Walked to the bakery to buy a loaf of sourdough bread. We clearly saw 2 loaves in the case, and we asked if we could have one and the guy after waiving at him, as he was engrossed in a conversation with 3 other employees, said NO! We were like, what?! Of course I had to try one of their smoothies. It's the hot new grocery store in town giving Erewhon a run for their money. And I have to say I'm impressed! The selection is top tier, there is much more space to browse the aisles without being bumped into a thousand times while deciding which bovine colostrum to purchase. And the smoothies are NOT $20! I've been hearing a lot about this spot since people say it's a competitor to Erewhon, so I had to check it out. I happened to be in the area, saw it pop up on my map, and decided to stop in. This place is known for carrying a lot of high-end health and organic products that you normally won't find at your average grocery store. They also have a cafe with coffee, smoothies, juices, and prepared foods, so it's a nice spot if you're looking for a quick healthy lunch. I had just eaten not too long before, but I couldn't pass up a slice of their organic wood-fired pizza. I ended up getting the sausage slice for about $8. It was really good with a nice crispy crust and quality ingredients. Definitely on the pricier side, but that's pretty much what you'd expect from a place like this. Overall, I enjoyed my visit. I have always resented Erewhon locations for the fact that they charge premium prices while looking like some garden shed. Laurel Supply is definitely an experience to come for a bit of a walking around and do some people watching. That's where it stops though. Why three stars? Food quality it's very bland and tasteless. We tried multiple dishes. Nothing was good. The prices are similar to Erewhon. With $30-$35 per pound you will end up paying about $80 bucks for lunch for two while eating with plastic forks out of paper containers and it's just not satisfying. Been waiting to visit this place for sure given my IG algorithm just kept leading me there with tons of posts about it, from visitors, vendors, all the influencers, name it! Obviously not a few mentioning it being _R_whon dupe. Having been there, I could confidently say I love their design even way better than the contender, offering good balance of clean, chic, and contemporary concept. Very well-lit with tons of natural lighting, feels like way more space to move with wider alleys, and huge dine-in space with also sizable outdoor patio in front. Besides the retail section, they did offer similar ready-to-consume meals including Hot Food bar, sushi, made-to-order pizza and smoothies, coffee and tea, as well as bakery. As expected, being very new, line's pretty long and very busy on weekends especially for the hot food bar. I didn't have a chance to try anything there, other than buying some snacks from the retail store. I'd say what they offer from the retail store are relatively bit different, with many local small business products seem to be featured as well. Will certainly make a come back for their hot food bar once the hype kinda tone down a bit. read more

A friend of mine is a chef here so some other friends and I decided to come visit her and check out the place! We came on a Wednesday around 12:30 pm. They have their own parking lot behind the building with an attendant that shows you where to park. It's not a big lot so spots can fill up quick but there's also street parking all around. Parking in the lot is for customers only with a 45 minute time limit. The spaces are also a bit small and my friend's car got dinged by the car next to us so park at your own risk! I know everyone can't help but compare this place to Erewhon but if you can see them separately in your mind your experience here will be a lot better lol The interior is super warm and welcoming and was designed beautifully. Most, if not all, of their products and offerings are cheaper than Erewhon. Besides the tonic bar and hot bar they also have a sushi bar, wood stone pizza oven, bakery, and a pasta bar coming soon. The pizza slices they offer are actually huge. It's a fourth of an entire pizza and is only $8. It also comes with a side of red pepper flakes and Parmesan. The vodka meatball was so good. We also got a combo meal from the hot bar and a sushi combo from the sushi bar. The orange chicken and broccoli salad from the hot bar were fantastic. The fish on the sushi was good but the rice was too soft. I believe the combo meal came out to just under $25 and the sushi combo was $20. We also got some drinks and cookies from the tonic bar. Cookies were a good size for $4 each and the matcha white chocolate one was amazing. The banana cream matcha latte was $7 and worth it as well. I made sure I kept am open mind when I walked into Laurel Supply. And so I did. Located next to Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood, Laurel Supply market was supposed to rival that of none other than Erewhon. However, an employee stated to me that Laurel Supply stood on its own without any comparison...Hmmmmm... When you first walk in, you noticed the beautiful use of space. The ambience is light and airy. I like the architecture and the wood design throughout. It gives a log cabin food market vibe which I kind of actually like!!! But as you start to notice small details with everything else, it becomes noticeable that we've seen all this before... The signage is that like Erewhon for the hit food bar and the shelves. Maybe that how new signage is for food markets now? I don't know, but it's suspect. The items at the hot food bar left much to be desired. It did catch me off guard that they put corn starch in their fried rice! (It was listed as an ingredient)... Now I WILL say that their pizza is, in my opinion, better than Erewhon's. I can't speak on the juice bar. I will have to go back to get something, and I will report back with a follow up on that. The health care supplement section wasn't really that big, and the brands they had was a hit or miss, but for the most part not the well known skincare and health products we know and love. I am in that space as a content creator, so I know a lot about those type of brands big and small. As far as customer service...you have the managers or leads dressed up in suits and slacks...That is a nice touch, but for a food market it may be over doing it. I do have one big noticeable observation...I did not see any black or brown people working there. I mean ZERO. I am talking about Latinas and Blacks. If they were working they were out of plain sight. So what is the deal with that? I am going to go off on a whimsical guess and say MAYBE they weren't working on day 1 of opening the store??? It's just strange... Again, when I go back for the juice/smoothie bar maybe I will notice and see it then. Another couple of observations....Laurel Supply has more sweet based items whereas Erewhon has more health type foods for snacks....Laurel Supply has about the same space outside to enjoy eating your food or socializing.... NOW...there is one drink that I am obsessed with that Erewhon doesn't have that Laurel Supply does!!!...It's a kombucha drink called Alive & Well. I definitely will be coming back just for that drink! (It's so good!)