If I could give this company 80 I would. As you noticed they do not have very high ratings because they are AWFUL. Many expensive merchandise was stolen from me after I had showed them pictures of what I submitted for Restoration. I called and was told to submit a police report. They refused to investigate the situation and let me know what was going on. I've lost over $10,000 worth of merchandise. Please please please do not use this company you WILL get GOT!! After submitting pictures and my invoice of what I submitted they still refused that they had it or that they were going to compensate me for my merchandise that they left or gay to somebody else. After showing them my merchandise because I took pictures prior to going for Restoration, I was told just to file a police report! If you notice they do not have a Facebook page they do not have an Instagram page and they do not have a Twitter page, because they're fake and steal your merchandise! I have nothing but praise for the crew from this company that came out and packed up my stuff, moved it out, moved it back and unpacked when I experienced a water damage disaster. These guys specialize in helping people recover from fires, wind and water damage and other disasters. They work with insurance companies to do the cleanup or packing for those who must move out of their premises for reconstrucion. The project coordinator, Bobby, came over and assessed what needed to be done and scheduled the move Then he came over with his moving crew, headed by James and Roger, and a group of ladies, led by Gloria, who packed my stuff with efficiency and care. They were professional and efficient. I knew I was in good hands as soon as I met them. My stuff was packed up, labeled, and stored, and then moved back and unpacked (one has to get additional authorization from one;s insurance for the unpacking). It made the entire ordeal after the disaster much more bearable. read more

I can see why this company has the rating is has, I hired them to do restoration on my condo for water damage. I worked with Steve and Zach Laurens directly most of the time and everything seemed fine at first. But the quality of work performed was awful and rushed. When it came time to pay for services they were not willing to wait for payment from my insurance so I paid them directly with my credit card, then they got the checks from insurance and we agreed that they will pay me back for the overpayment. Needless to say they still owe me the refund in full and only gave me partial payment claiming that this is all they owe. I clearly showed them that I am not paying for services that were not rendered like painting a close that doesn't need to be paint and amongst other things. Zach Laurens and staff just gives the run around and now my lawyer is involved. Hope they like paying additional fees for that when they realize they are in the wrong. I wrote an honest review in July about the aggrevating experience we had with Laurens. Our basement flooded due to a faulty sump pump and carpet and drywall needed to be removed. They staff was really great, but they totally padded their bill. Note to future users, if they try to work overtime, get them out asap. The cost of their work to remove the carpet and drywall was more than the cost to put up new drywall and get new carpet. read more

We had water damage to our hardwood floor in our Condo and our insurance company sent our Laurens Restoration. They had to dry out the floor and sub-floor, then they had to replace an area of floor and sand and stain all the floors in the entire condo. This required a pack out and pack back in. Every person I dealt with was punctual, professional and communicated well with me. They got the project done on time and the condo was left spotless and with everything back in place. read more

Most of us are afraid of dealing with tradesmen and expect to be tricked/overpriced/oversold, etc. That is why after having the absolute opposite experience with Laurens, I felt I had to write a review. The project managers, David Weinheimer for mitigation, and Robert Ross for restoration, as well as Arthur, who headed the actual restoration along with another Robert, were all professional. Most importantly, they handled all components of the job well and at a reasonable cost. I contacted Servpro, who were nice enough on the phone, but I got the feeling the job was too small for the local rep to care about much. Paul Davis rep, came out and in short, attempted to fleece me. He quoted me a "cash" price in case I would not go through the insurance, repeatedly assuring me such a good price would not stand if we were to go through insurance. I would never post this except for the audacity: the price was more than twice what Laurens quoted me officially, to go through insurance, in an itemized bill, with a sketch of the damage area. Prior to getting the Paul Davis quote, David of Laurens told me that all the mitigation companies use the same program to price the project, so all should be relatively similar in price, leaving you to choose based on other factors. Laurens also has a restoration/construction side, so you can get all done in one place. The reconstruction was also quoted fairly. In fact, ASI, my homeowners insurance adjuster was impressed with Laurens honesty and prices. They ended up charging less for the mitigation than they initially quoted! Every company is the people that work there, and Laurens has top notch employees. read more

With water damage in our condo building recently, a number of us turned to Laurens and all had a good experience. HOWEVER - and this is a big HOWEVER - we remain extremely concerned about a disconcerting episode and Laurens lack of a response to what should also have been of great concern to them. We were having work done on the 1st and 3rd floors, and we have cameras in multiple spots in the building. Our residents on the first floor were not expecting Laurens on site on this particular day. Their work man arrived, and we have him on camera flipping up a number of doormats, looking for a spare key. He found one under a doormat for a unit on the other side of our building where there was no water damage and he was not doing work, He had no relationship with this resident or unit. He entered the apartment - and triggered the alarm. He then left the apartment, disappeared elsewhere into the building....as the police arrived to explore why the alarm was going off. Even if he had made an innocent mistake, one would think he would have stuck around to explain the misunderstanding or notified his boss. My neighbor was left with concern that her apartment had been broken into during broad daylight - with no explanation from anyone - but our video footage clearly shows someone from Laurens using the key and entering. She emailed Laurens multiple times asking why this happened and looking for some sort of answer or apology. Laurens has never answered. It made us all very uncomfortable, and their lack of responsiveness to this matter is what leads me to share this experience. She has since filed a police report for trespassing. That is no way to run a business - no response from Laurens when we tell them we have footage of their guy entering a unit where they are not doing work, setting off the alarm and summoning the police? read more

