We usually go to the hawaii kai dog park to bring our fur baby. But now that we live on the west side, decided to check this place out. Overall it's okay, their are two areas of the park, one for smaller dogs and the other for bigger dogs which is more spacious. My only wish was to have more trees planted on both areas and benches too so that we can sit and not just stand in the HOT sun. I would come back late afternoon when the sun goes down.

Pick up your poop I've been too a few dog parks but this one is the best so far. Forget the fact that it's walking distance from home. This dog park is just one big fenced area cut equality in half. One for the midget dogs and the other side for the Cujos (30lbs and bigger). I know you've seen that movie. There's one entrance for each half using the two gate system. One big draw back I have with this place is the poop bag dispenser is outside the fenced area. Most people have their bags attached to their pet's leash but the trash can is next to the bag dispenser!! Now I've taken crap from work (get it) but I hate taking crap from the dog and walking out the park to the trash can. Everyone at the park is friendly and so are the dogs. It seems everyone was sniffing butts. I just shook everyone's hand. The area is open sunrise to sunset and that's fine since the lighting is really poor. And if you wear open toe shoes, What the heck are you thinking?!?!?!? Overall four stars. Huge play area for your furry friend. Not five because of the location of the trash cans. Now excuse me, it's getting dark and I have to find....ahhh crap!!!! M

We haven't been here in a while but today was the perfect day to take our "kids" out to play. There are four new "baby" trees on property now with one that looks like it's dying of thirst. The park is sparse with a few areas that lack grass, I am assuming that there has been very little maintenance here. The grass definitely needs watering and the trees need tending to before they die. It's a fairly big dog park but not much to keep the dogs interested in playing. For the first time in two years our "kids" actually got to meet and play with Chico (a ptibull/terrier mix). They had a good time chasing each other but without obstacles and shade trees their play time was short lived. There was a huge basin for water which neither of the dogs wanted to drink from. Note to self to bring my dogs their own bowl and water next time we go to this park. There are many cared for dogs in the Ewa Gentry area and it's a shame that this beautiful park is not maintained any better. How about larger shade trees versus saplings that will take a long while to grow into some sort of shade? Or perhaps install a sprinkler system to assure that our "kids" play in grass versus red dirt. After a romp at the park, the "kids" were filthy with red dirt so it was a trip to Petco thereafter for a quick bath. Overall still a decent play space for our "kids" but it needs more than a fenced in area to appeal to both "kids" and parents.

This dog park is the closest to Makakilo and we use to love coming here before we recently moved. Pros: Friendly Pets (a few that were aggressive, but not too bad) Water A lot of dogs during 7am to 8am and 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Big space Secure A lot of bully breeds (I have two mixes and usually other bully breeds have the same temperament as they do. My girl has so much energy.) Cons: Some dog owners need to learn how to pick up after theirs dogs and to control their dogs Stealing toys Not enough seating places and trees Overall, we miss this place. It's hard finding a good dog park in town with those who welcome bully breeds.

Gunner (my dog) loves going to the 30 lbs and under dog park at about 5:30 pm 3-5 times a week! We have been going for about 7 months now and the other dogs and owners are now our friends! The crowd can range from 5-10 dogs around 5:30-sunset so beware if your dog is antisocial. Be sure to bring poop bags, water and a folding chairs very limited seating. Wear bug spray because lots of gnats if moisture in the air. The grass is fairly well kept. Beware of unsupervised children coming in and out of the dog park! They want to play with the dogs but, gates have been left open and dogs have gotten out. Twice I have witnessed this happen. Both times it wa unsupervised children.

This dog park is split into two- small dogs (less than 30lbs) and large dogs (greater than 30lbs). I have been on both sides and can say that both sides are spacious. There are toys and water bowls left by others near the water stations on both sides. However, there are only 2 benches on each sides, very little shade, and some owners who don't pick up after their dogs. It is busiest from 5pm to sunset.

Ewa Beach dog park is one those Friendly dog environment for small and big dogs which is divided into two fences. Our litto gal Mixhiko is always happy when she comes here. We met cute dogs today and their owner super nice too! A time to relax, sir back, enjoy the nice view especially on a clear blue sky afternoon. Our Mixhiko loves it here and in town side too.

My dog Eevie is a regular at this dog park, for the most part it's clean and fairly well maintained by the association, but every now and then you'll have owners come in and neglect picking up their dog'a poop. The regular dogs/owners that come by often are great and their dogs are friendly/well behaved, it's the ones that don't go to the parks often or owners not watching their dogs you should be wary off. I definitely wouldn't recommend bringing a puppy here who hasn't finished their parvo series just because of the amount of dogs that go through this place. Otherwise my dog is happy when she goes here and the regulars that come here are awesome. Just also wish there was more benches and the best time to come is 5pm/sunset. Came here in the middle of the day and it's just too dang hot. Don't expect other dogs to be there outside the evening.

Some shit left behind by an inconsiderate dog owner/parent.

This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. Upside, there's 3 tables if you want to kau kau as well! Hoalauna Community Park hits all the aspects you'd want for everyone! Let me tell you, it's a "ONE STOP SHOP"!

There is also a ginormous grassy area that can be great to let your little ones one freely without getting too close to the road. One downside to the park; there isn't much shade. Aside from the minimal tree shade, and the shade from the umbrella partially covering the playground, there's not much to work with. Fixable by bringing your own umbrella (: We love this park! The path is paved, wide, and stroller/ tricycle/ scooter-friendly, so it works well for both adults and kids. The whole place has a calm, welcoming vibe. There are enough people around that it doesn't feel empty, but never crowded. There are several playgrounds scattered along the loop, which makes them great "pit stops" if you're there with kids. The playgrounds aren't brand new, but they're in decent condition and set on rubber flooring. They're perfect for active toddlers and slightly older kids. Our two-year-old can enjoy the slides and smaller features without it feeling overwhelming or dangerous. The only thing I wish is that there were a few more benches near the playgrounds for parents to sit and relax. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of trees providing shade and greenery that stays fresh even in the hotter months. Lately, the flowering trees have been blooming with pinkish-yellow blossoms. There are also picnic tables and restrooms available (didn't check the restrooms personally, but they're there).

Ford Island Dog Park is located on Ford Island naval base, which requires a valid Military/DoD ID to enter. The park is conveniently situated across the street from the Navy Lodge, which is also dog-friendly. So pets from the base, the lodge, and off-base are all welcome to play here. The section for large dogs is very spacious and it overlooks Pearl Harbor - a super view with a nice ocean breeze! The adjacent section for small dogs unfortunately doesn't have the view, but provides enough space for the little ones to get some exercise. The large section has three park benches for humans and a fire hydrant in the middle for the fellas. Maintenance on the grass seems pretty regular. Coverage is pretty dense, but when it hasn't rained for a while, it can get pretty dry and crunchy. The waiting pen is fairly huge too, a good size for more than one dog and even a stroller. My fur baby uses this area to rev up her engine because she's been so ready for the races after being couped up in the house. This is also the only section with a tree, which provides a nice shady area. The downside is the grounds that surround the tree are barren, so it can get messy with the red dirt as soon as the dogs are released into the main park. As mentioned above, bring your own water. Apparently, one of the water pipes has/had a leak, so the fountains do not work. Trash bins are available, but no bags for the Pee Oh Oh Pee. As with any other dog park, friendly is not guaranteed. So, be prepared to pull your dog away when necessary.
