There's always a nice mix of people from all over the island who come to visit--many even call it the "Fruit Park" or "Apple Park." For us, it's extra special because it's right across the street from our home, making it so convenient to enjoy. The park is well maintained weekly through our community fees, and the trees here are amazing--the ulu provides food, and the puakenikeni blossoms are perfect for making lei. We've even been able to spread a few lauhala seeds, adding to the natural beauty. Konane Park is truly a gathering place that reflects the spirit of Ho'opili.

There is a small area for the smaller dogs and the bigger area for the big dogs. There's 3 trash cans on the far sides of the park in the big area. There's 1 trash can near the middle of the small dog park area. I would suggest a trash can near an exit but the smell would be horrid. This dog park also has 5 mango trees nearby.

This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. We took notice of its soft opening on January 31, 2020, as we were just next door at the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park while out on our daily walk. We returned on February 7th to watch its Grand Opening ceremony. Secondly, I wondered about how this off-leash dog park would accommodate different sized dogs and energy levels (much like how the Mother Waldron Park separates children's' activities from the older junior ages and adults) since this dog park is nearly 8,000 square foot swath of land in between Mother Waldron Park's basketball courts and the walkway by Fisher Hawaii on Pohukaina Street. The rectangular-shaped dog park doesn't have a water fountain or separate areas for small or large dogs. Social distancing between humans is encouraged and maybe even between the furry friends (just in case of possible animal transmission). There are prickly weeds that grow around the back and sides. Since it's a sand playground, you can't see the loose prickly pieces and both my daughter and I got poked. It did look like a lot of fun for the other older kids and we'll probably try when my kids are a bit older so hopefully they'll do some landscaping on the weeds by then. We also saw a few kids spitting water in the sand and making spit-water sand balls. Gross.
