I originally contacted Travis based on his reviews on Yelp. a source I have come to rely upon. I…read moreonly had a small job I thought, replace a bathroom type ceiling exhaust fan that was in the laundry room of the house I had just recently bought. A malfunctioning exhaust fan is an odd problem to handle because electricians don't want to deal with duct work or anything they consider HVAC and HVAC people want to work on/replace furnaces or air conditioners not exhaust fans. Through Yelp I found and contacted Travis at Handyman Plus. He made an appointment and showed up right on time. The "broken" exhaust fan was not actually broken it turns out, nor was the switch which seemed to do nothing. It's a type of continuous running whole house exhaust fan unlike anything I had seen before. The wall switch which appeared like it might be broken wasn't it's just the way this fan operates. Travis got me all the information I needed to look up this fan and learn how to use it. A few weeks later I had a medicine cabinet I wanted installed in our master bathroom. As the wall area to be opened also housed the electric line to an outlet I asked Tarvis to do the installation. Again this was a small job, not the scale of work sought by many people in an up economy. Travis made an appointment, texted me when he was on his way and did an excellent job installing my cabinet; without hitting the power line or electrocuting himself. I'm really pleased with the work but more pleased overall with Travis of Handyman Plus. He is professional, thorough, capable and resourceful. I would not hesitate to call him for much larger jobs.

The ethic seems to be around upselling, making sales so they can go to the sales gathering in Hawaii, that sort of thing. I called for service of the backup battery...and $2000 later, I have a new this and that, except now, neither light on the opener comes on, so I drive into my garage in the dark. I have less functionality than before I called for service. The friendly sell-me-everything-in-the-truck guy became quite snarly when I called him back to look at the (now worse) opener lights. Yep, the guy put in writing that I need a new opener (another $1500), and yep, I was stupid in listening to the fast talk for how the new springs and bearings would make everything work better. But when the opener finally goes, I will be calling anyone but these people.

The installation tech was amazing: skilled, efficient and respectful of my property, leaving the job site clean. The door itself functions very well with features that exceeded my expectations: battery back-up for power outages is on top of my list, but other small conveniences such as the automatic overhead light (which my cat appreciates) and its smooth and quiet motor. I can't say enough about A-Team Garage Doors. We had gotten a couple of quotes from the 'larger…read morebrand companies' and put the project on hold based on the prices we were quoted. Then we found A-Team when our opener broke, and the person that came out for repair suggested we have them quote the doors. When I got the quote, I was very skeptical. The price for doors of the same visual style was 50% less than the other quotes I had. I then did a side by side comparison of the door quality, and the thickness, backing/build and r value were all better on the A-Team doors. We pulled the trigger and were quoted 6 weeks. 6 weeks later - almost to the day - the doors were delivered to A-Team, and they were ready to install them immediately. They came out that day and installed both doors in a matter of hours. These were not cheap doors - and we were in-part paying for style... faux wood metal doors with window panes and proper insulation ruggedness for 8,200 feet. One of my biggest concerns was whether they would look like wood or would the pattern repeat and be obvious. Not only did they look great to my eye, but I just got the best compliment from my neighbor who asked, are those wood doors? Just what I wanted to hear! A-Team truly are just that.
