I was drawn in by their classic sophisticated logos in the windows of their corner location.
The spaced looked open and welcoming - so even though my sandwich was getting cold I decided to pop-in a check it out. Always nice to find a new owner/operated coffee shop (I believe they've only been open for a few months). It's a simple straight-up no major unnecessary frills cafe with a chalkboard menu of a variety of coffees (I was told their two specialties or perhaps most popular are their cappuccino and latte).
I haven't tried the coffee yet, but what did catch my eye were the baked goods in individual glass jars: croissants, pain au chocolates/chocolatines and raisin danish. I ended up getting a pain au chocolate and danish to-go. Without even having to ask, I was offered them individually bagged, which I thought was a nice touch and came in handy (since one was for the next day's breakfast).
The highlight of the two was the raisin danish (usually the raisins are dry and this one was filled with a bunch of moist ones and the dough was quite buttery, not much if any cinnamon, but still a fine example). Such a pleasure. Since I ate the other the next morning I won't say much as it was probably fresher the day before. More of a reason to come first thing which at the moment is 9am. Seems they are doing the 7 days a week 9am-5pm classic hours, which you don't see as often these days (meaning many places open earlier and/or close later).
So overall a nice and sweet (sort-of-a-pun-intended) spot; both in terms of opening hours, selection of coffees, welcoming ambiance and pleasant entrepreneurial owner/operator.
Asides/notes; Their prices appear to be very fair. They re-opened their seating area on July 1st. The five is mainly for the little things that all add up. If their coffee turns out to be less than par can mention such in an update, but doubt it would take anything away from their welcome, humble and respectful vibe. read more