Laurens was truly terrible from beginning to end. We had water damage from a fire that occurred in a condo a few units above us. Laurens did a full pack-out and dry clean of some of our items. When Laurens returned our things, we received boxes filled with items that did not belong to us. They did not keep an inventory list so we have no idea if we got all of our belongings back from them, but it was disconcerting to receive items that did not belong to us. Laurens was also supposed to do a full unpack of all of our contents (and charged our insurance company accordingly), but they left more than 30 boxes fully untouched. In addition, when Laurens put our office furniture back together, they apparently lost some of the brackets holding up our book case shelves and just placed loose screws in the holes where the brackets should have gone. No one told us about the missing brackets, and we only discovered it when one of our shelves came crashing down. Finally, we were missing one of our rugs after our belongings were returned to us. Apparently, it was marked a "total loss," but Laurens conveniently forgot to tell us about the loss until we noticed the rug was missing. Overall, working with this company was a terrible experience, and I would recommend avoiding it. read more

(0) Zero stars would be more appropriate. I gave them a perfectly good sofa without any damage to it and a perfectly good area rug to clean prior to my move my new condo. I simply wanted them both to be cleaned to remove any dust to showcase in my bright, shiny condo. What they returned to me was appalling. The sofa was all mottled with wrinkled fabric, a different color and in horrible condition. They ruined it. The binding on the rug was exposed. Keith White, the general manager, visited and took pictures then arranged for a pick up and redo to eradicate the problems. Naturally, he told me that the person who cleaned the sofa was very experienced and that this had never happened before. They redid the sofa and rug but the problems persisted. When I asked Keith for compensation this is he told me, and I quote, 'Well, the sofa is 5 yrs. old, it had never been cleaned, what did you expect?" The audacity! As if the fact that it was 5 yrs. old and had never been cleaned had some special bearing on it's deplorable condition. What did I expect, Keith? Call me crazy, but I expected that if I gave you a perfectly good piece of furniture and rug, that I get them back in the same condition, only better....not worse. Do yourself a favor and use another company. Lauren's Restoration did a terrible job on my sofa and rug and isn't interested in customer satisfaction. read more

If you are a person who puts integrity #1 - do not use this company for renovations. Gerry Dubovik, the project manager for renovations, said he would get me a quote back in 3 days, I got it within 5 days. Said the job would be complete within 3 days, a week later, it still was not done. I put down a $4,600 deposit for a job, they completed $1,500 of it & quit because they were insufficient in City of Chicago licensing - still waiting to get my $3,100 back. Gerry told me he would work on issuing a final bill 11/25. Their office then said they would issue a refund and provide a final bill by 11/30, it's now 11/30 and no final bill nor refund received. If you like being lied to many times within a business dealing, sure, use these guys. Otherwise, use someone with better reviews. THIS REVIEW DOES NOT REFLECT THE WATER MITIGATION SIDE OF THE BUSINESS. GARY JONES HEADS THAT DEPT AND DOES A GREAT JOB AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. If I could I would give a negative star rating. Our condo was flooded from above and we needed to repair the ceiling, walls and floor. Bob from Laurens gave us an estimate. We had to go back and forth several times because things were left out and incorrect. The work took 2 weeks, they originally said would take a week. Three days before our scheduled move back in we noticed our laminate floor was incredibly uneven and notified Laurens. The day before moving back we met with Todd and his response was that we did not ask for the floor to be leveled. Are you kidding me!!! They are meant to be the "professionals". To make the matter worse before the work began we did question if the uneven concrete surface would cause a problem. Now that we are home we are noticing many more faults with workmanship. We are currently disputing everything with Laurens. They keep coming back to the fact that we didn't ask for the floor to be leveled... They are a joke of a business. NEVER USE THEM!!! read more

If I could give this company ZERO STARS I would. After a garage fire in September that took down our entire garage & inflicted a substantial amount of damage to my home, we called Lauren's Restoration to help with the clean up and rebuild. Let me tell you, it is now December and NOT ONE THING has been done. Gerry Dubovik is a joke. Hardly ever picks up the phone, takes forever to return phone calls if they get returned at all, and pushed off the work of communicating with the insurance agent to me. He also blames lack of communication on "his email" claiming emails were sent when no one received them. I felt like I was babysitting someone who should have been doing work for me. Multiple requests were made to begin some sort of work and I was promised a completed project by Christmas. Again, let me say it is December 9 and NOT ONE repair has been done from a fire that occurred Labor Day weaken. Please do not waste your time dealing with these people in a time where minimal stress is needed. I regret wasting almost 4 months of my time with them as every neighbor around me has their work completed already. STAY AWAY from these people. I've let them go, doubt they will notice as they did nothing anyways. I'm betting the "positive" results were written by their friends or workers. Can not see how anyone can have a positive experience with this group when ours was beyond terrible. read more
