Stopped here on a road trip and paid $8 for a matcha. I really wanted to support a local business instead of going to a bigger chain like Starbucks or Dutch Bros, but I was honestly disappointed. The matcha was very watered down and not creamy like I'm used to -- especially at that price point. The staff were super kind and great to chat with, which makes this harder to say. I just think if you're charging $8, the quality and ingredients shouldn't feel cheap. I'd love to see them improve the consistency because the vibe and service were great. read more

The latte here is so smooth. They know what they are doing, 10/10. We landed in PDX and stuffed ourselves with In-N-Out across the street from here. We needed a coffee pick-me-up. A quick search revealed this gem. It is a small cafe with big flavor and great service. I hope to end up here again. read more

We stopped by after our trek to In-N-Out. It's a comfortable space in an office building on Pioneer St. near Vancouver Clinic. Super-nice owner and the coffee is very good. Next time we're in Ridgefield we'll pop in again. read more

I saw their sign driving down Pioneer. Didn't think there was a coffee shop in that particular plaza. Decided to give them a try. They have everything you could want for coffee. I also love that they have pictures of what exactly is in each drink. So, if I ordered a latte then it shows exactly how much milk is in it and how much espresso is in it. They are so very friendly as well. My son came in with me and they gave him a kids cup of whipped cream and sprinkles. He was so happy! He now requests to go there when we pass by. There's a lot of sitting space as well. I do wish they had some more hot food items for breakfast though. We will be back again! read more

LOVE this cute little coffee spot! I wasn't sure if this would be your typical coffee shop with the typical decor, over hyped, overpriced and under delivered. I was so glad I gave it a shot! I've tried multiple drinks on the menu and I love them all but my favorite was the lavender latte! Not overly floral, with just enough sweetness and the coffee is soooo smooth. Most of the chain coffee places have such strong acidic coffee that they have to add so much sweetener just for it to taste good. On the other hand, these small coffee shops aren't usually sweet enough for my liking. Lava Javas coffee was perfect! read more

This review is long overdue! I've been in 3 or 4x and I get something different each time. I've never had anything I didn't love and I'm such a fan! The barista is super friendly and the owner who is usually also around is lovely as well. Their muffins are killer! They also carry Proud Mary coffee which is awesome if you don't want to drive all the way to Portland and stand in their long line. If I had to change anything I'd love to see hot breakfast items on their menu but other than that I'm a happy camper! read more

Just off I-5 you can find this wonderful friendly coffee shop. The owner a world winning barista runs the shop and makes some of the best coffees around. Surrounded by nice faces and a great space. This is one of my go to coffee shops in Ridgefield. I have been coming here for years. They also have great coffee selections for you home. Worth the stop every time. read more

[Visited July 22nd, 2023] My boyfriend and I stopped here because it was on the way to the casino's in La Center. Phuon, the owner was very personable and friendly. We had a great conversation and she told us about things to do in town since we are new to the area. It has a very bright, clean, and fun atmosphere. Would definitely love to do some homework here one day. You can tell they care about this space I got an oat milk mocha and my boyfriend got an americano. We both really really liked our drinks! Yum! I love supporting this small coffee shop! There are literally two Starbucks down the street but I prefer Java Lava! Love coming here for the caramel latte with oat milk, never disappoints!! It's always very welcoming, Very clean, airy and zen when the machines aren't going off :) If you want to come work here, they turn on their Wi-Fi to the public from 11 am-3 pm ONLY, so have that in mind if you come work here. They do have restrooms for you to use. There's no food, only a few snacks and muffins. Can't wait for my next latte from Java Lava! read more

I don't really like Starbucks and if I was going to get a Starbucks it would be at the OG Starbucks in Seattle! Ok, but enough about Starbucks! The vanilla cappuccino I got here was divine! To pep us up for the remainder of a long trip home to Seattle, an Internet search for espresso led us to Lava Java. What a lucky break! The latte and mocha rivaled anything we'd had back home. The barista obviously knew his way around a La Marzocco machine...the espresso was rich and flavorful and the crema was especially excellent. Ordered an iced mocha, not bad - kinda on the sweet side. Maybe a little too sweet for my liking but nonetheless great for a hot day like today. Would've given a five star review if the customer service was there...When we walked in, there was all of 2 people in there. One may have been a worker or former employee just chatting away with the lady behind the counter about the schedule. Barista took our order and that was it. No other words were exchanged. I wanted to make eye contact with the barista to say "thank you" but she was quickly on her phone after making our drinks and chatting with the other female at the counter. Where to begin, if you're going to require a mask then you need to have a sign posted on your building somewhere. You don't tell someone to put a mask on after they get up to the counter. Also when you have three people standing in line and you have the employee standing behind the counter laughing telling jokes to another person for four or five minutes while other people are waiting in line it's time to hire someone else. Doesn't matter how good your coffee is if your customer service sucks. When you give a coffee Company three tries and every time you walk in there's an issue then it's time to go somewhere else... customer service should be your highest priority nothing else matters if you can't acknowledge your customers who are walking through the door. read more
