Our waiter was very attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine to share, and I did have a cocktail as well. Their cocktail menu is put together very well. They have an option for everyone. I ordered the chilean sea bass. The parmesan crust on it was perfect. For some reason I was picturing a more crispy hard crust, but it was nice and soft. The fish itself was perfectly cooked. We opt'ed out of dessert, but maybe next time! This was a special experience.

The Eleanor Room: Named after the former first lady and wife of FDR, The Eleanor Room (TER) opened…read moreits doors relatively recently in 2024. It's located just south of Milwaukee in the elegant Historic Downtown Center of Greendale, WI. As much as I appreciate history and have studied WWII (which FDR obviously played a critical role), it was not the theming, but the menu that attracted me. Particularly, their Monte Cristo, which is a favorite culinary indulgence of mine and why I selected the restaurant for my birthday lunch with my family on 8/18. Eleanor's version utilizes ham, bacon, provolone cheese, and American cheese all sandwiched between tempura battered French Toast. For those of you unfamiliar with tempura (it's okay, I was), it's a thin, light, and crisp coating originating from Japan. Tempura batter is made from cold water, low-protein flour, and usually beaten egg. It is mixed minimally and to prevent gluten development, it must be kept ice-cold. The process creates an airy, delicate crust when deep-fried. TER's Monte Cristo was phenomenal and really hit the spot as it's the perfect combination of sweet from the powdered sugar & warm maple syrup on the girthy & crispy French toast and savory from the thickly cut ham and flavorful bacon. One type of cheese would not have been enough for this Wisconsinite, but the one-two combo from the melty provolone and American cheeses was enough to satisfy. Doughboy approved Peter Pan Cocktail: When it comes to spirits, rum tends to be my got to (along with the occasional whiskey), but the allure of a peanut butter cocktail was too much to pass up. The "Peter Pan" is made using Chica Chida Peanut Butter Tequila, whipped vodka, white chocolate, and cream. The taste was everything I dreamed it would be, which is sweet, creamy, cool, and peanut buttery. It might be a little hard to discern in the pictures I took, but there were even little sparkling flakes on the surface of the cocktail. Doughboy approved No Bake Cheesecake: Lastly, our dessert, which is not an orderable item on the menu. Gabriel offered this as we were celebrating my birthday, and it was exquisite. I had low expectations when he mentioned it, but the presentation ended up shocking me with how immaculate it looked. A three-tiered cheesecake containing chocolate cookie pieces surrounded by dollops of whipped cream and as a finishing touch, even a candle. The coolness of the dessert on my tongue along with the creamy texture was ice-cream-like. Honestly, probably the best birthday "freebie" I've had at a sit-down restaurant. Usually, it's a mundane scoop of vanilla ice cream. Their no bake cheesecake is Doughboy approved Additional restaurant highlights include being able to make a reservation, indoor & outdoor seating (likely not applicable in winter), clean restroom (but it is single occupant use), pleasant décor, and a robust bar/drink selection. Doughboy_Food_Review *Little details can have enormous ramifications and our waiter Gabriel ended up making all the difference. When it came to my turn to order, he initially informed me that he thought the restaurant was "out of" the Monte Cristo. Now, he already knew we were there for my birthday, I made it clear (as I mentioned earlier) the whole reason we were even there was for this sandwich, I asked if he could inquire with the chef, exactly what ingredient they were out of. After Gabriel did some investigating, he ascertained that the chef could indeed make the sandwich, it was just that they typically pre-make some portions, which keeps the sandwich more compact and less "loose". That was fine with me, it ended up being delicious, and we had an enjoyable meal. I could have went without the three minutes of an elevated blood pressure on my birthday while he went to the kitchen though. Had the Monte Cristo been truly unobtainable, I would have wanted to leave. It's more likely my family would have wanted to stay and had me order something else that I wouldn't have been pleased about (I'm very selective). Either way, it would have resulted in a 1-star review and never returning. So, thanks to Gabriel, it's 4 stars and likely another visit at some point.

They do a tremendous job of explaining the menu and food options in detail, and ensure you have a great experience from start to finish. The drinks? Nothing short of amazing. They vary the featured cocktails menu every 8 weeks, so most likely you'll get a different experience every time you go. However you can always get your classic cocktails like Margaritas, French 75 and Martinis. They also can do any drink NA which is the first of its kind in the US. They have an option called dealers choice, where you can pick the spirit and flavor profile of the drink you want: spicy, sour, floral, smoky etc. no limits! You write down on a card what you want and they craft you a cocktail based on your selections. They also offer a variety of food pairings to go along with the select, featured drink you order. We got spring rolls, a braised, pork infused doughnut, and an incredible bone broth that still has me in a tizzy. Fair warning: it's small and difficult to get a reservation - don't try your luck walking in, this place is a hot ticket and you won't be able to get in without a resy, which could be weeks or months out. This is a true gem of a cocktail bar, and is as good as anything you would find in New York or Chicago.

I love all the air plants they have and the dark interior really does make it more of a "classy dive" as their name suggests. We came here for a Sunday lunch and to catch the Brewers game. They had a three dollar special on domestics when we went, which was cool. Our server was nice and our orders came out promptly. The food was absolutely delicious. I was blown away by it actually. When I go to dive bars, I don't have the highest expectations for the food because usually the food is mediocre. However, at this bar, it really blew me away. I had the ODB smashburger with regular fries. The burger was juicy and flavorful with such a fluffy, soft bun. I love that they put crispy onion straws in it for a little crunch. The fries are steak fries. They had some beer batter type of coating that made them so crispy and yummy. I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. I look forward to coming back to catch another game and eat their delicious food!
