This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. Upside, there's 3 tables if you want to kau kau as well! Hoalauna Community Park hits all the aspects you'd want for everyone! Let me tell you, it's a "ONE STOP SHOP"!

There is also a ginormous grassy area that can be great to let your little ones one freely without getting too close to the road. One downside to the park; there isn't much shade. Aside from the minimal tree shade, and the shade from the umbrella partially covering the playground, there's not much to work with. Fixable by bringing your own umbrella (: We love this park! Mahalo to the previous yelper who mentioned that they allow parties here (with a permit). I'll definitely be looking into that for future events!

There's always a nice mix of people from all over the island who come to visit--many even call it the "Fruit Park" or "Apple Park." For us, it's extra special because it's right across the street from our home, making it so convenient to enjoy. The park is well maintained weekly through our community fees, and the trees here are amazing--the ulu provides food, and the puakenikeni blossoms are perfect for making lei. We've even been able to spread a few lauhala seeds, adding to the natural beauty. Konane Park is truly a gathering place that reflects the spirit of Ho'opili.

There is no public restroom and it's not as big as I'd like it to be for this area. There is so much room surrounding the fenced in area but not a lot of actual room for the dogs. There's a mini parking area nearby, with some street parking around the community. Every where is walking distance. We can even just park at home and walk. I love how the times I have taken my boys, they usually get the whole park to themselves along with a couple other friends. This is a huge gated field. There is a small area for the smaller dogs and the bigger area for the big dogs. There's 3 trash cans on the far sides of the park in the big area. There's 1 trash can near the middle of the small dog park area. I would suggest a trash can near an exit but the smell would be horrid. This dog park also has 5 mango trees nearby.

The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

However, it's a huge space on the big dog side with an unbeatable view and there are plenty of smells to keep your pup entertained. I generally try to go early morning or early evening since it's very hot and there is very little shade here. Overall, it does what it needs to do and is very convenient if you're already on Ford Island.

Ford Island Dog Park is located on Ford Island naval base, which requires a valid Military/DoD ID to enter. The park is conveniently situated across the street from the Navy Lodge, which is also dog-friendly. So pets from the base, the lodge, and off-base are all welcome to play here. The section for large dogs is very spacious and it overlooks Pearl Harbor - a super view with a nice ocean breeze! The adjacent section for small dogs unfortunately doesn't have the view, but provides enough space for the little ones to get some exercise. The large section has three park benches for humans and a fire hydrant in the middle for the fellas. Maintenance on the grass seems pretty regular. Coverage is pretty dense, but when it hasn't rained for a while, it can get pretty dry and crunchy. The waiting pen is fairly huge too, a good size for more than one dog and even a stroller. My fur baby uses this area to rev up her engine because she's been so ready for the races after being couped up in the house. This is also the only section with a tree, which provides a nice shady area. The downside is the grounds that surround the tree are barren, so it can get messy with the red dirt as soon as the dogs are released into the main park. As mentioned above, bring your own water. Apparently, one of the water pipes has/had a leak, so the fountains do not work. Trash bins are available, but no bags for the Pee Oh Oh Pee. As with any other dog park, friendly is not guaranteed. So, be prepared to pull your dog away when necessary.
