so they're very easy to find. It's a hit or miss- either the bus is at max capacity or it's you and 3 other people heading to Union station. I suggest uploading the flyaway app so you can prepay and scan. One device can be used for multiple people but you will basically have to back click and scan each pass. I had 2 checked bags and. After a long delayed flight, I was anxious to get home. The terminal seven fly away station is so inaccurate in terms of timing. The schedule says look for the fly away at 10 o'clock. At 10 o'clock I was standing outside at the pick up spot no bus ever came. I waited 40 minutes and there was no fly away to Van nine. Fly away to Union Station but no fly away to Van. Fly away supposed to come every 20 minutes and I've been waiting for 40 minutes. The bus is clean and never looks otherwise. There are outlets and overhead bins for your belongings, as well as space below the bus for bigger items like suitcases. I have been using the Flyaway for at least 5 years now, so this review is long overdue. The price has been $9.75 one way to and from LAX since I started using it. The price is unbeatable plus you save your loved ones from having to drive in LA traffic to LAX. It's always at least 2 hours round trip without traffic and with traffic could be 3 hours, definitely not worth it. Gas is already so expensive in CA, like $4-5/g. I will say, don't expect the bus to arrive the times that you see on the schedule. Leaving the UStation to LAX is usually consistent but the other way around when it's leaving LAX to go to Union Station has been inconsistent with the times many times for me. In addition, depending when you land (maybe during peak holiday seasons or prime traffic hours) the buses can FILL up to have zero space so you end up having to wait for the next bus and possibly the next one again, There was one time where I landed at around 3/4pm on a Friday at Terminal 5/6, and it was the worst. The first few buses were completely filled. I already told my family to pick me up at the Union Station and didn't want anyone to endure LA traffic during prime time to come get me at LAX, so after waiting for a couple hours for a bus with vacancy, I ALMOST ended up calling a $70 Uber because it was already 6PM at that point and hours since I landed, Instead, I decided to try one more thing- which was to walk to Terminal 1 where I'd be the first one to be picked up, The walk was treacherous, especially with a checked bag, a carry on, and backpack but I was able to catch the next bus that not only came but had space! I ended up not getting back to my destination until around 8PM ish! That ^ was the worst experience I had with LAX flyaway. Don't let that deter you though. Taking this Flyaway saves gas/ resources, time and money- someone's time as well having to pick you up. This is a great way to get to and from the airport if you can get dropped off in Van Nuys or the Union Station. It's $12.50 to take a comfy air conditioned bus to Union Station from LAX and or vice versa. It's the only way to go. It took about 30 minutes to get out of LAX once I was picked up bc the bus won't leave until all seats are filled and there were many FLYAWAY Blue pillar stops inside LAX to ensure they get everyone from each departure. You can purchase ahead of time, you can download the app, or you can have your cc ready and pay as you board inside. The ride was enjoyable, easy, and as a first timer I know it won't be my last. You know what? I don't see anything wrong with the LAX FlyAway. It's a godsend for when you are in a rush and are trying to go home after going whack at a music festival. When Alaska and Southwest don't align with your schedule, this bus does the trick if you need to catch a Delta Airlines flight. Buses are not so bad they are very comfortable and get you to LAX on time. Inside of the bus is very clean. There is ample leg room as well. After looking at it for many years, I finally made use of this bus. This year is my very first one. It is easy to find as well when you get off the train from either direction. I was coming in from Santa Ana. Believe it or not the price to ride this bus is a lot cheaper than an uber or lyft. If you miss one bus do no panic another one will always arrive. Seats are vinyl leather like so it's clean, no dirty smelly carpet, no odors, charging stations in each seating area including USB and sockets for adaptors. It comes every 30 minutes on the hour and the half hour 24/7. And bc it uses the Hov lanes the ride is pretty consistently about 30 minutes from Union Station to LAX. They are kind to call each terminal for you and takes notes on which terminal you are going to. There's plenty of luggage space for large suitcases on the bottom. It's the best way to get to the airport. This beats a $60 Uber or Lyft ride and you can tap your credit card if it's tap able so you don't need a ticket printed in advance. The cheapest way to get to LAX from Union Station. I do this in combo with Amtrak to get to and from LAX. Plus I get to ride with 50 of my closest friends. The trick is to time your arrival into Union station so you don't have to wait for the bus. Buses leave every 30 minutes starting at 5:40a until 11::30 pm. The 3a, 4am, and 5am buses only leave on the hour. BUT traffic can affect the schedule. The bus costs $9.75 per person one-way to LAX from Union Station.you can buy your tickets online, via the app, or at the kiosk. If you don't have a credit or debit card there is a Cash purchase kiosk inside Union Station. Credit and debit card purchases outside by Bay 1. I buy my ticket right before getting on the bus. This gives me options in case the bus is late or full. They load your luggage on the bus based on what airline you're flying. Depending on the bus, seats are leather and offer decent leg room. Pull down shades at the window so you aren't blinded by the sun. Temperature controls like an airplane. Tiny overhead bin space just big enough for a small backpack. Some buses have outlets and USB ports at each seat. Today's bus did not Drops off curbside at departures. read more

