I have always wanted to do afternoon tea. My friend found this place and I have to say it was amazing. Before you go to your table you pick a hat. There's so many hats to choose from, classy and elegant to extreme and funny. I finally landed on a floppy pink hat. The iced dragon fruit tea was so good we bought some in the gift shop. I enjoyed the light food, made summer really feel like it was in Columbia. I hope to come back again in the spring sometime and do this again. It was just so much fun. read more

Had a delightful lunch with a friend yesterday in Laura's Deli downstairs. The food was delicious. I had the well recommended Chicken Salad sandwich with a side of coleslaw, while my friend tried the Cuban. The Tea - simply fabulous! So many wonderful options to choose from! She went with the tried & true Earl Grey, while I tried the Lady Londonberry (strawberry & lemon flavors). We both splurged a little with the Italian Cream Cake. The atmosphere and staff VERY warm & enviting! I very much liked the option of not having to fancy up to savor a beautiful afternoon and a wonderful pot of tea! I also look forward to having an an occasion to gather with people I love and primp for the full treatment of a High Tea. I think I will be making the trip to perk myself up periodically. They are just off of 77 a small way and pretty easy to find. They also have a small selection of specialty coffee beans. One of the lady's in a nearby shop recommended them for coffee as being the best option in town. In fact the window fronts feature a Tea theme on the left and a Coffee theme on the right. There is also tea related things for sale. My only criticism would be that a few of the shop items appeared a bit overpriced. But if you find what you want and don't mind the extra, then so be it. There is no parking lot, only parking on the street, but it does not appear to be difficult to find a spot. Beautiful, charming little town. A couple of interesting shops. I loved this place! The courses were well spaced out, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious! They had an extensive selection of teas and they made you feel very welcome. It wasn't pretentious at all. The decor was cool and they had a wide variety of things you could buy in the shop. I loved the salad, the scones, and the cucumber sandwiches were awesome. I have been here a couple of times and always look forward to going again. The service is amazing and the food superb. One friend said it was worth the drive and putting on a dress, panty hose and a hat! Their selections of hats is fabulous. The last time we went, it was raining and left my hat in the car, but found one that was just right. This is not a race in and out place. You will want to take your time and enjoy the food and the ambiance. From choosing your hat and then your tea cup, it is a relaxing and wonderful girl trip. You will have a daily ice tea and then a choice of many hot or ice tea. For those who require decaf, they have those as well. They have delicious sandwiches, scones and desserts. We had a great girls outing here. Upstairs was booked for high tea so we'll have to try that next time. We ate in the cafe and still got to try some of the teas. We each ordered lunch ranging from soup to sandwiches and salads. And we ordered 3 medium sized tea pots of hot tea for the table, each with a different flavor. That was the perfect amount for our party of 6. The flavors we tried were Lemon chiffon cake, Honey Mango, and Ginger Peach. I liked all 3. But since I favor stronger tea I think I'll go for more black teas next time. We took a peek upstairs where the tables were set more formal and you get to choose your own tea cup - so cute. Laura's Tea Room was such a wonderful experience. As it was my first time at a tea room, I had no idea what to expect, but the folks at Laura's made everything as wonderful as it could be! The downstairs café, though we didn't eat there, looked fantastic. I could see that there were many lunch menu items along with plenty of tea selections. We made reservations for high tea at 12:30. Our party of 4 arrived at Laura's just a few minutes before our scheduled reservation and we were promptly seated after the great fun we had picking out our "tea hats" and beautiful tea cups with saucers and gold or silver spoons. The house selection of iced tea was sublime, as well as the hot "Be Merry" festive house selection. We were then allowed to choose one hot tea for our whole party to enjoy. The selection from which we were allowed to choose was enormous! The salad and tomato basil bisque following our absolutely delectable scone was very light and fresh. The third course of savories and sweets was perfectly designed and delicious. This whole experience was so much fun and I can't wait to go back. The servers were so kind and knowledgable and the atmosphere of the whole place was open and bright. I could recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys a fine selection of tea with a wonderful light lunch! If I had to make one comment, I would say a larger selection of mens hats would be nice! read more

We have been to the tea room a few times and the service has been slow but yesterday they were busy and had a large party and we were told that it could take a while for our order to arrive due to the large party. Well 30 minutes is a while but it took over an hour for our order to arrive, this is an area they need to work on. Even the two ladies working the floor were concerned on how long we were waiting. Also the croissant for the chicken salad sandwich was stale. Not sure if we intend to return for another meal. read more

I agree with everything that Angie put in so much detail. I am a male, and every time my wife and I go there we are never disappointed. I even found a white hat that made me look like a Mississippi gambler. Fun!! I did however suggest to the hostess that if there were some "men's hats" maybe the men would want to come also, as some guys would just think it's a "chick thing" and not want to go. Guys, try it, you will like it! Now, for just "lunch" downstair will feed you more regular fare, and for the non tea lover, I am sure you could get coffee. But upstairs, the century old tradition, "High Tea" is just tea and no substitutions, because people coming to this want to have it as it was centuries ago. read more

This is one of my favorite stops for a quick lunch. The food is great, the staff is friendly. I have only been on the first floor burt everyone raves about the "tea" floor (upstairs). The owner Carol goes out of her way to make sure everyone is taken care of in a timely manner. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a boutique experience. read more

The tea itself is very nice, if you're into that sort of thing (I'm a coffee drinker so maybe I don't adequately appreciate it). I am a "local" and have been twice with church groups, but otherwise I wouldn't have paid $25 for a lunch that probably cost less than $5 to prepare. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not angry (visit their website and you'll know what to expect, and the second time I did), and I get what they're trying to offer in terms of atmosphere and service -- but it is way, way overpriced. In fact, I can't imagine a scenario in which I would be willing to go again, especially if I had to pay for myself. Once again, I understand the concept -- it's a leisurely, elegant tea, not a meal, they're giving you time to visit with your companions and enjoy whole pots of tea, but it takes at least 2 1/2 hours to complete the "High Tea" and that is just too long. I had to eat a substantial snack as soon as I got home just to make it to dinner. read more