... Now, I will be back. This was just on grand opening day (mind you they actually were supposed to be open the day before, and they left a sign saying to come back the next day)... Maybe things will be different when I return. Sometimes you need a little while to get the "well oiled machine" so to speak. After all this is a new store of its kind und this name. I like seeing a new high end grocery style store in West Hollywood. I do wonder if the location will succeed because of Whole Foods, Erewhon and Gelson's. i didn't mention Trader Joe's because it's a great store for value on many staple items. My favorite store is by far Bristol Farms on Robertson. The store and staff are great. The design is simple, but very nice. The colors used are natural and inviting. I don't really know if West Hollywood needs another high-end grocery store. It does concern me for the lack of parking here along with the sprouts that went away because they had the same issue parking and no customers. I'm giving them five stars because of the quality of the store, the merchandise and the staff. In the long run, I don't see anything different here than any of the other stores in the area. Finally checked out our new neighborhood grocery store and was unfortunately disappointed. The actual grocery section is incredibly tiny and, although cheaper than Erewhon, much more expensive than your average grocery store. Whether they'll admit it or not, it seems that they are entirely taking inspiration from Ara, Juan, including their signature smoothies, pizzas, and hot plate section. We went for a slice of the vodka meatball pizza, which was very generously sized and tasted pretty good. We also ordered a hot plate - selecting the mac & cheese, Greek salad, and short ribs. The short ribs were incredibly dry, and the seasoning is not what I would've guessed for "Korean" flavors. As for the Greek salad, no Greek seasoning or otherwise was detected. We also picked up one of the premade Nigiri selections, which were... Bland. It genuinely just felt like a social experiment, as everyone in there was photographing the shelves, ceiling, walls, etc., rather than actually shopping. Also just feels incredibly wrong seeing the high-end grocery store juxtaposed against the shut down IHOP with homeless individuals loitering outside. Checking out Erewhon's completion on a Friday afternoon. Surprisingly, I was able to find a meter a block away and the posted sign on the meter stated that it was free due to the Memorial weekend holiday. Walking up to the grocery store, there were many people sitting out front enjoying their meals and smoothies from inside. The outdoor structure reminded me of the in town square stores you'd find in Mammoth, or other snow towns. Upon entering the registers are in front, and all of the staff are wearing chef coats as their uniforms. The sections and aisles are a lot wider and the middle coffee and smoothie area has seating as well. There is a prepared sushi section, hot and cold food section as well. They have produce, dry goods, snacks, candies, as well as a larger wine and alcohol section and beauty care section. Many of the brands are similar to Erewhon with a soup station by the hot food. Some things they could improve on is putting of things are vegan or vegetarian and the ingredients for the hot and cold stations. Erewhon is good about doing this, the place is fully staffed, but you can tell since the store is new that many of the staff were not yet familiar with the products. I purchased some snacks as well as the mac and cheese from the hot station and a couple of salads, Overall, the prices were not they much different. It's pretty. It's overpriced. It's impractical. It has nice outdoor seating. I did try the sushi bar - and the rice was hard as a rock - and this was week 2 of them being open. Fish was just ok - definitely grocery store quality sushi, but not as bad as Whole Foods sushi. It's just like Erewhon, which is not customer friendly on the pockets in this economy. Came by for lunch as I'm bought into the luxury market trend. I was delighted to see they have a small parking lot behind the premise. I don't buy groceries from these places, but they make a great lunch spot. I ordered 1 yellowtail and 1 salmon nigiri. For the price, you still aren't hitting the premium price for higher grade sushi, but you'd expect these to be decent considering the still yet higher price point. The rice here was definitely subpar compared to what I'm used to in a typical sushi joint. The salmon was definitely the fresher cut here and was good. I also ordered from the hot bar. I got the orange beet salad, which looks like a mix of all things orange, consisting of orange fruit and orange beets. These were really delicious as they were beautifully presented. The sticky tofu felt quite colossal to sink my teeth into. And these were definitely good. The Korean short ribs was the real showstopper here. The miso cod is excellent and the fish/sushi does seem less sticky than Erewhon. Notably the salmon is fresher. The salmon soba salad at Laurel Supply makes the Erewhon salmon taste like a tougher meat than a fish. A GREAT option in West Hollywood. The new Erewhon on Santa Monica is good--it's just easy to get tired of food if you have it all the time. So: enjoy both as you are free to do. read more

It's like Jeff bezos and musk had a bunch of embryonic babies that never saw a warehouse or a grocery store but had the audacity to charge you $15 for an ugly banana pie.
