Boulder Garage Door had excellent service at a reasonable price. The technician responded to my first call very quickly and thoroughly went over my needs and wants. He even helped fix a broken part right on the spot so that I was assured my old door would "stay alive" until the installation. This extra service during just a sales call was incredibly nice and appreciated. I've had my new door for about six weeks now and - seriously - I rarely leave reviews but I am simply so happy with this door. The installation tech was amazing: skilled, efficient and respectful of my property, leaving the job site clean. The door itself functions very well with features that exceeded my expectations: battery back-up for power outages is on top of my list, but other small conveniences such as the automatic overhead light (which my cat appreciates) and its smooth and quiet motor. I do not recommend Boulder Garage Door. They were a no-show after scheduling an appointment between 10-2 on a Saturday. When scheduling the appointment, I was told that I would receive a call when the technician was on the way. I did not receive a call, but a text asking me to call them. The first time I called, I was unsuccessful in reaching someone. I reached someone the second time I called one hour later after receiving the text. Though I called within the 10 to 2 window to confirm a technician was still coming, I was told because they could not reach me one hour earlier, they needed to reschedule. After wasting much of my Saturday, they blamed their scheduling screwup on me. I recommend using a more reliable company as they are unprofessional. read more

I believe the technicians get a bonus for 5 star reviews. In July BGD told me I needed new springs, rollers, and motor replacement. I paid $2500.00 for the repair. One month later the door stopped working. A different technician from BGD indicated that it was a simple adjustment to the springs. 9 months after the original installation the door stopped working. The technician dispatched explained that it would cost $200.00 to repair. I explained my disappointment with having to pay a $200 repair within a year of a replacement of major parts. The tech agreed to a lower price, began the work and then explained the springs installed in July were incorrect for the door. For nearly a year I have had a new ($1500.00) motor straining to operate the door. As a result I have very little confidence in the training of their technicians and their quality process. read more

The garage door closes as we backed up the car. So the frame of the garage door was slightly bent at the bottom. Went on to Yelp to get some estimates. Boulder Garage Door was the first few ones who responded within 15 minutes. They were able to sent someone out within two hours of responding. I was very impressed with our technician Nick. He was thorough and explained what needed to be fixed. Another company quoted me to replace the whole door but Nick says he can fixed the door plus service the opener too. The estimate provided was very fair and I am thrilled for not having to replace the garage door which would be very expensive. Nick completed the job in two hours. Not only he fixed the one garage door, he ended up fixing my second door too which had issues with not able to close properly. Zero stars would be more appropriate. The company is incompetent, unprofessional, and not a locally owned company as represented. They have missed multiple appointments, lied, failed to correct damage to our house, and left us with a door installed that is a safety hazard. Failed to respond to BBB complaint and has made promises to remedy the issues they caused in writing but never follows through. Left our garage with screws hanging out, damaged our ceiling, their own panel, and their "clean up crew" said the team that installed the door didn't know what they were doing. The door is dangerous with multiple screws popped out and unremedied damage to the door caused by their poor installation. Do not do business with this company, they aren't capable of doing work at even a layman's level. The call center is incompetent, lying about arrival times, and fails to provide details to the teams so they arrive without even the ability to fix the issues they left. 4 appointments were missed entirely, 6 visits and we still have a door that is barely hung and damage to our house from this company. The spring on my garage door broke last week. I had used Boulder Garage Door in the distant past, so I called them again, only to find out that the ownership had changed. I was a little skeptical, but since they quoted a reasonable price and said they could come out later that day to do the repair, I booked it. Matt L came out and did a spectacular job; I got notified he was on his way, he was on time, he was very friendly and diligent in getting the repair done right. He ran into a few problems due to the old installation, but was able to finally work around them and got everything put together except for a little fine tuning. The next morning Sean came out to finish the job and patiently spent time adjusting everything to my satisfaction. He restored the mechanics of the door to new condition, (some of the parts were original to the house, which is 30 years old) and helped us set up a new app to open and close the door remotely, if needed. I would not recommend this company to others. For starters they did a no call no show on a Sunday i stayed home for , between 12-4 (which was the time frame they gave me) . Next day the guy kept giving me different excuses as to why they didn't show up, for instance one excuse was they called me and spoke with someone who wasn't me or my husband. When i gave push back that they have my number and they can check the log cause clearly it didn't match "whoever they