I was trying to board the 5:30 pm bus and was waiting in line for the porter to put a tag on my suitcase. The porter yelled at me for pulling my suitcase forward besides the other cases. I thought there was a tap machine on the bus but the cust. service lady told me to back to the kiosk a few feet away. It's not visible when I past it. Then the bus left without me. So I had to be delayed for another half hour and boarded the 6pm bus. Then as I boarded I saw the Tap machine on the bus. Basically the Driver refused to wait another min and I did hear him he had to go but I think he asked out loud if I had a tap card. I had to drag my heavy suitcase and backpack to get to the Little Tokyo Metro station from the Doubletree. My fault not to allow extra time, but I did look at the Muni App to get the schedules. The cust. Service lady should of not directed me to the Kiosk since she knew the bus driver was in a hurry. They also need to hire more cheerful porters. My porter was Super rude. Since I couldn't leave a review with no star, I am giving them one. Yesterday I watched six (6) buses pass me at LAX. From 9:45 pm to 12:30 am, I waited to get a ride back to my car at the Van Nuys station. Buses going to Union Station were frequent and accessible (I actually saw the same driver twice). For those on the Van Nuys route, once they picked up at terminals 1-3, they couldn't pick up any other passengers. I find it incredible that no one notified dispatch that they were leaving passengers stranded for hours at the airport. This is a BROKEN system that must be fixed. If you are going to provide a transport service for LAX, you need to either add larger buses, more buses more frequently, or allow those travelers on United and other airlines at terminal 6 to be the first stop at least every other pickup. No one should have to stand at the terminal waiting for a bus for almost three (3) hours. Not everyone can sprint to terminal one (1), so get it together or stop taking our money and providing mediocre service. read more

I took the flyaway bus for years without problems, but the last two times were definitely bad experiences. Never again. A year ago they were 20 mins late getting to Union Station, with the bad traffic at LAX. I was 10 minutes late to check in for my flight. The WORST though, was coming home from my Christmas holiday this year, After already experiencing delays with the airlines, I made it in time to catch the last bus (1:10am). It NEVER CAME. Next bus was 4,5 hrs away. You might see online that they are 24 hrs. Not true. Called customer service to get a refund, having paid in the app. I was told someone would e-mail in 5 days. Been a week. Not holding my breath. They seem very disorganized, from my conversation with customer service. Keep the ten dollars if you like stealing money from people. I expected delays due to rush hour traffic but I wasn't happy our bus left 10 minutes after the scheduled time because they kept loading people and some of those late arrivals couldn't figure out how to pay. So my advice is to plan on at least an hour ride and to get the tickets on your smartphone before boarding. Bus is comfortable and much, much cheaper than a taxi. Not much room for carryon luggage - you have to put your wheeled suitcases in the low compartment storage and pray your luggage will still be there when you arrive at your terminal. read more

Overall, good. Some agents/drivers instead of being helpful, I guess feel achieved when being passive aggressive. I never rode FlyAway before and wasnt sure entirely how to scan ticket correctly, or if correct bus. Though I did get it done quickly and found it was the right bus, the way they responded was unnecessarily rude. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Though it was very smooth ride, I'm on the fence about doing it again just b/c of the 1st time impression. Still give it a go though. Maybe it was just a weird day or something. Beware - Driver LEFT station 2 minutes before departure time. The driver saw me arrive as he close the doors but took off. The sign should say Bus Departs 2 minutes before schedule. Also, if that is true, that should be stated on their website. I checked the schedule on the website and did not see this rule posted. I love this service which gets me to LAX quickly. But they need to improve communication to customers. If I expect to a catch a 9:30 bus and the bus actually leaves at 9:28, I need to know that before hand so I can plan accordingly to arrive earlier, not upon arrival at the bus stop. read more

Upped their prices to $12.75 without changing the frequency of the buses. Simply not worth it anymore to have to wait half an hour to an hour to take a one-stop ride to Union Station. I was refused a ride to Union Station with two checked luggage, each under 44lbs, and one carry on plus a personal bag. According to their general Baggage Information, the driver should not have any excuse to stop me from receiving FlyAway service. I even offered to purchase two seating tickets, but I was still rejected to board the shuttle. Remember back in the day when you'd ask friends to drive you to the airport? Or, even worse, your friend asked you to pick them up at the airport? In my experience, sometime in the past 10-15 years, this stopped. I can't imagine asking someone to drive me, or pick me up from LAX... to take hours out of their day and brave aggressive traffic on my behalf. The answer is FlyAway. While unimaginable to ask someone to drive me into the hellmouth of LAX, a quick drop off at Union Station (or Van Nuys Airport) is reasonable. The Flyaway is very reliable, and leaves every 30 from the above locations. The drivers are fairly aggressive and muscle this comfy bus ride all the way to your terminal. Catching the Flyaway back from LAX to Union Station is a little more hit/miss timing wise, but patience usually makes it worth while. There's a large drop off and pick up area at Union Station for vehicles, or any number of options to use mass transit to get to your final destination. I'm a fan. read more

My go to for a safe, cheap and fast way to get to and from LAX airport. They pick you up almost every 30 mins stopping at all terminals and drop you off at Union station downtown where you can continue your cheap journey to wherever. The customer service handles your baggage and drops it off with you at your destination. There is a bathroom on board that I believe you can use as needed. Overall the seats and aisles are clean, no odor and the windows are big, high up where you can see the road no matter where your seated.
