I've been visiting Late's for many decades. It's the classic family-run American diner. My Dad and I stopped in today for a perch lunch plate; it was just as I remembered. Nostalgic.

I like the name. I like the people that work there. I like the people that eat there. I like the food. I like the location. I like the menu. It's clean with ample parking. And I LOVE the MALTS!

Double burger with bacon

Went during lunch on a Friday. Ordered 4 things. One malt, an order of onion rings, an order of cheese curds and a double bacon burger. The malt was good. The nothings were good and the curds were good. The only things were that the portions for the price were small on the rings and curds. The malt was a good price no complaints there. The burger I ordered I said the works with bacon and when I got it, it had no bacon and no works. Sent it back for the bacon at least. The bun style did not really complement the beef patty cause it didn't hold the burger together at all. Might not be back unless I get a malt only.

Award Winning Cheese Curds

Definitely a hole in the wall spot. Small on the inside, old school diner feel. Food feels the same way. No sauce for the curds!

My hubs favorite place. He's been eating here 30+years. We live out of state now so we eat here almost every day when we're in town.

Was sad they were out of bacon maple shake. Everything else made up for it, however.. Best cole slaw ever!

Very good food I would recommend their pulled pork, cheese curds, and maple bacon shake or malt.

Not great. It's sooooo small in there that it's uncomfortable. Best cheese curds?? No way. The waitress was rude. Would not recommend.

Great place. Just renovated. Right by the park. Great shakes, housemade soup, big sandwiches. Come on in.

Great lunch. Try the maple bacon shake and cheese curds. The double cheeseburger was great too. No salads here.

THE BEST darn breakfast EVER! Thick bacon, the kind you actually get a few bites each piece,…read morefluffy, tender scrambled eggs, raisin toast, all delicious! Staff is super nice, like family (they are). 'Cash only' does prevent us from stopping in some Sunday's after church, because we don't always have cash on hand, but I understand, it helps keep prices down that way. They love onions too! You want onions? Sautéed or raw, you'll get them! Lotsa butter, cream, the way you're supposed to make breakfast. Burgers, soups, desserts, all homemade! (Check out the two 1* reviewers: read their other reviews while you're at it) They are NOT racist, they look the way they look, and work hard. If you're a stranger, and we used to be, they don't open up, it may take a while. They are used to their same local clientele and even we've been there a couple dozen times over two plus years, they're JUST starting to get to know us! (That's how it is often times in smaller towns; they don't experience the constant flow of strangers walking in [We're from Tampa] as in a big city.) But we're not sensitive snowflakes either. Re: Misses B. ridiculous review The 'kitchen' is SPOTLESS. We sit at the counter every time, and we'd have noticed. Hubby was an award winning military cook, (23 years) you can't get higher kitchen and food standards than the military; why? Imagine giving up to 3,000 troops (that's right, 3,000) food poisoning at one sitting! A nightmare of epic proportions! I've worked in restaurants and bars and am now an RN x24+ years. We have ZERO complaints or worries of cleanliness.

There was limited seating, but we got a Seay at the counter no problem. They have a pretty decent breakfast menu and a typical lunch menu including several soup choices. I ordered what I came for, a cheeseburger. I watched them make it on the grill. They started out with a handful of fresh ground beef. Then they smashed it nearly paper thin. The patty was thin and big around. They put slices onions and seasonings on it. When they flipped it over, the onions were grilled into the burger. They also pit a slice of cheese and the top of the bun on.. when it was finished the put it on the bottom half of the bun with the condiments. This burger was very good. What put the burger over the top was the fresh baked bun they used. I was told their buns are brought in fresh daily from a Bakery in Two Rivers. This will be on my best burger list.

Great place for a burger, a bowl of scratch made soup or a home cooked meal…read more This place has been around forever! Changed names a few years ago, but it was the former cool who took it over, so it's been a staple of good food in Two Rivers for a long, long time. The burgers are made like a "smash burger" on an open grill... make sure to order with the fried onions. Amazing! I ordered the "Saturday Special" which was Baked Chicken, with all the fixings for $8.75! You can't even eat at McDonald's for that price anymore! Plus this was a full meal, with all home cooked food. Unfortunately this is a tiny place with counter space for maybe 10 and I'm guessing 4 or 5 small tables. Not for a group! They also do not take credit cards so bring your cash! So nice to have these little diners still around. This one is on Hwy 42, so if you are heading to Door County, this might be a great stop to get good reasonably priced food before you get to tourism central in Door County!

This is a Manitowoc must see and eat at!!!!! I highly…read morerecommend the perch. It's the only item on the menu that I have every time I dine here. The staff is super friendly, the dining room is quaint and cute and stop and have a libation in the bar before heading in to eat. I grew up in Manitowoc, left for college at age 18, and just returned as a resident. This place was here when I left and is still here 40 years later. How's that for the test of time!?!?! Hands down: it's A MUST for any tourist and or A lifer of Manitowoc. I'll be going for a fish fry tomorrow night. OH. But a warning: due to it's popularity the place gets packed the minute it's open. But don't fret, there will still be room for you. It's like magic

My husband I drive past this place nearly everyday and always say "we should try that place"…read more We'll tonight was the night. We arrived around 4:30 and the place was already busy. We were able to find a table right away. Our server was friendly and attentive. Upon reviewing the specials and menu, I decided on the shrimp basket. The dinner comes with choice of soup or salad, and choice of potato. I chose the clam chowder and fries. My clam chowder came out fairly quick, and I was disappointed. It was wayered down and flavorless. I added some salt, pepper and a couple toasted bread chunks and it made it a little better. A short time later my shrimp plate came out, the breading on the shrimp was crispy and seasoned well. The fries were hot and crispy. The shrimp dinner was the redeeming grace from the disappointment of the clam chowder. The dining room is small, and dimly lit, with the tables close together. Overall it was a good experience, and another trip may be a possibility in the future.