called". I then found out it was a double booking from someone who came Saturday the day before, (which was partially my fault since I did not pay attention to the company names since I was getting so many calls for the garage) But the guy that showed up the day before from this company told me and my husband that it would be cheaper for us just to return the garage door and purchase everything from them. I don't know about most people, but it's not easy for us just to uninstall a garage door and go return it back at a store as if it's a piece of clothing and easy to do. I also can't forget to mention the prices they wanted to charge us! Their website still claims that's true but when I called their number routed to a big call center for Garage Door Services, which is a foreign owned upseller whose techs are put through quick training then sent out to customers. They were very quick to come out and give an estimate. Once we committed and paid 50% of the estimate, the customer service was beyond horrible. Phone calls not returned, date of install kept being delayed, when I asked to to speak to management I was told that there was "none". On the day of the install the installers could not make the product function. I was left for another week until they could finally make the door function. While the custom door is a good product, I would never use this company again. I feel they provided stellar service until they got my deposit. After that the quality of the customer service was the worst I have ever encountered. The projected date of install I was given when I made my deposit was delayed for over one month. Horrible. Garage door worked well but ran slow. I called for service and got Boulder Garage as they had acquired my previous garage service company. The tech charged $231 to service (tighten bolts lube, spring tension) and told me it'd cost another $89 to align sensors. He repeatedly said I'd need a new door and opener within the year at a cost of over $5000. Immediately after leaving, the garage door had problems. It would start and stop and needed multiple pushes to get it to open or close. I called and asked for a different technician to repair his work. The company called me 3-4x. First told me a tech would be out in a 4 hour window. Next called to say the tech would not be out until the next day. Next called to tell me they were sending the SAME TECH out to fix that night. TLDR - Terrible. They last minute rescheduled appt twice, high pressure sales tactics, inflated prices, dishonest, no follow up. Boulder Garage Door is shady. Beware. Full Review - Our renters had a garage door failure on a Saturday and of course I was out of town. They were able to secure the door closed (but it was a bit jacked sideways) while I arranged a repair. I texted my usual guy (Kerry Frakes Garage Door - awesome, honest, man & a truck outfit) and he didn't text back. On Monday I called him and got a female dispatcher and a generic company name - which has never happened before. She said he was out in the field (probably not true) but she could have someone out that afternoon. For timeliness I agreed and arranged with the tenant. Then I did some research and found that it was Boulder Garage Door and they'd bought out Kerry Frakes. I kept the appt and called my backup guys - they couldn't come until the next week, but were able to give me a ballpark quote of $650 based on my description of the issue, so I set that appt and kept the Boulder Garage Door appt too. BGD rescheduled the appt Monday afternoon - for Tuesday. Then Tuesday for Wednesday. On Wednesday they finally came out. Taylor was the tech - he had a range of options starting at $900 for basic repair, up to $2200 for full hardware rehab or $2400 for a new garage door. He claimed the garage door was damaged and should be replaced. In his view it wasn't worth repairing. I was still out of town and on the phone with him - so couldn't judge for myself - but the sales pressure was high. He said that the tenant had reported issues with the opener too and it would probably need replaced (not included in quotes above). In the end I declined service for the day and asked for a detailed quote as the prices were significant. He then pressured me to agree to a $350 fee to lower/straighten the door for safety reasons. I passed - he then asked how much I'd be willing to pay to lower the door - again pressing safety. I passed and asked for the quote. Once he realized that I wasn't biting today, he said he'd get the quote and promptly hung up. I immediately talked to our tenant to see if he felt it was a safety risk - he didn't and said he'd secure it with ratchet straps just in case. Well, the follow up never came - never got a quote on any part of it. The next week my other guys came out - on time as promised. They fixed the door for under their ballpark quote. He replaced my garage door motor and greased the rail and the other moving parts though he didn't have to (a little extra customer service). He programmed my devices and tried to program my car but it didn't cooperate (not his problem, mine, though I appreciate his effort). Does this company really exist? The first technician who came out drove a truck with Boulder garage door on the side. The installer was in a regular pickup truck. When I called back to ask them to return and correct a problem, no one has come back. They scheduled three different appointments and didn't show up. One appointment they did call to say they weren't coming. When they answer the phone they just say garage door. One day none of their three phone lines were working. I did find a fourth number to reach them. Communication is terrible. Lifetime warranty - what a joke. I'm 70 years old and could probably fix this myself instead of wasting my time waiting for them. read more
