As a new person I must say that I talked to Brian and the bar tender for an hour and a half so the place was welcoming and not clicky like some bars. Their location, situated at the end of the strip, made finding parking a breeze. The staff was helpful in the selection process and came back to the table to ensure everyone was enjoying it. Even after we settled on a Boudreaux Blanc, the staff, hearing I wasn't the biggest fan of whites, came back to offer me a sample of a red he thought I may enjoy. He was 100% right. They have ample outdoor seating which we utilized this evening. Luckily this evening, the villages 4th of July festivities were also happening so we had some live music to enjoy as well. Finally, while they put together a tasty charcuterie board themselves, they also team up with other village establishments to offer more food options that can be delivered right to your table at Vintage 38. This wasn't about a dress code. This wasn't about safety. This was racial profiling -- blatant, obvious, and unprovoked. I put my bag on the barstool, took my fur off and immediately in less than two minutes problems based on purely our appearance. Which is how racism works actually. I am African American, and as soon as they saw we weren't white, the tone shifted. This place caters strictly to white patrons and the few Hispanic customers willing to tolerate disrespect. Everyone else is treated as a problem before they even order a drink. Coming from New York City, I know nightlife, I know professionalism, and I know discriminatory behavior when I see it. So after a couple of cocktails you may want some food to coat your stomach and yes they have bar food. It's cheap, greasy and will hit the spot after a couple libations. Nothing special but it's solid bar food. The staff is friendly and tries to get to know you and will call you by your first name and remember your drink. The interior is just like a good dive bar but it is exceptionally clean.
